you don't have to worry about tomorrow morning's commute but the active system in the midwest will be moving east. even though we're okay in the morning by noon time tomorrow we'll be seeing some snow breaking out in the berkshires. i would say from worcester hills north and west there could be a period of snow but expect rain for the evening commute tomorrow in boston. we'll talk about how much rain and the areas that do get snow how much snow and what follows it in a few minutes. >> breaking right now a pair of earthquakes have rocked italy and that's not far from where a powerful quake killed three people just two months ago. a 6.0 magnitude struck less than an hour ago and a 5.5 magnitude quake hit earlier today. there are no initial reports of injuries but this is all happening 50 miles north of the site of the devastating quake back in august in a small town. >> comment. 2016. take a look at the latest

and an autopsy will be conducted to determine the actual cause of death. state lawmakers are calling for a new position to deal with the growing problem of homelessness in massachusetts. more than 21,000 students were homeless in the state's last school year and that's up more than 19,000 from the year before. lawmakers want the governor to appoint a homeless bazaar to address the issue. the governor defended his efforts saying progress has been what drivers will face when open tolling takes effect this week. this is animation from d.o.t. it shows what the toll booths look like now but starting this weekend all that will be changed. traffic will be fulled to the side as crews start tearing down the booths and fill in the tunnels underneath. then they will work on the outside booth, channel traffic through the middle. as you see right there of the road. once again, here are the dates

eastern mass and really prevent any snow. once you get to worcester, even hartford and springfield may begin as a period of wet snow there but the hilly terrain of worcester county there, could be a period of snow. new hampshire has a chance of snow. berkshires, a strong chance. chances increase and i believe some of the mountains of western maine are going to get clocked by a big snow out of this. it's very, very ss hears a close look. you can see now that the snow is falling in parts of michigan. you can see saginaw in the snow area. chilly high pressure for tonight and tomorrow might even see some limited is up in the morning. partial sunshine because there will be an east wind clouds coming off the ocean and clouds from the west with this developing system. then you see that band of snow for western massachusetts. then that shifts to the north. we get into the rain area. it looks like a pretty

may back into cape ann and south shore a couple of sprinkles overnight and into early tomorrow. inland areas could see limited sun briefly tomorrow and then the clouds thicken up. here's your band of snow. notice there is rain ahead of it but notice the snow never gets anywhere near boston because without elevation it will be pretty tough with that easterly wind warming the low levels of the atmosphere steadily during the day tomorrow but up toward the mountains of vermont and new hampshire, a period of night and ending during the morning commute on friday. could be a few leftover showers. blustery day. maybe appeared of strong winds overnight tomorrow night and on friday, down to the cape and islands. here's the rainfall. potential of an inch or more rain out of this so that's very beneficial as we continue to fight the drought. here's what i'm talking about. snow for the berkshires but up here in the mountains of western maine that's where a good six to
