no official confirmation on the body pulled from the merrimack river earlier this afternoon, but police say that they do believe it is that of the missing team. recovery crews spent hours in the merrimack river in tyngsboro, pulling out the body of a young man just after 1:00 sund a >> this has been a tragedy for our community. nichole: there is no confirmation the body is that of the missing team. it's a long distance, but authorities say it is possible. >> there is an overflow valve. at the height of a large storm, there can be a discharge in the

was not their fault. >> the guys in the front told me to go in and we went in. >> there are times when little cracks open. it is not right, so therefore there will be a thorough investigation and certainly lessons learned will be used to ensure the chances of it happening again are very low. rhondella: there was a two and a half hour delay. passengers arrived at logan safely and greatly relieved. rhondella richardson, wcvb newscenter 5.ni now, police are searching for a robbery suspect in amesbury. this man is considered armed and dangerous. police say he robbed a citizen's bank around noon and told bank employees he had a gun. they're asking anyone with information to give them a call. this suspect in three other robberies is under arrest. methuen police say this video shows him holding up the methuen cooperative bank on thursday. he's also accused of robbing a wendy's in dracut and a walgreen's in lowell. there's still no word on the woman who reportedly drove the

an abc news tracking poll has clinton leading trump 5238, a double-digit lead prompted by his allegations that the election will be rigged and his treatments of women. another accuser came forward saturday, jessica drake, accusing trump of inappropriate sexual contact in 2006. from suggesting the clinton campaign is involved. mr. trump: every woman lied when they came forward to campaign. all of these liars will be sued after the election. shaun: trump sticking to his claim the election is rigged. ms. clinton: he said something no presidential nominee has ever said -- democrat or republican. nobody, nobody has ever said this. he refused to say he would respect the results of this election, and that is a threat to democracy.

: clinton today making stops in north carolina, trying to maintain that double-digit lead. on "meet the press," trump's came dan mena jurors saying that he will take his case to the people. kellyanne conway: she has doubled her advise from august and most of those are negative against donald trump, the politics of personal destruction , cesspool kind of ads. shaun: hampshire should start tomorrow, the first time people here can vote early. shaun chaiyabhat, wcvb newscenter 5. reid: right now, at least people 10 are dead, and several others are hurt after a tour bus crashed into a semi truck in california. the crash happened on a highway east of l.a. early this morning. police say the tour bus slammed into a semi-truck in north palm springs. all westbound lanes of the highway where it happened were closed and dozens were taken to the hospital. no word on what caused the accident as police are still investigating.

underway right now in iraq. the u.s. military is helping iraqi troops push back against isis to retake the city of mosul. abc's alex marquardt reports, there are already concerns about civilians caught in the crossfire. alex the offensive on mosul in : high gear. more than 30,000 kurdish and iraqi troops are battling toward second biggest city backed by u.s. troops. those american forces advising and calling airstrikes on the frontline. secretary carter: make no mistake. whether they're flying la ground, even behind the front lines they , are at risk. alex this weekend, u.s. : secretary of defense ash carter arrived here in iraq. secretary carter we must do : this. we must protect ourselves from isil. they need to be destroyed. alex carter says this operation : has been a year in the making and encouraged by the progress in the last week. everything, he said, going according to plan. but there is significant resistance.

back on the football field and breaking in a new prosthetic. 13-year-old tommy cox lost his leg in a bad boating accident in 20-13. after the accident, donations poured in to help him buy a new, prosthetic leg. boston marathon bombing survivors pitching in $5,000. now tommy is back in the game and celebrating with his teammates. this morning, playing in the last game of the season. reid: good for him. moving around from school to school can be very trying on a child, but try moving country to country. fois reading and writing difficult. newscenter 5's antoinette antonio introduces us to jay soares and explains how he overcame that obstacle to become a star student on campus. antoinette: take one look at jay soares, and it's not hard to see why he is the big man on campus. but it has not always been easy

side, exactly. we have an intensifying storm system off to our north. they started last night. we are told wind gusting 58 miles per hour, edgartown over 50 as well and so on and so forth. we are looking gorgeous right now, but still windy. westerly winds at 26 miles per hour. very dry out there. the barometer on the way up temporarily. e at 825 mile-per-hour wind gust in plymouth. we have the clear skies out there. we have clouds out to the west. here is the setup. we have an area of low pressure. we have this system off toward northern michigan. this slowly moving out of here. that will cause us to drop off a

showers after midnight or so. nashua to bedford, worcester at 52 degrees. 58 in hyannis and also nantucket. i showed you this system right here. you see saint marie. it's colder up in central canada. this is a reinforcing shot of chillier air that will b here it is, 4:00 in the morning. i think this is a little bit overdone. however, i would not be surprised to see a couple downpours coming down in time for the first part of tomorrow morning's commute. you want the umbrella, the reindeer ready tomorrow. you won't need it in the afternoon as the sun comes out real fast.

to sunshine and still gusty winds out there. a nice day after the morning rain. there comes that cold front. scattered showers coming through and then it turns cooler behind the system, as you will find out in the days ahead. rain showers, possibly south of the mass pike. then clouds giving way to sunshine. we are climbing into the 40's and lower 50's. but again, there is the swinging through here with the rain showers. we mentioned all that. so, we will not have to do that again. a morning shower or two tomorrow and then turning rapidly brighter. boston may be around 50 degrees. that means plenty areas outside of the city will stay in the 40's and i think worcester

reid: the odds were stacked against a high school football player from maine, but he beat them. nichole: he broke his neck last year, but after a year of hard work in rehab he has made a return to the field. todd kazakiwich has his story. alone to walk, that's the biggest part, being so close to not being able to walk, football is just a blessing. todd: chris sarzynski was told by doctors that %70 of people who suffer the injury he did end up in a wheelchair. paralyzed. chris not only be the odds, he returned to football. >> when the doctor says he is cleared to mourad ago, that

people would step up and do that. >> semi parents would say to me you're not going to let him come , back, you're not going to let him come back are you? that was such a hard decision, the biggest thing was his health. making sure the doctor said it was ok. he followed the doctor's orders and maintained his collar to get healthy physically, mentally his goal was to come back and that was such a driving force in getting back to 100% -- i want to play football, i want to play football. todd: chris has been working hard in the year since his injury, trying to mount a comeback, keeping a close eye on this season. >> at the beginning of the recovery process, the coach said you're not even going to have to play. you will be there and you'll help those guys out. at and i was happy with that, and to be able to play is so much more, it makes me so happy to be able to do this my senior year.

his recovery. >> my mom, she home schooled me for 12 weeks, and that was huge, my dad took time off from work, the town was coming by, just huge support, had the entire team at my house every day, and to have that, really helped me through recovery. todd a year after his injury :, todd ran for a touchdown the team he was playing when he got hurt. it was a milestone moment in his recovery but far from the only thing positive he's taken from the injury. >> goal of making eagle, he started thinking about his future post high school. he had a lot of time to think and grow over this. he is thinking about his future, he's focused on his season here, it was his frictional to us as parents. not many people can say they look up to their son and are inspired by their son at the level we are. todd: todd kazakiewich, wcvb newscenter 5. reid: boy, that is true grit.

5:30: a body found in tynsgboro, is believed to be the teen who fell down a storm drain in nashua new hampshire. the body was found along the merrimack river about nine miles from the storm drain this afternoon. investigators believe it's the body of 16-year-old jacob goulet. nichole: police think he fell down an open storm drain at the height of a rain storm on friday night. they are still working to officially identify the body. an investigation is underway into why that storm drain was uncovered. reid: meantime. we've got to check our weather. a beautiful day out there. far better than yesterday. but we still have those wins. w --inds. aj: we do. yesterday was a rainy, raw day. today we freshened up, but we have the wind and that is the combination of those storms developing to our north that brought all of that went right over us. let's look at the numbers, shall we?

massachusetts is wasting millions of dollars, as a program intended to save the state money limps along. investigative reporter mike beaudet digs into the numbers and the reasons behind the failure. mike: in massachusetts, they are almost an endangered species -- flaggers directing traffic on a roads. but mass. still boasts on his website their use will increase. it even points to supposedly active projects like this bridge and brockton, built in 2011, not a flag or insight. michael mcgrath was the deputy chief engineer for construction. >> you are pointed -- pointing to active flagger projects that were completed years ago. is it windowdressing? >> i think it is window dressing. mike: flaggers have always been controversial since they were rolled out under governor deval

cutting into their lucrative detail pay. protest has disappeared and largely, so have the flaggers. data obtained by 5 investigates shows that flaggers have been dropping to less than 100 million dollars in 2015. compare that to police detail costs over the same time -- nearly $30 decreased the following year. but the trend did not continue. as flagger spending kept dropping, detail costs rose higher than never. is the program a failure? >> no, not at all. we have a number of priority projects. we have to use policeman over 45 miles per hour.

>> the reason it is not working is there is a special interest law call the the -- called the prevailing wage law that trumped the reform. mike: that requires flaggers to be paid $40 an hour, not much less than police officers. across the country, they are paid an average of $11 an hour. he says that the legislature should fix the law and allow them to be reasonable wage. is there a potential for safety? -- is there a potential for savings? >> absolutely. mike: according to richard hughes -- >> it was good for a couple years, but the police pressure continued. mike: he shut down his business, and part cause of a lack of

flaggers, there should have been civilian flaggers. mike: does the baker administration not care about saving taxpayer money question mark >> again, safety is the money. mike: we asked the governor's office if it were missing opportunity to save millions. they would only say that the legislature should carefully review advancing anything to the reid: it is time to get an easy pass transponder if you have not already. that is because the mass pike is turning to all electronic tolls. massdot says this will increase safety and reduce congestion. the change starts friday.

>> you are watching newscenter 5 at 5:30 p.m. nichole: a couple honored for helping kids in need for more than 45 years. during that time they've opened their home to dozens of foster kids. reid: newscenter 5's antoinette antonio has the story of kindness and generosity. reporter: sandy and bud wilwerding have been married for 52 years. they have 4 kids, 12 grandkids and one great grand child. for 46 years of their marriage, they also found time to open their home to be foster parents. >> you say, sure i have time for one. i only have one. from there it just kind of voome d. reporter: sandy and bud have fostered 168 kids.

work. >> he brings the money. >> they would be crying and crying. i would say, would anybody be holding you if you went home? you just tell yourself, this is what you -- where you need to be right now. reporter: 32 kids did get adopted to other families. others became family. you don't want to do it monday. she stayed for four years. he still comes back. he is 17, he is adopted. he says he will come back and live with me someday. reporter: right now, two little ones are in their home. both are going back to their parents soon. sandy admits its not easy saying good-bye. there will be tears. not only because of her love for these kids. sandy and bud are retiring from being foster parents. >> it is going to be an

wellness program offering all kinds of services and classes at the hale family center. >> meditation, reiki, yoga, massage. erika: reiki master and yoga instructor dianne cella long felt these practices would benefit families and she would know. she's worked as a nurse here for nearly 40 years. ultimately it was a donation from the non-profit yoga reaches out that allowed the program to flourish. >> i really think that's why we're here in this world is to help others. erika: sarah gardner is the group's founder. honestly the idea to have a yogathon at gillette stadium came first. erika: that's exac event. it all started after sarah's son was born premature. for a time he was cared for at children's and so for 6 years now, money raised has gone to the hospital. they recently hit the million dollar mark and what a difference they've made. >> a lot of parents come in crying and they leave feeling better.

fell thru a storm drain during friday night's storms. newscenter 5's nicole estaphan is live in nashua with the new developments. nicole: you can see the storm drain behind me. friends have been gathering. no official confirmation on that body, but police tell us they believe it is the body of the missing teenager. recovery crews spent hours in the merrimack river in tyngsboro pulling ou sunday afternoon. >> this is a tragedy for our community. nichole: there is no confirmation this is the body of the missing teen. it's a long distance, but authorities say it is possible. >> in a large storm like this when there can be a discharge
