this morning. and so you got us. antoinette: sorry, folks. doug: cindy is here with a wet start. cindy: wet and foggy. you're going to feel the humidity as soon as you step out the door. then you're going to go where am i because you can't see anything. look at the visibility. 1/4 mile from worcester on into boston. we have the fog reducing the visibility from southern new hampshire all the way down to the cape this morning. so the fog is out there. look at these temperatures. upper 50's to the lower 60's. it is going to be a mild day, but it's real muggy out there. you can see the radar not picking up on a whole lot. some scattered light showers, mist, drizzle, and that's about it. things are going to change this afternoon. there's heavy rain to the west. this will be riding to our north and west, but this southerly flow will bring in more moisture off the ocean. the temperatures in the 60's this morning actually to up near 70 degrees as we get to the afternoon. after lunchtime, the showers start to become a little more

a swamp after a desperate search. this morning there are still many questions to be answered. antoinette: the eyeopener's sera congi live in burlington with the new information we've learned. sera? sera: antoinette and doug, the good news is that this missing woman is okay. burlington police saying that she may have spent up to 30 hours in a swamp in billerica. take a look at the video from overnight. this is just after crews found and rescued 45-year-old tanya condon-frieden. she'd been wednesday evening. her sudden disappearance sparking an intense search. shortly after midnight, relief for police as well as her family. >> it was a good outcome for us. we had a lot of help from -- from surrounding agencies as well as the nemlec k-9 unit who ultimately was responsible for finding her. sera: condon-frieden was taken to a local hospital to be checked out, but police say she is healthy.

"the telegram" reports the man rode his bike into the back of the truck. right now, a man is preparing shocking crime. police say he pulled a teenager off the street and attacked the victim in this apartment building. today we should get new details on the case. the eyeopener's juli mcdonald live in lawrence where police are taking new action. juli? juli: that's right, antoinette. police quick to make an arrest here. angel mateo will face a judge in lawrence just hours from now. take a look at this photo of mateo, the 21-year-old being arrested on charges of

statutory rape. on their way to school, that 13-year-old allegedly grabbed by mateo and dragged into a second floor apartment at 76 phillips street. police say that victim was sexually assaulted for two hours. the teen then took the five-minute walk to school, called their mother, who then called police. >> the victim was able to provide police with information that led to a capture and arrest. juli: mateo but not a prior sex offernder. there will be an increased police presence in the neighborhood although investigators do say they do not believe there is any threat. live in lawrence this morning, juli mcdonald, wcvb newscenter 5. doug: juli, thank you. right now, a man is under arrest and due in court after a young boy was grazed by a bullet in his bedroom. 19-year-old christian garcia was

erupted on bellingham street. 13-year-old juan lopez delgado was in his bedroom when he was hit in the shoulder with that stray bullet. he's back home this morning after spending time in the hospital. >> he's a little shaken up, especially when you're asleep in your bed and you don't expect anything. and you're on the third floor. doug: the s.u.v. delgado was driving in has been impounded as part of the investigation. new this morning, we're hearing from the mother of a toddler shot last weekend in roxbury. that her daughter is loved. she says, quote, my kids are my life. i felt like a failure as a mom because i couldn't protect her. peoples, who lives in fall river, says she let the girl spend the day with her father in boston. she was shot while sitting in the back of the car. police say her far has gang ties. police need your help in identifying the person seen in the area.

terribly heavy at the moment. what we do have is the fog out there. wherever you see the white, visibility is down. that means from worcester into boston. look at that 1/4 mile visibility. fog on the cape to the north shore and the new hampshire sea coast as well. the fog is out there this morning and it is a muggy feel out the door. 50's and lower 60's. even mid 60's in plymouth right now. definitely a warm start as you are stepping out. you can see where the air is coming from by the motion on radar. notice these showers lifting from south to north. in the waters that are going to continue to feed in today. i would say we continue with these areas of mist and drizzle through the morning hours. notice the steadier rain off to the west. it's focused along this frontal boundary which is having a tough time moving eastward. so until this front really presses eastward, we're not going to see the rain pick up widespread and intense for everyone. but with this flow from the south, temperatures will climb this afternoon despite all the clouds making that run toward 70 in boston. we may sneak up into the lower

it is a warm one for sure. notice on futurecast, keeping the clouds around, the patchy areas of mist and drizzle through the morning hours. just after lunchtime, we see a couple of more showers. the time i'm most concerned about is right around that evening commute. look at the heavier downpours lifting up from the south. this is tropical moisture feeding on in. so not only downpours. there could be a rumble of thunder. this keeps going into tonight. if you have plans friday evening through midnight, there will be periods of heavy rain, downpours. can't even rule out that rumble ofnd things out a little bit but keep a lot of clouds and fog around. upper 50's and lower 60's for overnight lows. it's a mild start tomorrow morning. as the storm lifts northward, winds shift around to the west. they'll be increasing, bringing in chillier area cold enough saturday into sunday that you may see snow in the mountains of northern new hampshire. a few showers on saturday, but the winds are the big issue over the weekend.

doug: a new green space will be created as part of the expansion project. antoinette: to your economy this friday morning -- asian stocks slipped overnight on earnings reports from some of the world's biggest companies. u.s. stock futures are lower. investors will be watching for more earnings reports. presidential politics having an impact on dunkin donuts. the chain says it expects to open fewer franchises this year. that is due to concerns over how the economy could be ceo nigel travis says some franchisees are putting their store plans on hold until after the election. all right. halloween is just around the corner, but what you spend on the holiday can be a real scare. for instance, your candy choices. are you still buying candy corn? doug: stop! antoinette: recent studies show 72% of trick-or-treaters actually prefer chocolate. okay. here's another tip for you.

burlington woman is safe. she is healthy. police say she may have spent up to 30 hours in a swamp in billerica. crews rescued 45-year-old tanya condon-frieden shortly after midnight. she was taken to the local hospital to be checked out, but police say she is okay. a search got underway after she was reported missing. she was found not far from where she was last seen wednesday at 5:00 p.m. investigators are still trying to figure out why she went missing and how she ended up in that swamp. wcvb newscenter 5. antoinette: more breaking news this morning. worcester police are investigating a serious crash involving a tow truck and a bicycle. the man on the bike was seriously injured after colliding with the truck on southbridge street. doug: the man accused of pulling a teenager off the street in lawrence and sexually assaulting that victim is getting ready to face a judge. police are saying the 21-year-old angel mateo was already on pretrial probation and wearing an ankle bracelet at

the later afternoon and evening hours with downpours. a rumble of thunder. it is muggy this morning. we're up around 70 today. lower 60's early tomorrow. as the winds pick up, temperatures fall. 50's on sunday. it's a blustery weekend day. gusty winds and highs only in the 50's. antoinette? antoinette: cindy, thanks. only on 5 this morning -- dramatic moments caught on camera. look at this. a boston police officer drawing a gun on a chase suspect who tried to ram his cru happens. several officers all working to save that man's life. the suspect apparently overdosing. the drama took place in chinatown. you can see the driver inside the s.u.v. screaming and thrashing. seconds later, that man is slumped on the pavement, suffering an apparent overdose. as one officer holds the man's head and massages his chest, another officer grabs the narcan.

massachusetts. there could be downpours and that could exceed these numbers. we'll watch that for you. this morning, very light rain, some patches of drizzle here and there. nothing terribly heavy, but we do have a lot of fog out there. visibility 1/4 to 1/2 mile through a good portion of the area. temperatures in the low 60's this morning. it's muggy. we'll inch closer to 70 as we get into the afternoon as that rain starts to pick up. notice the high temperature right around 70 in boston this afternoon. it is a warm one. you can see there's steady rain to our frontal boundary. we'll see moisture from the south feeding in after the morning commute and after lunchtime, you can see these heavy downpours working through the area. they're with us through midnight and we'll slowly start to shut that rain off as we get into the day tomorrow. lows tonight starting out in the upper 50's and 60's and then the temperatures fall over tomorrow as we have a couple of lingering showers that come through in the afternoon. those showers rotate through on the afternoon.
