through worcester county especially in the western part of the state, that's where we have a freeze warning. typically, our average day of the first freeze, and this is a killing freeze, not just a little bit of frost, is november 7 in boston. in western massachusetts, it's typically the first week of october. so this is not terribly unusual, the timing of this. typically, our first frost across the area does wait until november along the coastline, but we are right about average here as we near the third week and right about where we should be here out to the worcester area as well. so not terribly unusual this is happening, but it is a cold start this morning. hopefully, if you had some plants, you covered them up, brought them inside. look at this. we're below freezing in bedford and sitting at the same in jaffrey. 29 in keene. worcester is 43. boston is 44. so the city center's retaining the heat from yesterday and on

falmouth 39. new bedford 39. and right around the freezing mark in taunton. skies are clear. and the winds are very light. that's the big difference from yesterday. if you're heading out the door and not feeling that wind chill effect with the winds at or below 10 miles an hour and the air very dry with dew points in the lower 30's. clear skies. high pressure going to hold on a couple more days yet. we're on the chilly side now. as it tomorrow, we're going to get on the back side. that's where we find milder air. we also find more clouds and a few showers with this frontal boundary. this is going to cross our area during the day on thursday and thursday night, and that's when we're going to bring in more clouds. out ahead of that front, notice temperatures in the 50's to near 60 right now back in chicago, and that's the warmth that's coming our way later this week. so today's a chillier day, but we'll have the bright sunshine and much lighter winds than

final walk on the field, he realized it was over. randy: a man facing a judge after facing a scare in boston. we're learning those are not the only charges he's facing. sky 5 over what police thought was a suspicious package. it was a copy of the qur'an. but police say the man who left it there is also accused now of making threats at reagan national airport and 22-year-old aziz rehman osami will be arraigned today before being returned to washington, d.c. to face charges there. emily: police continue to search for the suspects in a shooting that injured a 9-year-old girl. this morning, that young child is paralyzed, and there's concern that that might be long-term paralysis. police are calling the violence on sunday morning a random act and they continue to ask for the public's help in making an arrest.

five high school students killed in a wrong-way crash. they were all in the same vehicle on interstate 89 when police say that they were hit by a pickup truck going the wrong way. a truck driven by steven burgoin. police say burgoin then stole a police cruiser and crashed into seven more vehicles. those who knew the teens say this is a big loss for everybody. we have learned that burgoin went to high school in salisbury and live there for several years. he is the hospital. he's going to be facing five counts of murder. emily: a toxic algae outbreak halts fishing in buzzards bay and mount hope bay. it can cause amnesic shellfish poisoning with symptoms that include stomach sickness and incapacitating headaches. those areas will reopen once that bloom dissipates.
