bedford street and highland road this morning. a 77-year-old man riding on one of the motorcycles was killed. three other people are also hospitalized with serious injuries. reid: right now, a suspect in a stabbing near a new hampshire university is under arrest. 19-year-old terrence simmons of newport rhode island is behind bars after a 14-hour manhunt. plymouth new hampshire police say he stabbed three men outside a housing complex early this morning. that com s state university. two of the victims are plymouth state students. >> i watched the whole thing happen. i which i could do more. very unfortunate. reid: two of the victims have already been released from the hospital. the third is still hospitalized, but will be ok. simmons also faces drug charges and will be arraigned tomorrow morning. police have not said what sparked the stabbing. nichole: a man is recovering after being shot in broad daylight in fitchburg.

the victim left the store and then got into an argument with someone. shortly after, shots rang out. >> you don't feel like it's real but it is. you know, i mean, i hear gunshots once in a while. you know, when it is 20 feet away, it hits home a little bit. nichole: police say a nearby surveillance camera caught the entire thing on video. the victim was shot in the shoulder. he was transported to u-mass worcester and is expected to be all released. no arrests have been announced. reid: the convicted sex offender whose release sparked outrage, will be in court tomorrow. richard gardner was arrested at a shelter in boston friday night. he moved back to weymouth after serving 30 years for kidnapping and raping several young boys in the late 1980's. neighbors feared he would offend again. he is now facing a fugitive from justice charge out of rhode island. nichole: on the west coast, cleanup is underway in the pacific northwest. back-to-back storms brought rain and wind, tearing down trees and power lines, and damaging roads.

reid: a boating accident caught on camera in california. two surfers. the boat capsized when it hit a sandtrap off ventura beach. no one is seriously injured. but the driver and two kids were thrown into the water. two surfers were there and swam over to help. >> the dad and one kid kind of came up quick. the second kid didn't. so i pushed the boat down and he came out. i put him on my board area -- my board. reid: harbor patrol officers are

the boat should not have been going through that area. nichole: an arrest made in the terrifying truck accident in san diego, california. police have determined that alcohol played a factor in the crash. they have arrested 25-year-old navy sailor richard anthony sepolio. police say sepolio drove his pickup truck off a freeway overpass. then, from 60 feet up, the truck crash-landed below into a crowded park festival. four people were killed, most likely instantly. nine others were injured in the crash. >> i c s it looked like superman had lifted up a car from the bridge and threw it off the bridge. i could feel all the dust in the dirt coming in my mouth. pieces of car parts were flying all over the place. nichole: sepolio was charged with 4 counts of vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, as well as two other similar reid: -- to other similar charges. reid: among the crowd of patriots fans today at gillette was a man who has always dreamed of being there and may not get another chance.
