significant action in the northeast corner of florida but it will continue to shift northward towards the van, georgia and charleston. bands of heavy rain, very powerful winds and significant storm surge all along that track. these of the hurricane warnings from south of jacksonville all the way up to the north carolina coast line. so the hurricane force winds or costs rushing the coast line up through georgia and south carolina, possibly just about and shifting eastward and weakening later in the weekend. 110 mile per hour category two storm. there will be slow weakening but very slow. then the rainfall. it looks like 10 ages plus and parts of the same area that got significant storm surge and damaging winds. a triple whammy. we will let you know more about this and our weekend weather coming up. ben: while matthew continues working up the u.s. coast.

two deaths and florida being blamed on the hurricane tonight. nichole berlie is live in the newsroom with a look at more of the damage in florida. nichole: matthew has actually washed away part of a florida highway. as more than 1 million people are without power in that state. hurricane matthew continues battering parts of florida tonight. this is near new smyrna beach. >> when you factor in this with high tide, this could be locations. >> storm surge could reach 11 feet. >major wind gust bringing down power lines and trees. almost 5000 u.s. flights canceled due to the hurricane. savanna health and had international airport closed till sunday. fort lauderdale temporarily closed, but has since reopened. so far, at least two deaths attributed to matthew.

it is going to be a hurricane affecting georgia and the carolinas right to tonight and tomorrow. as it moves north, the heavy rains, the storm surge and the damaging winds all follow the storm. this tremendous swath of rain, and i cannot underscore how heavy that rain is, will continue to move northward with the storm moving 12 miles an hour. a large area of rain. plenty of hours to pile up. that is one problem. we are talking 5-10 plus inches ofai brushed with hurricane force winds up to the carolina border before his shifts eastward on sunday and begins to weaken at the same time. as for the surge, we are talking about again, 5-10 foot surge of potentially brunswick, georgia, savannah, charleston, south carolina 4-7 feet. myrtle beach, 3-6 feet. up to north carolina, ron
