randy: dam control at the debate. donald trump's defensive comments about women and who the polls are favoring this morning. >> breaking overnights, a large fire. a video just in. randy: boston sports, tom brady's triumph and return and a make or break moment for the red sox. on the eye for this monday morning. emily: we are gauging the impact of the second presidential debate this morning. randy: it was quite the night, and emily riemer is in st. louis this morning where the city hall wraps up just hours ago. emily? emily: good morning to both of you, erika and randy. you know policy really took a back seat at the top of the debate. everyone waiting to see how donald trump would react to that

behavior with women, and with less than a month to go until the election it could make a big difference to voters who will get to all of that -- we will get to all of that for you ahead. first, cindy with a look at the forecast back in new england. good morning. cindy: good morning. what a day yesterday around here. with so much rain, the most rainfall that we have had in one day this entire year. that is now offshore. skies are clearing. cloud cover for you on the cape but today really all about the winds. they are gusting this morning. they are going to be with throughout the day. we are gusting over 20 miles per hour in most spots. on the cape of nantucket we're gusting close to 40 miles per hour. we could see gusts close to 50 miles per hour. there is a wind advisory up through noontime, and that wind is making it feel colder. this is what it feels like, like it's at the freezing mark in worcester and 38 in boston, and even though the temperatures are running in the 40s, bundle up out the door this morning. it will be a chilly day. we'll hold in the 40s through mid morning. as we head towards lunchtime,

sandwich road overnight. we have not had any reports of injuries there. we have not heard what may have started this fire. it's back to the campaign trail after a heated showdown last night. donald trump and hillary clinton coming out swinging in their second debate. we're getting our first look at how voters who watched are feeling about round two. erika: that's right, emily is leading our coverage from st. louis this mor. it, it was bit and her ugly, the big question, did it change people's minds? there is a new survey that we want to show you here, and giving hillary clinton the win. 57% to 34% say that she is the one who walks away with this. we will get to more of that for you in just a moment here having a little trouble with our technical stuff, so randy and erika, back to you for more on that debate as well as some of

last night. randy: thank you, emily. there's no doubt that this debate was bitter, and at times ugly. the big question is that did it change the minds? as you were saying the new cnn poll of debate watchers out overnight, does give hillary clinton the win. 57%. 34%, right off the bat. the raters went straight to donald trump's 2005 comments about sexually assau hillary clinton offering her first comments on the leaked audio tapes. >> i think it's clear to anyone who heard it, that it represents exactly who he is. >> this was locker-room talk. i am not proud of it. i apologize to my family and to the american people. randy: at times he referred to the comments as locker-room talk denying he's ever groped women, as predicted trump immediately

women involved in her husband's extramarital affairs. she did not respond. the two also tangled on russia. donald trump saying he disagreed with mike pence who says russia's actions should be met with force. >> he and i haven't spoken and i disagree. i disagree. >> you disagree with your running mate? right now syria is fighting isis randy: immediately after the debate pence tweeted that he's proud to s trump. as the rnc chairman who was also standing with the gop candidate after mass defections, he said in a statement, "donald trump rejected the politics of cronyism and made it clear he will bring strong leadership, prosperity, and security to the country. hillary clinton talking about her performance overnight on her campaign plane. said this. >> was it tougher than expected?

saw what i expected to see. that's why the first thing that i said was this is something that i've been saying since june. he's not fit to be the president and commander in chief, and there are a lot of people who said it before, and increasingly more adding that to the chorus. >> clinton also addressed comments that trump was often hovering behind her as debate. she said that she tried to give him some space. we wanted to know from our political analyst if anything that happened there last night would change voters' minds. >> the poll numbers, hillary clinton had a better first debate than tonight but she went in, goes out the front-runner because she made no mistakes and made her case. >> donald trump is sort of a c minus debater but people like him. she's a c plus debater. there is another one to go.

overtake her. randy: we also wanted to know what you think. you can head to our facebook page and tell us what you think, who won the debate, and ahead in our next half-hour we're going to be reconnecting with emily, and she will be doing a bit of fact checking with some of the comments last night. before the debate last night a bit of a surprise from donald trump. he met, brought out women who have accused former president bill clinton of rape andun that includes paula jones, anita broderick and kathleen willy. bill clinton never faced any criminal charges and a lawsuit over an alleged rape was dismissed. he did settle a lawsuit with one woman who claimed harassment. >> all eyes are on fenway park. doug meehan is there with what to watch today. a must win, doug.

winter, and like it or not the red sox are on the brink of elimination today so away we go. are you ready for it? clay buchholz gets the ball for the sox. also keep this in mind, this could be big papi's final game here so you can bet that the team will have that in mind as they try to keep their pennant hopes alive. rain, of course, forced mlb to call the game against the indians. ll only action on the field, if the sox pull off the win, game four would be held tomorrow here at fenway park, and a potential game five would be in cleveland on wednesday, and as you can imagine, the red sox's nation ready to pack their bags and head back to cleveland for that one. we're live outside of fenway park, doug meehan, newscenter 5. >> thanks. the patriots focused on cincinnati with this man firmly back in the game. tom brady connecting again and

the city this morning. police say the shooters were seen on the surveillance video. they have that footage. they have not been arrested at this point. the shots were fired around 1:00 on sunday morning. enunciation road in rocksberg. there was a party in a parking lot before the gunshots erupted. the girl, who was with her family nearby, at a gathering, was hit. she was taken to the hospital for surgery. police calling for the public's help in finding t responsible. >> hurricane matthew leading to some gut wencing scenes. >> and a mother and child from the rising floodwaters. more fallout for samsung on the replacement smart phones, which have caught fire. >> new this morning, cancer fighters in your kitchen. the foods that could help to cut your risk of the disease. >> and breaking overnight, a large apartment building fire in bourne under investigation.

temperatures holding in the 50s right now. the high pressure building in from the west, so the skies have been clearing out, and in between we have got this northerly wind picking up, and the wind is going to be the big story today. it is going to be gusty. we are seeing clear skies, light on the horizon, the sun is not up until 6:52, it is just 45 degrees in boston, and the winds are sustained around 15, but they are gusting higher, in fact, there could be gusts to 50 yet on the cape and the island. you can see the winds right now are and close to 40 in hyannis, and elsewhere, 20 miles per hour, so the wind is making it feel colder outside. these are the wind chills. i hate to use that word but actually, it feels like it's out the freezing mark in worcester, and the wind chill in boston right now is 38 degrees. so you want to bundle up. the temperatures in the low to mid 40s but with more clouds in the cape, we're still holding in the lower 50s.

60 today. these are the highs. 55 in worcester. 59 in boston. 60 lawrence and marshfield but that wind is going to make it feel chilly. if you are going to fenway tonight it's clear. it's chilly for the first pitch. 55 degrees the winds out of the north. still gusty, strongest winds through noontime. they start to die down but it will be overnight before the winds relax and as they do with the clear skies. it's going to be chilly tonight. freeze watch up for the worcester area, and suburbs away from the coastline, frost advisory, the temperatures near the freezing mark. should hold in the low 40s around boston. and we are going to be starting out chilly tomorrow but it's a nice recovery here through midweek as the high pressure moves in. we are on the back side. the low 60s tomorrow and mid 60s on thursday. warmer on thursday, 70 degrees, and watching a frontal boundary approach. that's the next chance for any showers, and limited moisture with this so a few showers on thursday afternoon or evening, and then clearing out heading into next weekend.

this woman and her baby got trapped in the rising floodwaters in north carolina. the rescuers were able to get to them and bring them to safety. the effects of hurricane matthew are widespread. >> yes, far reaching and lingering even though that storm right now is moving up into nova scotia and it has weakened. take a look at the damage. this storm claiming nearly two dozen lives in fayetteville, north carolina. 14 inches of rain falling in just hours there. annual rainfall. now last night more than a million people were still without power. erika. erika: thanks so much. your economy headlines this monday morning. samsung halting product of their troubled galaxy note 7 smart-phone, according to a south korean news agency. the replacement devices of the phone have caught fire. the company would only say they are changing their schedule to keep the customers safe. and this morning asian stocks

it's false. president barack obama authorized allowing 110,000 refugees in from the whole world and the refugees do undergo rigorous screening. and hillary clinton got mostly high marks from fact checkers but there were some questions like when she said that there is no evidence her email was hacked by a foreign power, while she was using a private server. on that coming up in just a bit. chilly out. >> it is, and it's a two hands on the wheel kind of morning. the winds are gusting over to 20 to 30 miles per hour. and that wind is making it feel chillier outside, and we're starting out in the 40s. it does feel chillier, and temperatures in the 50s this afternoon, lots of sunshine, the winds die down tonight, and frost for many of us tomorrow morning. and it's a moderating trend with the temperatures. we're back in the mid 60s towards the middle of theee an armed robbery in an alabama doughnut shop. the owner fighting back with what she had on hand. and the store owner says when she saw the man he tried to hide his face, and then he ordered two doughnuts when she opened the register, she says that he pulled out a steel pipe, so she grabbed a batter mixer. she tried to fight him off. >> and that's my money. i work hard every day.

randy: the eyeopener team ready to go in orange and boston and we're in st. louis, missouri this morning. emily is there with our debate coverage. erika: first video in the aftermath of hurricane matthew. this is just some of the damage from the georgia coastline, including so much devastation starting in haiti. >> yep. >> and then cuba and the bahamas and florida, and we had our yesterday. this was the moisture feeding into a front, and we had up to two inches of rain in boston and we had some spots over 3 to 3.5 in nantucket. >> yeah. >> not totally done with the tropics just yet. we're still tracking nicole out in the atlantic, winds of 635 miles per hour. so it is a tropical storm. it is forecast, though, to strengthen, perhaps into a category 2 hurricane, and look at this as we get towards the

we're going to watch this closely. it does not look like it will impact the eastern seaboard, so we have the remnant moisture associated with matthew moving away, and the high pressure moving in, and in between a whole lot of wind. you can see how clear it is right now but the winds are gusting over 20 miles per hour. gusts close to 40 on the cape, and over 40 miles per hour on nantucket, so that wind making it feel chillier. we are running in the low to mid 40s right now but with the winds it feels but notice through noontime the winds are sustained up near 20 miles per hour. and they will be gusting higher, so that's going to make the high temperatures near 60, feel a little chillier with the wind blowing at times. 55 in worcester and 59 in boston and upper 50s in the cape. if you are going to fenway park it will be clear, and it will be chilly, and the winds settle down over the course. game, but still 15 to 20 miles per hour, as that game gets started. going to be frost tonight. we'll take a look at that coming

erika. >> thanks so much. and new hampshire senator kelly ayotte says that she thinks that trump should drop out of the race, and appeared at the same event as maggie hassan. she pulled her support after the 2005 video surfaced. ayotte says that she will write in mike pence's name for president november 8. billy bush has been suspended over his role in the trump tape. and nbc saying that bush has been suspended pending further review of the matter. bush did issue an apology on friday after that tape was released. randy: donald trump will be back in new hampshire this week. he's going to be holding a rally in portsmouth on saturday. the event starts at noon. first lady michelle obama will be in new hampshire on thursday supporting hillary clinton and tim kaine. the event will happen in concord. full details were not released at this point. and a grizzly murder in orange. two people are in custody. 23-year-old joshua hart, 27-year-old britney smith arrested in connection with the
