another nice day. shayna: i'm going to boston. doug: i am too. i'm doug meehan. shayna: i'm shayna seymour in for antoinette this morning. what's up with those pictures? mike: patchy fog here or there. it has relationship to what's going on in the tropics. the humidity is out there. we cooled down last night. you get that fog to form. as soon as the sun warms things up, that fog will dissipate quickly. speaking of the tropical system, here's where matthew is. this is a new f added. a tornado watch box, one of the by-products associated with a hurricane. right now, look at that. hilton head, wind gusts of 87 miles per hour. we're seeing torrential rains on the coast. some of that moisture trying to work its way in here. we see a little fog this morning. we're also going to see a chance for enhanced showers tomorrow. the storm will take a right-hand turn and basically come back to where it started from. that's not until wednesday of next week. we have showers in the forecast. for today, we'll call it fading

there was blood dripping. and the man was fully conscious, and there was a homeless man on the side there in dunkin' doughnuts, and he took it off his shirt and was holding the blood in. doug: boston e.m.s. tells us the victim had nonlife-threatening injuries. there's no word on any arrests in this attack. "the globe" is reporting neither the victim nor the suspect had any ties to emerson college. police in new hampshire investigate the death of a toddler. leo witham is facing child endangerment charges and is accused of purposely leaving that child alone. the child died wednesday. the cause is under investigation. also a charge of drug possession and falsifying evidence. shayna: georgia and south carolina are bracing for hurricane matthew as it spins away from florida. the storm has weakened a bit,

moved into savannah, georgia, last night. those conditions and heavy flooding are expected to keep up through this morning. many homes in the area have been evacuated. and waves were rolling last night in folly beach, south carolina. hurricane matthew churning up the waters there with winds still up over 100 miles per hour. forecasters say a storm surge of up to nine feet is possible in many places. north carolina is also bracing for the impact. people in wrightsville beach spent part of yesterday putting down sandbags ahead of the storm. up to 15 inches of rain could be headed to the area. that has north carolina's governor concerned. >> this has the potential for north carolina to see the worst flooding since hurricane floyd in 1999. shayna: president obama signed an emergency declaration making federal aid available to dozens

shayna: edwards is being held without bail pending the outcome of that evaluation. doug: here's an interesting idea. police in new bedford are asking for help in keeping tabs on surveillance cameras in the city. they've asked residents and businesses with cameras to consider joining a registry. police say the program is voluntary, and the information on the cameras will be kept secret. they say knowing where the cameras are are going to help police solve crimes faster even though they wouldn't have direct access to those cameras. shayna: two newton football coaches are suspended with pay after a player claims he was assaulted on a team bus. the alleged incident happened thursday night as the team was returning from an away game. police pulled the bus over in concord after a player called 9-1-1 and reported that his coach had assaulted him. the newton superintendent says both coaches on the bus are now on paid leave. >> the police were called and investigated. and now we are doing our own

so powerful. this is tropical storm nicole. nicole went to a category two storm briefly yesterday and then back to a tropical storm just winding down. it's going to slowly meander toward bermuda just as a wind-driven windstorm. the thing about this morning, we have fog out there. we have this band of fog circling the city. depending where you're at, you're seeing beautiful blue skies, but in some places you can't see anything because visibility is down to 1/4 mile in ym this should be burning off as we head toward 9:30, 10:00 this morning. matthew down to the south, cold front to the west. both playing into our forecast to some degree. the main storm will say to the south. you see what it's doing. see the cloud cover? all of that kind of because matthew is lifting moisture over the top of us. and because of that little more moisture, when this cold front comes through, it will trigger off substantial rain as we look over the southeastern part of the state. not everyone will get good rain.

broken clouds. that cloud cover will be thickening up. look at the view from boston harbor. just crystal clear right now. a little bit of cloud cover, but not much. 53 degrees and temperatures out there right now off our morning lows which were down in the 40's. we still have pockets of 40's showing up. once the sun warms up, we'll burn that fog away. how about high temperatures today? generally in the 70's inland. cooler near the water. and with some elevation, worcester 66 degrees for a high. 70's today. the cape will enjoy temperatures into the upper 60's. this is the best place for seeing rain as we talk about tomorrow. here's what's going to happen. that cold front's coming in. remember, all that moisture is in place because matthew is churning up the east coast. then we slide this cold front into it. later tonight, scattered showers are possible out there. as we head towards tomorrow, this is where we'll see our best chance, but notice where the best chance is. toward the cape. matthew staying way down here to

this forecast. eventually, this kicks on through. we go back to some sunshine as we head toward monday. here's the forecast. today, kind of fading sunshine. it's foggy right now. we'll go to sunshine. then we'll fade it back in with mostly cloudy skies this afternoon. tomorrow, we have rain in the forecast. a little timeline. here's the way the map looks at 8:00 a.m. a lot of clouds, a hit or miss shower or two. then we get moisture bubbling up. from boston to providence and to the east, that's where you'll get rain. inland, gray skies. may even be looking at that will stay that way as we head through the afternoon, even into the evening hours, eventually clearing out as we get into monday's forecast. clear skies will allow us to warm up into the 60's. we'll have overnight lows down into the 30's. frosty out there in a few spots. then we'll get that sunshine coming back in the afternoon. next chance of rain thursday. your best opportunity for rain over the next seven days looks like tomorrow and primarily focused down toward the cape. doug? doug: thank you. red sox need to win three in a row or the season is over.
