doug: good friday morning on this october 21. i'm doug meehan. antoinette: i'm antoinette antonio. randy and emily are off this morning. a missing woman found in a swamp in bell -- billerica. doug: a young teenager dragged the suspect facing the judge in hours and the action by police today. antoinette: political jabs from the candidates supposedly in fun. the jokes that fell flat and some that even incited boos. doug: it was an interesting event to say the least as is our weather this morning. cindy fitzgibbon joining us. a little misty. cindy: a little foggy, a little tough to see. look at the visibility, running around 1/4 mile worcester into boston and out to the cape and

we're running in the mid, upper 50's, lower 60's on the map. it is a warm muggy start to the day. you will probably need those wipers in a lot of spots. you look closely, you see patches of light showers, mist, drizzle around the area. nothing super organized locally, but you can see off to the north and west, we've got heavier rain. a lot of this is going to follow this frontal boundary to our north. but the southerly wind is going to bring in more humid air. as the day wears on, our chances watch for the fog. temperatures come up by noontime to around 70 degrees. and as you get into the afternoon, there will be more showers. despite the clouds, it will be a muggy day due to that southwesterly wind and temperatures will come up either side of 70 degrees. through the morning commute, nothing real heavy, but deeper in the afternoon and past lunchtime and the evening commute, look at the downpours across the area. big impacts for this wet weather

to 30 hours in a billerica swamp before she was found. take a look at the video from overnight after crews found and rescued 45-year-old tanya condon-frieden. she'd been missing since wednesday evening. her sudden disappearance sparked an intense search. well, just after midnight, there was relief for police and, of course, her family. >> it was a good outcome for us. we had a lot of help from surrounding agency as well as the nemlec unit who was responsible for finding her. sera: condon-frieden was taken to a local hospital to be checked out. police say she is okay. it's not clear how she ended up in the swamp, which is not far from where she was last seen. we'll bring you more information as we get it this morning. live in burlington, sera congi, wcvb newscenter 5. antoinette: also breaking, a bicyclist is seriously hurt

this happened just after 11:00 last night on south bridge street. police say no charges have been filed at this time. "the telegram" reports it appears the man rode his bike into the back of a truck. doug: a man is preparing to face a judge charged in a shocking crime. police say he pulled a teenager off the street and attacked the victim in this apartment building. we should get new details. juli mcdonald is live in lawrence where police are taking new action. juli? juli: police quick to make an arrest. angel mateo will face a judge in lawrence hours from now. we do have a photo of 21-year-old mateo being arrested on charges of kidnapping and aggravated statutory rape. on their way to school, the 13-year-old allegedly grabbed by mateo and dragged into a second floor apartment at 76 phillips street. that victim was sexually assaulted for two hours. the teen then took the five-minute walk to school,

called police. >> the victim was able to provide police with information to led to a capture and an arrest. juli: mateo was on pretrial probation with an ankle bracelet but was not a prior sex offender. the mayor calling for a review of anyone in lawrence wearing an ankle bracelet. there will be an increased police presence in that neighborhood, although investigators say they do not believe there is any threat. antoinette: a teenager is under arrest due in court after a shooting in chelsea. a stray bullet grazing a 13-year-old who was in his bedroom. 19-year-old christian garcia was arrested on i-93 in andover less than 24 hours after the shots were filed on bellingham street. 13-year-old juan lopez delgado was in his bedroom when he was hit in the shoulder. after spending some time in the hospital, he's back at home this morning. doug: a fundraiser is going to

officer shot and killed by the marathon bombers. the fourth annual sean collier memorial fundraiser begins today at lyndell's bakery in somerville. they will have half moons with his badge number. $1 for every half moon sold between today and sunday will be donated to a scholarship fund in collier's name. antoinette: commitment 2016. today is an all-out push in the battleground states. republican donald trump and mike pence hitting north carolina democrats hillary clinton, tim kaine, and some other big-name supporters will campaign in florida, pennsylvania, and ohio. and more signs of the tension in this race. a light-hearted fundraiser featuring both of the candidates gets a little ugly. >> hillary is so corrupt, she got kicked off the watergate commission.

how corrupt do you have to be to kick off the watergate commission? antoinette: you heard it there. donald trump getting boos at the annual al smith dinner in new york. hillary clinton jabbed him a few times saying he'd rate the attractiveness of the statue of liberty. but most of her jokes were a little lighter. >> i took a break from my rigorous nap schedule to be here. and as you've already heard, it's a tre lot for speeches. antoinette: that race may now be impacting another contentious fight close to home. a new poll shows a breakaway in the race for u.s. senate in new hampshire. democratic governor maggie hassan has now an 8-point lead over incumbent republican senator kelly ayotte according to the wmur survey.

the disturbing video of the dog named bella, a pitbull-terrier mix, was posted on facebook. the video begins with the young dog hiding under the kitchen table so frightened she wets the floor. brockton animal control launched an investigation following this posting and now bella has a new home. >> she's a puppy. she's only 1. so it's g anyways to be able to train, period. but with her being abused, it's going to take a little bit longer. antoinette: it's unclear why the video surfaced two months after it was taken. if convicted, bella's former owner could face seven years in prison or a fine up to $5,000. doug: okay. it's 4:41. a close call for a driver caught on camera. the alarming similarity to another encounter in the same

doug: one last blast on the horn. cindy: can't see much of anything. the fog is thick. we have rain in the forecast. don't leave home without your umbrella and wet weather gear. a little bit of drizzle and light showers this morning. as we get into the afternoon, the rain chances are going up. into tonight as around on saturday. sunday is the dry day this weekend. we need the rainfall. you can see for the month of october, we've been doing okay. we're slightly above the average, but for the year, look at our deficit now. haven't showed you this in a while. it is up over 10 inches. so we will take this rainfall coming on in. you see the radar right now. not terribly active. a couple of light showers, drizzle, mist. so patchy areas of rain out there this morning. but the fog is widespread. visibility is running from worcester on into boston right

the cape and into southern new hampshire as well. so be mindful, that fog may slow you down this morning. 54 in worcester. 59 in boston. look at beverly, 60 degrees. 65 in plymouth, and it's a little bit humid. you can see where our weather is coming from. look at the motion here. everything is lifting from south to north. we've got this deep southerly flow that has brought in that low-level moisture, but a frontal boundary is focused to our west. much of the day, the focus of the real wet weather is going to stay across new york, pennsylvania, and up near the canadian border. what we will see with the southerly wind are the temperatures coming up despite all the clouds and the rain. it's going to be up around 70 degrees with that humidity through the afternoon. notice on futurecast, not a lot happening this morning, so during the morning hours, it is just that patchy fog and drizzle early on, but the rain will get heavier this afternoon, and there could be some downpours,

starting to see more showers popping up. look at this for your ride home, 5:00, 6:00, heavy downpours across the area. not everywhere, but where it is raining, it is going to be raining hard and you may hear a rumble of thunder within this as well. this goes until midnight. after midnight, i think the heaviest of the rain begins to lift on out, but we're left with a lot of clouds. temperatures tonight are holding in the 50's to the lower 60's, and this whole system is basically developing right on top of us. tomorrow morning sta o chillier air moves in, cold enough that saturday and sunday there will be snow in the northern mountains. the potential for rain on average is 1/2 inch to an inch. there will be locally higher amounts. saturday features mainly dry weather first thing in the morning, but one area of moisture is going to push through during the afternoon. we go from midday into the afternoon, a passing shower is possible. the trend is that we dry things out saturday and crank up the

an officer drew his gun on a suspect that tried to ram his cruiser. this happening in chinatown yesterday. moments later, the driver in that s.u.v. is seen screaming and thrashing. when police pull him out of the vehicle, he's slumped on the pavement. one officer holds his head, the other grabs narcan. it took two full doses of that lifesaving drug to bring that man back. antoinette: boston children's hospital gets the okay to expand but at a high emotional cost. the prouty garden, which has been a haven for patients and their families for decades, will be lost. the $1 billion expansion approved by the state public health council will put an 11-story building where that garden sits. >> our family is not going to have a place to go any longer to remember david and his life and his courage and his bravery. >> we have said over and over again that the prouty gardens is a loss to all of us, but the

the staff is first and foremost. antoinette: a new greenspace will be created as part of the project. doug: a minor snag for general electric as it continues the process of moving its headquarters to boston. yesterday the boston planning and development agency canceled a key vote after concerns it may have violated the open meeting law. anti-g.e. activists complain that the meeting agenda was behind a glass case in the lobby of city hall and some pages could not be read. the vote will likely be rescheduled in two to three weeks. checking the markets, asian stocks tumbled after earnings reports from some of the world's biggest companies. u.s. stock futures are trending lower. investors are keeping a close eye on new earnings reports. antoinette: trending stories this morning, the los angeles

doug: welcome back. it's 4:55. we're following breaking news on your early news to go. antoinette: a woman who had been missing in burlington for more than a day has been found. tanya condon-frieden was pulled out of amp overnight alive. police saying she spent up to 30 hours in that mucky water after she disappeared wednesday night. condon-frieden was taken to the hospital to be checked out, but police say she is okay. doug: we're also following breaking news in iraq. isis claiming responsibility for an ongoing attack in the northern city of kirkuk. at least 11 people are dead after militants attempted to take over a power station and several government buildings. we've got some live pictures coming into our newsroom right

government and kurdish forces are making a major push to drive militants out of mosul. meanwhile, that military offensive in mosul has claimed the life of a u.s. service member. the american was killed by a roadside bomb. more than 100 u.s. special ops forces are taking part in the effort to take back mosul. investigators sayis schools were locked down for a short time as a precaution. the suspect took off in a small blue car driven by a woman. antoinette: for the first time, an m.m.a. fighter is diagnosed with the die generatie -- degenerative disease c.t.e. that can only be discovered after death. jordan parsons was killed by an alleged drunk driver six months ago.
