>> what the t says went wrong that had passengers kicking out windows. breaking details next at 7:00. scary moments inside the back bay t station as smoke blows from an orange line train. good evening. i'm ed harding service is just starting to resume on the orange line. our jorge quiroga is live in back bay to explain what caused the dangerous problem. reporter: the scare was caused by a motor catching fire which triggered a trash fire. passengers described a chaotic scene as the train stalled.

cell phone video shows panicked passengers kicking out windows. >> they did go into panic mode, crying. i am still shaking. >> tracy was in the car. she showed us how she wrapped. passengers say they tried pushing the emergency button. that was done for good reasons. >> he made the proper decision not to open those doors. reporter: five suffered smoke inhalation including an officer.

before 5:00. you can see the station has reopened. the orange line is back up. the incident remains under investigation. maria: thank you. also breaking right now an suv slams into a home on beacon hill , crumbling bricks and leaving the suv's front-end smashed. newscenter 5's shaun chaiyabhat is live at the scene with why police think that car was speeding. reporter: witnesses saw that car speeding before crashing into this house. you are at the large hole there. we're looking into someone's kitchen pantry. now, take a look at the front end of that toyota suv. it went straight thru a brick wall, and left mangeled. the two people inside taken to the hospital. they had to get help to crawl out the back.

was making a delivery, when it suddenly started rolling. it smashed through a garage wall, causing serious damage to the home. the homeowner was in the house, but not in the garage and was not hurt. anchor: look at the current temperatures. to get snow you need cold and moisture. where is the moisture? you don't have to woab there is some snow tracking into our direction. it's going to take a little while. this is tomorrow afternoon. that is snow. we may get some rain and snow.

>> we are not promised tomorrow. anchor: police began to investigate why that driver was going the wrong way. this vigil is wrapping up. there is so much love for this family, for these families in this community. maria: the bristol county da's office releasing its final report on that deadly rampage in taunton. arthur darosa killed two people including george heath and injured a pregnant waitress before he was shot inside the bertucci's at silver city galleria. he was shot by an off-duty plymouth county sheriff deputy. the da's office has found that deputy, james creed was justified and lawful in his actions. he fired a single shot that struck and eventually killed darosa. right now police are looking for a man who exposed himself to a woman in marblehead.

the train started to leave the station. the motor fire triggered a trash fire. maria: that home on beacon hill has been deemed livable after a crash. witnesses say the car was speeding up the street, after being involved in a hit and run on cambridge street. to the hospital. anchor: a private funeral was held for a connecticut woman lost at sea. maria: linda carman and her son went fishing off rhode island last month when nathan says their boat started taking on water then sank. he was rescued off the coast of martha's vineyard eight days later. but she was never found. nathan is now the focus of a federal investigation for reckless endangerment, resulting in death. linda carman's three sisters did not attend today's services questioning the timing of it,

anchor: one family's loss is leaving to a lifesaving mission. and now a new donation. maria: out for use in the city. it's called the sean toomey lifesaver program. sean died in june 2014 of a heart attack. his sister, maureen says there wasn't a defibrillator available when sean suffered his fatal heart attack, but this program is giving others a better chance . reporter: his memory will live on. many important things have come out of this.
