top of breaking news out of review this morning. police and swat members responding to a home after reports of shots fired. two men escorted out in handcuffs. police used flash bangs to clear the home. the scene has cleared. police say the people inside the home refused to leave during a special operations response. all of those residents have now been accounted for. doug: we are following breaking news out of new hampshire where three wounds in plymouth near plymouth state university. firefighters telling our sister station they responded to off-campus housing about 4:00 this morning. no word on their conditions or if they are students. antoinette: one person seriously hurt after the crash on interstate 95. state police say happened near exit five just after 3:00 a.m. at least one person suffered non-life-threatening injuries. mansfield firefighters say the

sides of the highway. it isn't clear how it happened. police are searching for suspects after a father is hurt in a shooting. doug: this happening in roxbury while a girl was sitting in a park car with her father. diane cho reports of father is known to police and is not cooperating. reporter: she was inside her home on the gunfire erupted in broad daylight. >> my car was shot out. reporter: police say a two-year-old girl was shot while sitting in the backseat of the car in a case where they believe her father was the intended target. >> i wish we had more cooperation. they say the father is a known gang kid to us who is also not telling us the truth of what happened here. it is unfortunate. reporter: the police commissioner says they believe the girl was shot in the hand in the book went through her leg. she is expected to recover.

officers found showcasing's but did not find any victims. they later learned the father brought the 2-year-old to an area hospital. >> everybody should be outraged. often, we do not get the cooperation can stop this senseless violence. reporter: last sunday, a nine-year-old girl suffered non-life-threatening injuries shot on a playground less than two miles away from where the shooting took place. there is too much going on throughout the community. it needs to come to a halt. reporter: the 2-year-old is expected to be ok. police are asking if you have information that can help to call the boston police department. antoinette: hillary clinton and donald trump taking time off the campaign trail today at of this week's final debate.

nominee for saying a clinton win would mean the election was rigged. yesterday, her running-mate tim kaine discussed the issue with voters in tampa, florida. >> now that he thinks he's going to lose, he is saying the whole thing is rigged. it is rigged against me, poor me . the guy is just a bully. doug: the v.p. nominee also hitting trump for his comments about women. kaine saying that's not what real men do. antoinette: president bill clinton will be back in new hampshire tomorrow to campaign for his wife. he has an event at dartmouth college in the morning, followed by one at keene state college tomorrow afternoon. both candidates are preparing for their final debate wednesday in las vegas. our emily riemer will be there live, with pre and post debate coverage right here on newscenter 5. doug: the driver involved in this dramatic rescue in arlington is expected back home today. police pulling the car out of the water yesterday as they investigate what led helen joyce to accidentally drive over a

safety after the car went under. everyone is expected to be ok. joyce will not face criminal charges. antoinette: the two boston officers injured in wednesday's shooting remain in critical but stable condition this morning. officer matt morris was in surgery again at mass general yesterday. commissioner bill evans visited officer richard cintolo, who is in good spirits and recovering after his surgery friday. police continue to investigate the shooting. friday, boston police removed the home on gladstone street. although the shooter was shot dead, prosecutors say more criminal charges may be filed. doug: the family of a swimmer who died during lifeguard tryouts in orleans is demanding $100,000 in damages. 22-year-old jack jakubek died during a tryout at pilgrim beach in may. now, his family says the town is liable because lifeguards ignored the college swimming star's signal for help.

are still recovering more than a week after hurricane matthew unleashed powerful winds and torrential rains. two more bodies were found this weekend in cars submerged in floodwaters, bringing the death toll in the state to 26. areas like this referred to as disaster zones. entire neighborhoods are under water while just miles away, others appear hardly hit. while some rivers are receding, the governor says it's not over yet. >> there are still many difficult days ahead for north carolina and many of our by this incredible hurricane that has been with us now for over 10 days. doug: flooding triggered by the hurricane killed at least 43 people in the u.s. and more than in haiti. 500antoinette: the northwest dealing with their own powerful storm. the remnants of a pacific typhoon barreled down on parts of oregon and washington snapping trees and power lines with winds up to 80 miles per hour. tens of thousands were without power after the storm made landfall last night.

antoinette: is 81 is conservative, i will take it. 10:17. stories we are following out. investigators are looking into the cause of a massive fire in arizona. this was the scene late last night in gilbert. the fire growing quickly to five alarms at the apartment complex, under construction. more than 120 firefighters were needed to get those flames under control. nobody was seriously hurt. fire officials say the strong winds fanned the flames for hours. antoinette: two companies are issuing a recall on tires affecting some 265,000 vehicles. giti tire is recalling several sizes of models because of a defect that causes cracks allowing air to leak out. meantime, continental tire is recalling certain models installed on more than 14,500 general motors vehicles. those tires have a problem that could cause excessive tread wear and bulging areas. all tires will be replaced for free. doug: vermont state police are investigating after a human skull was found at a home in

plymouth university. firefighters tell our sister station wmur that they responded to off-campus housing around 4:00 this morning. no word on the conditions of the victims or if they are students. doug: right now, state police are investigating a crash on i-95 in north attleboro. it happened at exit 5 just after 3:00 a.m. and reportedly involved vehicles on both sides of the highway. we know at least one person was seriously hurt and at least one other person suffering non life-threatening injuries. right now, police are searching for the suspect who shot a 2-year-old girl in roxbury. the girl is expectedo after police say she was shot in the hand while sitting in a car with her father yesterday afternoon. they believe her father a known suspected gang member was the intended target and say he is not cooperating with police. antoinette: right now, the u.s. navy is investigating another possible missile attack on u.s. ships off yemen's coast. the missiles were picked up by radar but have not yet been confirmed. army officials say the strikes came from a rebel-controlled area, but did not hit any u.s.

it is one of those days where you have temperatures starting to creep up. there is a little bit of wind. you have the wafting of the foods on the grill. i can smell it. we are not downwind. that is something else. there are some of the thicker clouds starting to arrive. you can see a couple of those around the boston area. not total sunshine for the rest of the day but certainly bright and mild. high pressure is overhead. it starts to slip out to sea. that allows the wind to set up out of the south and west. it will offset the sea breeze today. a cold front to our west. showers working down toward detroit, michigan. this is heading in our direction. by t most of the steam from the system has been lost. a lot of 60's off to the west. nearing 70 already. that is the air mass coming into play later tonight. we get a few clouds. the showers toward the great lakes try to make across the berkshires. i don't think they will have a lot of luck doing so. by 7:00 tomorrow, clouds and intermittent sunshine. a frontal boundary will be here.

a home after reports of shots fired. two men were taken away from the scene in handcuffs. police say the people inside the home refused to come out. the home was safely evacuated. doug: we are also suffering following breaking news out of new hampshire. three people are suffering stab wounds in plymouth near plymouth university. firefighters tell our sister station wmur that they responded to off-campus housing around 4:00 a.m. no word on the conditions of the victims or if they are students. right now, one person is seriously hurt after this crash on interstate 95 in north attleboro. state police say it happened near exit 5, just after 3:00 a.m. at least one person suffered non life-threatening injuries. mansfield firefighters say the crash involved vehicles on both sides of the highway, but it's unclear just how it happened. that scene has since cleared. antoinette: a 2-year-old girl is recovering after she was shot in roxbury. police are searching for the suspect, who they believe was targeting the girl's father, who was in the car with the toddler at the time. the father is a suspected gang

cooperating with the investigation. doug: the two boston officers injured in wednesday's shooting remain in critical but stable condition. officer matt morris was in surgery again at mass general yesterday. commissioner bill evans visited officer richard cintolo, who is in good spirits and recovering after his surgery friday. the suspect was shot dead during the gun battle. antoinette: the u.s. navy is investigating another possible missile attack on u.s. ships off yemen's coast. the missiles were picked up by radar, but ty been confirmed. army officials say the strikes came from a rebel-controlled area but did not hit any u.s. ships in the red sea. this comes just days after a u.s. missile strike destroyed three radar sites in yemen, in retaliation for two earlier attacks. donald trump suggesting hillary clinton used drugs to enhance her debate performance. he made those comments during an event in new hampshire yesterday, saying clinton should take a drug test before

there are no points awarded for sheer originality as this race has charted new destructive territory. sadly, it makes many voters want to take a shower rather than becoming enlightened and inspired by the debates. the continued slide is another blow to the ideal of participatory democracy. unsolved issues that cannot be ignored. in the last debate, they were ignored. topics never mentioned, climate change, education, gun violence, infrastructure. on the list, liar, misogynist, and email breaching. while we support the institution of nationally televised debates, perhaps it is time to rethink how to best serve their most important audience, the

to steer the discussion to issues and away from personal attacks most viewers find more repellent than informative. no question these debates will constitute a new low. if we can reform some parts of the voting process to bolster turn out, we can do the same with debates. she saw the boots and fell for fall all over again. was she expecting to find the perfect designer boots at such an amazing price? no.
