this rain is pretty focused south of the pike. if you're from the pike on northward, i don't think you'll see much of anything. take a look at the radar. south of you in the worcester area heading right into southeastern massachusetts. here's a closer look here at the northern extent of that rain staying south of you in worcester. just starting to brush norwell. a front and once it goes by this morning, the winds kick up a little bit this afternoon. not as gusty as they were yesterday, but it is going to be breezy this afternoon. we'll see that rain likely focus itself on the cape through 8:00 this morning. thereafter, it gets out of here. skies brighten up quickly. the sun will come out pretty quickly later on this morning. look at these temperatures. 40's worcester north and west. 51 in boston. running in the low to mid 50's on cape cod.

the 50's this afternoon. any lingering clouds after 9:00 a.m. loads of sunshine this afternoon. noontime temperatures low to mid 50's. with that wind kicking up, it's going to feel cooler. this is one of the warmer days this week. a much different pattern setting up. let's get you out to the roads. a tough situation south of boston. olessa? olessa: breaking overnight, five people are dead in a wrong-way crash on 495 in middleborough. interstate 495 north near exit 3. a driver was traveling southbound on the northbound side of the highway. the northbound side of the highway is shut down. we'll let you know when it reopens. all lanes are closed right now right near route 28 by exit 3 heading northbound on 495. we do have a reporter heading to the scene. we'll have more information coming up. aside from that, roads are quiet. all the construction has picked up nice and early. no issues on route 3 or the

leverett connector cleared away as well. 128 construction wrapped up. heading north, you're in good shape. road work gone on 495 in andover. trains and buses starting on schedule. emily: right now, a college campus is on edge after a report of a sexual assault inside a dorm. randy: the suspect has not been caught. the eyeopener's sera congi on the b.u. campus this morning with new information. sera: randy and emily, few details are boston university did send out an alert to all students on campus. according to the school, a sexual assault happened at the warren towers, a dorm. it happened in the early morning hours on sunday and was reported to police at 3:00 that afternoon. the suspect is in sexual assault is not known. and, unfortunately, there isn't any description available. now, boston university police are investigating and encouraging anyone with

newscenter 5. randy: sera, thank you. a homicide investigation is underway in boston after a body was found in a car in hyde park. that discovery was made at around 11:30 yesterday morning. this is in the area of 36 williams avenue. the man believed to be in his early 20's was found dead suffering from a gunshot wound. his name has not been released. emily: commit 2016. for the first time, massachusetts voting now between november 4. you can vote early in person or get an early ballot to cast by mail. donald trump and hillary clinton taking their vision for america to the battleground states and erika tarantal tracking where the candidates are today. erika: hillary clinton will be in new hampshire today joined in nashua with elizabeth warren as well as maggie hassan.

randy: the two men who died in a construction site accident in boston will be honored at the state house next spring. kelvin chuck mattocks and robert higgins were killed when the trench in which they were working flooded on friday. the annual workers memorial day dedication honors workers killed on the job. investigators are investigating with caused that trench to flood on dartmouth street. facebook chuck has always been a father to us. he was the rock of the family. he kept us all together. he leaves behind six children and three grandchildren who he recently adopted. new this morning, the massachusetts state police will honor 66 troopers. police officers and civilians in the annual fall state house award ceremony. among those to be honored, the three state police special ops

tarentino jr. they're going to receive the medal of honor. among them, this man who took a bullet in the shoulder in that shoot-out. emily: more trouble for boston latin school involving dress code enforcement. students are protesting a push to exist the existing dress code, telling "the herald" a new notice seemed to be mostly addressed to girls and people of color. the dress code bars see-through clothing, leggings worn without shorts or skirts and gang-related clothing. more than 500 students have asked administrators to reconsider the dress code. school committee members opposing question 2 will rally in front of the state house today. if passed, that referendum would allow up to 12 charter schools every year. protestors will drop off more than 190 resolutions from school

baker does support the referendum. randy: police are asking for help in finding this bank robbery suspect. police say that the man handed the teller a note claiming to have a gun. he got away with cash. anyone with information should call amesbury police. time to get an e-z pass transponder. mass pe electronic tolling this week. the change begins friday of this week. drivers will not have to slow down to pay tolls. the state says that this will increase safety and reduce congestion. if you don't have a transponder, cameras will pick up your license plate and you'll get a bill in the mail. emily: patriots take on buffalo next sunday. tom brady continuing his deflategate revenge leading the pats to a win over the steelers.

looking into reports that no brakes were deployed here. civilian ride-along turns into a nightmare in california. the officer tries to pull over the driver of an s.u.v. the driver veers away, continues going. the high-speed chase begins, and that's when shots are fired. the gunfire forcing the police car to roll to a stop. the officer was not shoulder. -- not injured. the woman suffered minor scratches and cuts from broken class. emily: at&t wants to buy time warner for $85.4 billion. a senate antitrust sub committee says it will hold a hearing on that merger next month. the clinton and trump campaigns have expressed concern about that deal. there's word this morning of a possible settlement between two major fantasy sports companies

boston-based draft kings and fan duel might be forced to pay 8 to 12 million dollars in this settlement. new york's a.g. accused them of false advertising last year and both companies acknowledge they're running low on cash. insiders to the negotiations say they have requested to pay the final settlement in installments. a check of the markets now. asian shares were mostly higher overnight thanks to strong economic data out of japan. this week the attention will likely turn to newly released s. right now stock futures here are higher. randy: college shopping season is well underway. emily: some mistakes students make can cost them like delaying a campus visit until the spring. 25% of prospective students make their trip in april, some for the first time. that can lead to bad or uninformed situations or not considering life after college. job placement is really important. get the numbers and know what

that body discovered yesterday more than 24 hours after jacob was last seen. investigators are working to positively identify that young man. family, friends and strangers grieving the spot where it's believed jacob fell through that drain during friday's storm. >> i can't even imagine. like it doesn't seem real to me that something like this could happen. he was a really funny guy and one of my best friends. doug: the area where the body was found is over in about 9 miles from main street in nashua. as you can see, crews have secured that storm drain cover. they did it sunday afternoon. it's still being investigated why it was ajar. the cones are up. as you can see, it is secure so that nobody else runs into trouble here. we're live in downtown nashua, doug meehan, wcvb newscenter 5. randy: dracut police are asking for help locating a missing woman. they say 75-year-old kathryn lucier was last seen on burdette

lucier suffers with alzheimer's and parkinson's disease. the woman was last seen wearing a light-colored pink or orange shirt and gray sweatpants. emily: airline security concerns after a flight to boston was delayed for hours. two passengers able to board a plane in philadelphia that was supposed to be locked. francesco dedos and his daughter boarded the 9:00 a.m. american airlines flight three hours early yesterday boarding passes, the pilot telling passengers the jetway door was left open allowing the pair to get on unnoticed. passengers needed to switch planes out of an abundance of caution. through a translator, dedos says it was not their fault. >> was it unlocked? >> it was open. it was open. the guys said to go in. >> someone who works for the airlines? >> yes. emily: experts say the door that

we've been getting some rain. we're above average for the month. those downpours on friday certainly helped. going to turn this rain off this morning very quickly and not all of us are seeing it. in fact, take a look at the radar, the bulk of it focused over southeastern massachusetts. there are embedded downpours here skirting the south coast and moving toward you on cape cod. the northern extent of the rain, right around brockton to mansfield, scituate as well. rainfall. you can see it focusing into southeastern massachusetts. to the north and west, breaks in the cloud cover. i think the sun is going to emerge quickly. the breeze is going to kick up this afternoon. you can see on futurecast 7:00 this morning, 7:30, rain is focused along the south coast and cape. it should be exiting by 9:00 this morning. skies clear out quickly. a lot of sunshine in store today. 46 in worcester.

an hour on the cape, nantucket. edgartown gusting over 50. 40 at logan and close out in the worcester area. not nearly as windy this morning. winds have come down to close to 10 miles an hour, but they're going to pick back up this afternoon. you can see once we get out of the morning showers, sustained winds, 15, 20 miles an hour toward the afternoon. clouds this morning and then bright sunshine this afternoon. we've got a frontal boundary racing through this morning with a cluster of showers that has come out of connecticut a into southeastern massachusetts right now. so from boston out along the pike to worcester, points northward, we are dry all day. this rain is really focused in southeastern massachusetts, so from mansfield up to holbrook and over toward about weymouth, you can see that's the northern extent of this. heavier rain brockton to bridgewater and heavier still down here along the south coast and toward the cape where we have good downpours coming through right now. by 7:30 this morning, this is really just consolidated along the south coast and cape and
