' flooding and mudslides. elizabeth hur reports, haiti is already feeling its force and the u.s. military is taking no chances, already evacuating hundreds of military families. elizabeth: with hurricane matthew on the move, jamaica is boarding up windows and reinforcing roofs.

that is what i am doing right now. elizabeth: in cuba, winds reaching 130 miles per hour prompted the u.s. military to evacuate nearly 700 u.s. military families from guantanamo bay. the hurricane has a haiti on high alert where more than 50,000 people are still living in makeshift tents, temporary earthquake in 2010. this time around the monster storm could dump 40 inches of rain across haiti, cuba, and jamaica. people stocking up and preparing for a storm that could be the worst they had seen in years. >> chaos all morning. every imaginable thing.

sera? sera: erika, the arraignment is underway. the motorcyclist facing charges after hitting a state trooper. wearing a hospital gown, jose perez rodriguez arrives to court after spending part of the night at beth israel, the 25-year-old from everett now under arrest . gillette stadium yesterday. >> the impact, the cop fall to the ground, saw the guy flip through the air like a rag doll. literally -- it was scary. sera: it happened on route 1, as the patriots game was letting out. state police say the captain initially tried to pull the motorcyclist over for erratic driving. that's when he took off against traffic. >> he's taking off the wrong way. he's going southbound in the northbound lane. sera: the state trooper who was hit is expected to be ok.

hospital, facing a charge of reckless operation. the state police captain was not identified, but we are told he will be ok. he spent the night at the hospital for observation. he did suffer head and facial lacerations and contusions. sera congi, wcvb newscenter 5. heather: a framingham man is expected in court today accused in a drunken hit and run. conti's liquors friday night, when the clerk refused to sell him alcohol. the clerk says gagnon urinated inside the store. police tracked him down at the wine vault, where he was refused alcohol again. he's facing several charges. erika: a fatal fire in seabrook overnight -- firefighters were called to the building on lafayette road just before 1:00 this morning. they found the victim in a unit on the first floor, where the fire was contained. nobody else was hurt. no word on a cause. a cooking mishap on the roof of a dartmouth college dorm sparked

several former cast members of "the apprentice" are coming forward and saying that donald trump's behavior on that show was crude and sexist. lana zak, abc news, washington. >> the mystery behind a deadly train crash in new jersey is deepening. the ntsb says the engineer behind the controls last week in hoboken has no memory of the actual wreck. but there are a few things he recalls right before the crash. >> he said he looked at his watch and noticed his train was about six minute at hoboken. he says when he checked these but dom at her operating at 10 miles per hour when entering the station track. erika: investigators say a data recorder they recovered was not working during the crash. they're hoping to get to a second recorder soon. but that's been difficult because of asbestos and other structural problems at the damaged station.

this is one of the strongest storms in the vicinity for years. it is taking aim at haiti tonight. it is going a little farther east of jamaica. they are expecting a widespread 15 to 25 inches of rain in southern parts of pity and there could be localized spots that get 30 or 40 inches of rain. this is lightning rainfall coming on in with the wind and the storm surge and from there, it will . from here it continues to move northward. but by 8:00 saturday morning, there is a lot of latitude in the carolinas. next weekend for us if this has any impact at all, and it's too soon to see if it will come close enough to impact us here. in the meantime, looking at the sunshine.

the easterly wind will hold temperatures where they are. so it's not out of the question that a few of us may get a 70 degree reading. that will be nice. the average high is 66. we should be back up around 70 by the end of the week. western massachusetts, you see the clouds bubbling up. there is one little shower. showers starting to pop up here. we have upper-level energy rotating on in. look for the clouds to bubble up, especially away from the coastline. one or two showers make it going. they may become more numerous late afternoon and evening. we could get a little hail around here, but i think the

it will continue to shift south and westward. we have drizzle, fog, and cloud cover. 50's tonight. we should brighten up in the afternoon after that murky start. we will look at the temperatures, cooler, upper 50's, lower 60's. we and all eyes will be on matthew as it comes up the coast. we will be watching a frontal boundary to the west. the timing of that cold front is critical. if it comes in just in time, it could sheer matthew of sure. it looks like it will expand. -- it could sheer matthew offshore. there's a lot to watch over the next several days and we will do just that. heather?
