methuen, 213 down past the road. 129, most of the way into the city at this time. if you are taking the red line expect the southbound delays due to an earlier disabled train. erika: one person is dead after a fire did this complex in seabrook. firefighters were called to the building on lafayette road just before 1:00 this morning. they found the victim in a unit on the first floor where that fire was contained. no one else was hurt. no word on a cause right now. and also crash under investigation in randolph. it happened just after midnight on the ramp to route 24. the car rolled over. at least one person has life threatening injuries. the road has reopened. >> and lots of excitement at gillette stadium today. all of the patriots' nation awaiting one man's return. >> today tom brady returns to the field after his four-game suspension. there is no question the pats have missed him.

belichick we're onto cleveland. we're live in foxborough at gillette stadium, doug meehan, newscenter 5. randy: speaking of the game, a state trooper is in the hospital after being hit by a wrongway driver near the stadium. it happened just as the patriots' fans were returning to their cars after yesterday's game. police say that the trooper was trying to stop 25-year-old jose perez rodriguez on route 1 when the motorcyclist slammed right into him. witnesses say they both went flying. >> this guy covered in blood. covered. >> they gave up their sunday. they are not watching the game. they are make sure that we are getting there safe. >> someone's father and husband. he's hurt now. he's not coming home, and that's sad. >> that trooper did suffer serious injuries but is expected to recover. right now, three people are in custody accused in a shooting in boston. police say a man flagged him down in roxbury.

jersey. the national transportation safety board says that the engineer behind the controls last week in hoboken has no memory of the wreck but there are a few things that he recalls right before the crash. >> he said he looked at his watch and noticed his train was about six minutes late arriving at hoboken. he said that when he checked the speedometer he was operating at 10 miles per hour when entering the station track. >> investigates say that a data recorder that he recovered was not working during the crash, and they are hoping to get a second recorder that was in use soon. that's been difficult because of asbestos and other structural problems at that station. >> right now the red sox looking ahead to their first playoff series but at fenway park over the weekend it was all about big papi. david ortiz tipping his hat to fans yesterday during his regular season homestand. the red sox's legend joined current players for a tribute to the 10-time all-star.

it and it's fun and easy, and on a sunny day it's even nicer. >> a lot of walks over the weekend. runs, activities. >> they powered right through. >> right. >> exactly, yeah. >> how long it will last. >> we are going to see low improvements but the worst is behind us. before we talk about local weather i have to update what's happening with matthew. this is a category 4 hurricane right now. the winds are 130 miles per hour, and it is finally starting to move north at six miles per hour. so just kind of slowly chugging jamaica and haiti where there are hurricane warnings up right now, a landfall expected somewhere here near southwestern haiti as we get into the overnight hours tonight, and in parts of southern haiti, there was the potential for 15 to 25 inches of rain localized spots could see up to 40 inches. that will be devastating in terms of the rainfall, the mudslides, and a life threatening situation, and this storm will lift so we get into

tuesday night, impacting cuba, and by wednesday it's moving through the bahamas. from this point it continues to lift and likely will be weakening, but our computer models are really struggling as to where this is going to go, as we go through the weekend. you can see our computer models here, indicating a track near or off the shore, so it's going to be a while before we know where this is heading, but any impact here locally would come next time between now and then and we'll keep you posted. in the meantime we have fog now, the north shore, look at visability under a quarter of a mile, so fog may slow you down. notice the temperatures are stuck in the 50s still. we've been running in the 50s for the past couple days, but look what happens here by lunchtime. maybe a few breaks of sunshine. clouds will dominate today but if it brightens up we jump up into the 60s and then into the afternoon there could be an isolated shower.

to maybe make a run to 70 degrees, so warmer than the past couple days but we have this upper level low spinning off to the west, and it's going to be a piece of energy coming through this afternoon, that is going to allow the showers to pop up, and it's so cold there could be some instability for a shower or a thunderstorm this afternoon with some small hail, but through lunchtime, a couple of breaks. and during the afternoon the focus is mainly outside of 495 to any showers or storms popping up. those will wind down early a wind, there could be drizzle and fog developing and filling back in tomorrow morning. but that is not going to last the entire day, we'll see improvements, brightening in the afternoon. towards next weekend all eyes are on matthew as it comes up the coastline, there will be a front off to the west, if it times out right it could push matthew off the shore, but still a lot of question marks, so a close eye on the forecast heading into next weekend, between now and then we're, actually, going to see the

looking pretty good. and in fact, the fog downtown it looks like it's lifting quite a bit, and you are looking pretty good. the downramp is slow with delays on the a lot of ramp, and you are almost back into the chelsea side, heading over the tobin bridge. let's go to the maps, 128 southbound, we picked up a new crash at 93, the delays going back into the lynnfield stretch, and 93 a tough ride, 213 in methuen down to the city, take you over an hour and change. south of town route 3 north cleared thatsh delays up through that union street stretch. and 24 northbound, a tough ride, although we have eased out through the stretch, and you may get up to 123, 30 minutes up to 93 and randolph. erika. >> busy on the roads, and breaking overnight, a serious crash under investigation in randolph after midnight on the ramp to route 24. the car rolled over at least one person has life threatening injuries. the road has reopened. >> some of the other stories we're following right now, a

he's facing charges after hitting a massachusetts state trooper just after yesterday's game in foxborough. police say the trooper was trying to stop 25-year-old jose perez rodriguez off route 1 when the motorcyclist slammed into him. the trooper is expected to be ok. >> all eyes are on gillette stadium. watching for tom brady. the suspension ends today, meaning he can be back at practice with the patriots. he got in this workout yesterday at a school in brook line. and right now in developments in this man. >> investigates from several agencies plan to meet today to discuss the case of nathan carman and his missing mother. sare is here with the latest investigation. sera: this case spans several states, involving several law enforcement agencies, including the coast guard, all are focused on nathan carman, the 22-year-old who was rescued at sea after he says his boat took on water.

his mother linda was with him on the fishing boat and is now presumed dead. south kingston rhode island police are investigating her disappearance. they, along with state and federal law enforcement searched her connecticut home last week as well as nathan carman's vermont home, nathan carman said he is not responsible for the death or the boat sinking. we don't know when it is happening but we know that it will be at the coast guard academy in new connecticut, and news center 5 will be there. live from the coast guard station in boston, sare sare, newscenter 5. >> thank you, we're getting new information in a weekend crash on cape cod, the man killed in this collision in yarmouth designed and built motels. thomas arden owned the motel in west afterin and out. his wife was hurt on buck island road on saturday night. caroline liberty, an aspiring photographer was also killed.

played a role. right now police are searching for a teenager accused of opening fire on a car at a traffic light in new hampshire. that happened around 10:45 sunday morning on south main street. 18-year-old jacob cahill got out of his car and fired one round into the other vehicle, no one was hurt, it's unclear what sparked that shooting. >> a cooking mishap rattled the roof of a college dormitory sparked a fire that forced students out of their beds in the middle of the night. the firefighters in hov grill unattended on a flat section of the roof outside of a dorm window on saturday. nobody was hurt. the building was so badly damaged, though, that it will likely remain closed for the semester. the regular season may be over, but the honors continue for a big papi. >> the tribute to him and another, that you might not see. also a fiery crash sent a hot air balloon plummeting to the

>> good morning, the eyeopener team ready to kick off the news to go, and we're tracking the topics this morning, hurricane matthew bearing down on parts of the caribbean. >> and this is a dangerous thing one. >> it's starting to take a lift northward but only at six miles per hour. the center of it, you can see where the eye is, it's moving

impacts before it gets there, and rain is a big concern. the winds are a big concern, this is a life threatening situation. you can see the track here, maintaining this category 4 strength, as it does make that approach tonight. and there is expected to be 15 to 25 inches of rain, widespread, across southern parts of haiti but localized spots, you could see up to 40 inches of rain. that is tremendous, the mudslide potential here, and then it's going to work up towards cuba as we get into tomorrow afternoon. and bahamas, and by wednesday, so this kind of is the time line, so as we get towards the end of the week, here it is, sitting somewhere off the coast, and from this point, computer models are really struggling to see how close this is going to be to the eastern seaboard as it lifts. whether or not it curves out to the sea or comes close enough to give impacts but any impacts would be next week, and you want to check back often as we'll have updates throughout the

overnight. her representative says that by two masked and armed men dressed as police officers. about 10 million in jewelry was taken. she's obviously taken but not hurt. >> three people were in custody accused in a shooting, police say a man flagged them down in roxbury. they believe that he was shot on bowdoin avenue a mile away and suffering life threatening injuries. >> a state trooper is in the hospital after being hit by a wrongway driver stadium. it happened just as patriots' fans were returning to their cars after the game. police say the trooper was trying to stop 25-year-old jose perez rodriguez on route 1 when the motorcyclist slammed right into him. the trooper suffered serious injuries but is expected to recover. >> and police are investigating this crash in wellesley that temporarily shut down route 9, we're told that the electrical utility poles and wires were all over the roads there right near oak street. the intersection after the crash last night.

survive. a framingham man is expected in court today accused in a drunken hit and run. police say that christopher gagnon backed his car into another at conti's liquors friday night. they say gagnon urinated inside the store. they tracked him down at the wine vault where he was refused alcohol again. he's facing several charges. >> theever behind the train that crashed into a new jersey platform says he does not hoboken station. a data recorder was not working during the crash. they are hoping to get the second recorder soon. that's been difficult because of asbestos and other structural problems at that station. >> donald trump and hillary clinton hitting the campaign trail hard today ahead of sunday's presidential debate. trump will hold events in virginia before he heads to colorado for two rallies.
