i'm doug meehan. emily: i'm emily riemer along with cindy fitzgibbon. what a mild day today. it's so different from those 30's. cindy: you know, i just don't know how to dress anymore. it's 20's in the morning. it's warm in the afternoon. go for the warm weather gear the next few days. doug: love it. cindy: we have much, much milder temperatures working in. it's about 10 to 25 degrees warmer right now compared to this time yesterday as you're heading out the door. look at these 50's and 60's. average high temperature this time of year is 61 in boston. it is 64 right now. lower 60's in cape. 57 in worcester. running right around 60 on the north shore as well. overnight we did have a lot of cloud cover. there's a lot of clouds from the city southward. we're clearing it out to the north right now. there's a frontal boundary dropping southward. and this front is trying to bring in some cooler air. on the ear other side, it's in

of 128 heading towards the mass pike. routes 3, 93 okay getting by 495 so far. and if you take the trains this morning, all lines are starting on time. emily: breaking overnight, one person shot late last night in lawrence. it happened around 9:30 on haverhill street. few details are being released about the circumstances of this shooting. but the eagle tribune reports the man was flown to a boston hospital for treatment. no word on any arrests. new this morning -- a plea after a toddler is shot in roxbury. doug: right now, we still don't know who's to blame for that crime. the eyeopener's sera congi live in boston with that grandmother's message to everyone. sera? sera: doug, brenda peoples wants the community to speak up for her 2-year-old granddaughter who is now recovering from gunshot wounds. this all happened on saturday in roxbury on winslow street in broad daylight. the toddler was sitting in the backseat of a car where police

the bullet piercing that little girl's leg and also grazing her hand. her grandmother spoke to "the globe" saying for people to come forward and say what they saw. she says, quote, i wish the young people, the youth around here, would take life a little more seriously. now, again, that girl is recovering from her gunshot wounds. boston police say that her father is not cooperating because of gang relations. live at boston police headquarters, sera congi, wcv bars and expected in court today accused in triple stabbing in new hampshire. police arrested terrence simmons jr. of newport, rhode island, yesterday after a 14-hour man hunt. police say he stabbed three men outside of a housing complex yesterday morning up in plymouth, new hampshire. that serves as an off-campus housing for plymouth state university. two victims are students there. all three are expected to survive. right now, we've got a mystery surrounding a major police response in revere. this morning, police say there

hours-long incident. the eye's nicole estaphan live in revere with the new questions. nicole: doug, certainly a bizarre situation here on francis street early yesterday morning. now those involved say they just want answers. it began around 4:30 a.m. with a call about shots fired at a home here, but neighbors say they didn't hear anything. swat was called and several tenants were detained for hours. one man was led out of the home in handcuffs but let go after questioning. >> i don't i have kids. this is the first time. i'm scared. i'm so scared. when i see more than 20 cops, that they took their gun in my face. nicole: 14 people were detained yesterday. all eventually released. they tell us police apologized but gave no explanation. police do say this morning their investigation continues. we're live in revere, nicole estaphan, wcvb newscenter 5.

a major military offensive is underway in iraq. the iraqi military is carrying out an assault against isis to take back the key city of mosul. in its second largest city in iraq and a stronghold for the terror group. u.s. groups are not involved in the fighting but providing logistical information. a million people are leaving the city creating a humanitarian crisis. >> the big, brave donald trump is too chicken to release his tax returns. blue for officers richard cintolo and matt morris. they remain hospitalized in stable condition. the man who shot the officers was killed in a gun battle that followed. a fire that caused close to a million dollars in damage on newbury street is under investigation. flames breaking out on the first floor of a four-store brownstone. there's significant damage to an art gallery and restaurant. flo no word on how the fire started. emily: a meeting about green line trolley derailments. there were seven last year and five this year including one in may. unseasonable warmth into the eastern seaboard. in fact, we could be flirting with record high temperatures tomorrow and again on wednesday. the record high on tuesday is 82 from 1947. we're going to be close. this morning out the door, this is what i'm talking about. 50's and 60's. it is 57 right now in worcester. 60 up in the north shore beverly back to lawrence. lower 60's from marshfield to the cape. in boston, 64 degrees right now. average high this time of year is 61. so we're already above that this rn toward 2:00 this afternoon. we're in the lower 70's. it's going to be a very mild day. cloud cover, though, will be around. we've had the clouds overnight. they've been blanketing up. we have a west-southwesterly wind out there. that's why the temperatures are so mild. you can see how the clouds are dropping southward and there were a couple of sprinkles overnight. those, too, are shifting offshore right now with this frontal boundary that is pushing southward. the real warm temperatures are just south of this boundary, but on the other side, there isn't a lot of cooler air.

temperatures today climb up to 71 worcester, 71 boston, 70 near the cape. nashua, lawrence, taunton, running in the mid 70's. tonight we're dropping back either side of 60 degrees. it's a mild night. mostly cloudy skies, though. you can see that here. can't rule out one or two sprinkles in southern new hampshire where there could be sedier rain overnight. tomorrow starts out murky. as the day moves on, clouds will thin out and temperatures 80 degrees, some lower 80's in southern new hampshire. as you get toward the sea coast of main, temperatures will get cooler. we're on the warmer side of the front tomorrow. your record high temperatures possible. the record in boston is 82. forecasting 80. record in worcester may be harder to reach at 85, but it's still near 80 on wednesday. clouds increase on thursday. and friday is the day we're watching as the front approaches from the west.

are investigating after a person is hit and killed by an amtrak train. it happened in east greenwich sunday afternoon. the victim has not yet been identified and an amtrak spokesperson says the victim was on the tracks at the time. neighbors say it is common for people to be walking in the area. that regional train was traveling from boston to washington. james "whitey" bulger says he won't help a man claiming a wrongful conviction. fred weichel has served 30 years for murdering fred weichel. he claims he was wrongly convicted. he talks about the so-called true killer coming forward writing, i won't name him or force him just as i choose not to tell the truth in my trial about certain incidents even though the guilty lied.

yesterday after a 14-hour manhunt. police say he stabbed three men outside of a housing complex yesterday morning in plymouth, new hampshire, and that served as off-campus housing. two victims are students there. all three are expected to survive. a 12-year-old girl is being credited with saving the lives of four women who apparently overdosed in springfield. police say the girl called 9-1-1 in time to save them. the unresponsive women were given narcan by first responders, and they were alert when brought to the hospital. police say the women had gone out before returning to the home and overdosing. dcf has been notified, but police have not yet filed criminal charges. doug: a navy sailor under arrest in this deadly truck crash in san diego. that crash killed four people and injured nine others. police say the man was drunk when he drove his pickup truck off a freeway overpass dropping

55% contained. the little valley fire has burned more than 3,000 acres. two dozen homes and 17 buildings have been burned. of the nearly 500 firefighters that are battling the flames, at least four suffering minor injuries. a state of emergency is in effect there. emily: a dozen bulldogs stolen from a pet store and all of this caught on camera. three men used a sledge hammer to burst into the texas store and made off with 12 dogs in justou four english bulldogs and two french bulldogs. the puppies are valued at more than $20,000. the store owner is offering a reward of $800 per dog returned. doug: china has launched a new space mission. that spacecraft blasted off earlier today with two astronauts onboard. there it goes. the plan is to send them into an orbiting space lab and conduct experiments to help sustain permanent life by 2022.

cindy: my second was born in december. i was afraid there was going to be a storm. emily: exactly, exactly. doug: i'm just going to believe you guys. cindy: well, hard to believe we're talking about temperatures in the 70's to around 80 the next few days. we hit 71 in boston yesterday. and, you know, the month overall is averaging just slightly below average after the next few days, that is going to change. we have some really warm temperatures coming up this week. 57 right now in worcester. got lower 60's plymouth out to the cape. north shore as well. boston is 64 right now. our average high this time of year is only about 61. so we're already above average out there. it's early in the morning. a blanket of clouds overnight dropping southward with a frontal boundary. this is a cold front, but on the other side, the air is not all that chilly. there are 40's in canada. you see all the warmth back to the west and the south. that's going to work back in as the front lifts to the north coming up tomorrow.

lunchtime temperatures around 70. we're in the 70's this afternoon. may see some of the mid 70's. 73 in boston. back to near 60. overnight low temperatures tonight. there will be clouds overnight. here comes that frontal boundary lifting northward. could be a few showers overnight first thing tomorrow morning in southern new hampshire and as that front lifts northward, that warm air is working back in. near record high temperatures tomorrow. heading up to around 80 degrees. the record in boston is so we will be close. and then we are going to see the warmth continue until about thursday as the clouds increase. next chance of wet weather comes in on friday. we'll watch this front approach from the west, and there may be some tropical moisture working northward along the eastern seaboard. if that interacts with the front, it could give us a good soaking rainfall. that would be great news as we do need the rain and it looks like we should clear things out in time and turn cooler for next weekend. all right. let's get you back out to the roads. busy out there on a monday
