with just days to go until the elections. emily: live radar shows the first snowfall. pushing into the state. rain, gusty wind also on the way. erika: this system could create issues for several commute starting tonight. cindy: if you look at the radar, snowing all into worcester right now but it is not. visibility's still up around 10 miles. springfield, seven snowing and that's no will accumulate. radar is depicting moisture in the air above and this will reach the ground for you around the worcester area as well. there will be accumulations in western massachusetts. three inches or more could fall. you may see a few flakes around the worcester area. a changeover to rain will occur.

his wife. she is a nurse and played a critical role that night. he was off-duty but we know he was armed. he says killing the suspect was the last thing he wanted to do but he had no choice. >> i can't describe it. a strange look in his eye. very serious. no emotion. todd: lieutenant james creed of the plymouth county sheriff's department standing with his right -- with his wife laura and rosemary george heath. the bristol da's report finds he was justified in shooting and killing arthur darosa. >> as he was charging at me he said summoned to the effect of were both going to die today. todd: darosa had attacked three women in macy's. before that he stabbed patricia slavin and wounded her daughter kathleen in their home.

an oklahoma man wanted in a string of killings. michael dale vance junior is wanted for murdering two relatives. also accused of shooting a police officer in the foot sunday night before he was hit. investigators say they have no idea where he may be hiding and they add it is possible he may have died from his gunshot wounds. erika: crews in italy are assessing the damage from a pair of strong earthquakes several aftershocks felt overnight. incredibly, no one was killed. jennifer: overnight central italy rocked by two powerful earthquakes toppling buildings. the first quake, 5.5 magnitude. two hours later, a more powerful 6.1. terrified residents running into the street.

several buildings collapsing in the town of camerino. rescue teams searching for anyone who may be trapped. old is blocking roads. -- boulders locking roads. this 15th century church already weakened by the 6.2 earthquake in late august in the same region that killed nearly 300 people. daylight brought the first assessment, extensive damage across the schools are closed at the quake zone and some residents have been moved to shelter. several people suffered from light injuries but so far officials say there are no deaths. residents say because of that deadly august quake just 12 miles from here, lies were saved because daschle lives were saved because people were out of their homes with a second much stronger tremor hit. emily: skywest pilot is under

the drought monitor updates every thursday morning. it did that this morning and it's virtually unchanged from last week. you are thinking how can that be because we got all that rain especially out in the worcester area, three to four inches. virtually unchanged. still 9.5 inches worcester into boston. we need more of these events to bring more rain while we climb our way out of this drought situation. this next event will bring some is coming. this is welcome news and it's going to be coming as we get deeper into the afternoon and especially overnight. we can see the heaviest of the rain. the downpours. that looks like a high impact that can lead to some localized poor drainage flooding briefly. there could be a rumble of thunder. strong wind also another component that's going to be developing with this storm system. especially just after midnight

a wind advisory for that reason a bid on the coastline. could be some gusts between 40 to 50 miles per hour and that would be enough to do some damage in these areas. we have some cloud cover over boston. we're 47 degrees. wind for the moment turning easterly. starting to pick up around 10 miles per hour at the cape. that wind off the water where the water temperature is 57 degrees has warmed us up into the lower 50's on capeod the deeper inland you go, it's only in the 30's. 38 in worcester but we have lower 30's from hartford to pittsfield and that is where we have the snow flying. the leading edge of that snow has made it all away toward worcester and providence it looks like you are about to get rained on. i'm sure you felt the air so it takes a while for this snow to reach the ground. where you see the white with reduced visibility that's where the snow is reaching the ground.

mile with snow flying around the hartford area. high pressure to the east and that will keep enough cold air in place that we maintain some of the snow especially in higher elevations through parts of northern, western mimi going to see several inches of snow locally or you do might be a few inches one to three toward berkshires and western massachusetts with trace amounts into the highest elevations of worcester county before we change things over to rain. we will be doing that as we go forward in time. the rain should get going around 4:00 this afternoon. you can see it getting into worcester around 2:00 this afternoon and pressing toward the coastline. there may be a little bit of snow through the highest elevations of worcester county but it will change to rain. during the wee hours of the morning can't rule out a rumble of thunder and this all pushes out first thing tomorrow morning and will try things out. tomorrow the temperatures come
