has events in michigan. nichole: and a surprise from trump before the debate. he met with women who have accused former president bill clinton of rape and unwanted sexual advances. that included paula jones, juanita broaddrick, and kathleen willey. bill clinton never faced any criminal charges, and a lawsuit over an alleged rape was dismissed. he did settle a lawsuit with one of the women who claimed maria: our political analysts maryanne marsh for the democrats and rob gray for the republicans are here. let's break this down. 20 minutes into the debate. no real talk of issues. attacking each others character over and over again. the donald trump tape. bill clinton's past. was that effective? marianne: donald trump made a statement. a trusted change the subject from the tape we also on friday night. he wanted to go in not having that on the table.

springer-like start to the debate. i actually think that trump's locker room talk defense did allow people to move on. they were almost uncomfortable staying on a too long. the last hour of the debate was fairly substantive. so trump may have likely moved beyond it. maria: but enough to close the gap that seems to be widening? marianne: trump spent the whole debate talking to his base. you have 30 days to go. and he didn't do anything to move the poll numbers. hillary clinton had a better first debate than tonight, but she made no mistakes and she made her case. maria: can he change this? rob: 29 days in politics might as well be -- no one donald

donald trump will be back in new hampshire this week. he will hold a rally on saturday in portsmouth. the event starts at noon. first lady michelle obama will be in new hampshire on thursday, supporting hillary clinton and tim kaine. the event will happen in concord. full details have not been released yet. maria: breaking news, an arrest in the murder of an elderly man in orange. newscenter 5's juli mcdonald is there live with the breaking juli: a man then the woman are a police custody in virginia tonight. although the arrests may bring some closure to neighbors. there is a family in this orange community mourning their grandfather, and supporting his widow in her recovery. the town of orange breathes a sigh of relief tonight, after two people were arrested out of state in connection to a deadly

23-year-old joshua hart and 27-year-old brittany smith face charges including murder, attempted murder, home invasion, and armed robbery. massachusetts state police detectives issued arrest warrants for the two, who were then apprehended by the rockbridge county sheriff's department in virginia. orange neighbors were stunned and devastated wednesday when 95-year-old thomas harty was found dead in his east river street home. his 75-year-old wife joanna fisher, was flown to the hospital with serious injuries. as the investigation began, the northwestern district attorney's office released an image of a toyota corolla similar to one belonging to the orange couple. it was stolen from their home following the murder. investigators have also recovered that vehicle in virginia. joshua hart and brittany smith
