i'm randy price. >> i'm emily riemer. mike is in for cindy. >> national hurricane center came up with an update about a minute ago. the winds were 115 miles per hour. they have moved to 125 miles per hour. still keeping it as a category three. moving to the northwest now at about 12 miles per hour as it moves through the bahamas. what are we looking at? we're looking at category three right now, but it looks like it's going to a category four before it approaches the coast. see what's shore line. so as we talk about late tonight, it is just brushing against the coast, continues that way through daytona beach. as we look towards jacksonville, we're talking about friday at 2:00 in the afternoon. so this is going to be just hugging right near the shore line. a movement one way or the other just a little bit will have a big determining factor as to what will happen. it will move to the carolina coast and loop around and fall

this morning, look at this, 35 degrees in bedford. 35 degrees in norwood. chilly temperatures this morning, especially if you're away from the shore line. as you look at the day, it looks like we've got plenty of sunshine. coming up, we'll detail more precisely what's going to be happening in florida. they have a lot of things going on there. we'll talk about the winds and waves. around here, a sea breeze keeping things cooler at the coast. how about the traffic? >> so far, not seeing problems. volume starting to build along the expressway by the gas tank northbound heading to the top of the screen. let's check out the rest of your ride. so far fairly quiet some construction wrapping up 93 south at the zakim bridge. road work along route 3 cleared. we have some by route 18. >> pike looks good.

>> hurricane matthew is hovering over the bahama islands, heavy rains have been drenching those islands. this morning it's on the move toward florida's coast. >> and that's as we get a closer look at the devastation left behind in haiti. the eye's erika tarantal here to continue our coverage. erika? >> right now, more than a million people are being told to get out of the path of matthew. florida's governor warning be ready for a direct hit. people are evacuating the barrier islands before the today, filling up on water, food, gas for the journey. our shaun chaiyabhat is in florida. he spoke with a few people before they hit the roads. >> how does it feel leaving your house? >> it's terrible. i kiss it good-bye and hope that it's here when i get back. >> nearly 100 shelters are set up across florida. but these people are prepping to ride out the storm. some are staying to help those who really can't leave. meantime, people in haiti trying

tonight at about 11:00, palm beach may have some powerful winds. this will work its way upward as you head towards daytona beach. if movement one way or the other, by 20 or 30 miles, is going to have a big impact. it would keep the hurricane force winds offshore or push them into orlando. this will work its way along the coast, eventually diminishing somewhat in intensity. the whole thing will loop its talk about through the afternoon and into the evening. this is overnight tonight, 2:00 a.m. in the morning, category four storm right along the coast. obviously there are hurricane warnings up and down the coast all the way through. by 2:00 on friday, still maximum sustained winds of 130 miles per hour. then it does this loop. it heads into the ocean. out there it doesn't gain strength. in fact, it loses strength, becomes a tropical storm. we're talking about a storm that is really powerful right now and over the course of several days

really has very little impact on our weather. all of our computer models indicate the swirl is going to take place, very few allowing it to come to the north. none of them getting even close to new england. so today you're stepping outside, you've got lots of sunshine around here. clear skies and cool temperatures. it's 50 degrees right now in boston, basically a calm wind and relatively moist atmosphere. temperatures right now into the upper 30s, 40s. yes, about the only place that is warm. it's a chilly start for your thursday. as far as today is concerned, sunny. tonight, 44 to 50. we get a chance of rain on saturday, not directly influenced by matthew. however, if matthew can throw moisture at us, tropical moisture, we might get more rain

the judge says they may have broken some laws, but not the one that they are charged for, illegally filing and dispensing drugs without valid prescription. >> marion by the first in the nation to face a lawsuit over the proposed ban on the sale of menthol cigarettes. this proposal calls for a ban on all flavored tobacco. that includes menthol. the state says it will help with the legal fight. town leaders still have to vote on that proposal. >> more trouble for the note 7. a southwest airlines flight was delayed after a fire on board involving that phone, which the owner says was the replacement version. nobody was hurt. samsung re-called a million note 7s after over two dozen people were burned when their phones caught fire.

so the weather is really quiet today, tomorrow. our next weather event comes in towards the weekend. saturday, 8:00, we've got a cold front that may trigger showers. matthew is staying to the south. but i may bring tropical moisture and enhance the rain, enough where we can get decent rain. right now it's not looking like much. maybe we can half inch. over the next several day, sunshine. the weekend, a little bit of rain shower activity saturday afternoon through the evening. by sunday, we're back to sunshine. next week, chilly sunshine with plenty of temperatures into the upper 60s, warming nicely as we head to the mid 70s on wednesday. you've been very busy, olessa. >> i'm trying to keep up with you, mike. volume this morning and accidents. this is eastbound heading to the
