good morning. i'm doug meehan. antoinette: i'm antoinette antonio. we have a mild start. you do not need a jacket. kelly ann: no you do not. right now boston, 60 degrees. it is a great start. we are seeing a light start from the west, but nothing compared to some of the winds we were seeing friday evening. much of the day. the only downside of the forecast today is we have some clouds that will eventually lead to shower chances later this evening. showers are talking along the cold front. that is something we are tracking later tonight out of the great lakes moving in just in time for late this evening around the dinner hour after that as well. we see nice and dry conditions this morning.

the suspect. >> unfortunately it turned ugly. ,the officers tried to disarm, and he kept coming at the officers and let them no choice right here. juli: the commissioner tells us officers and emts are being treated for injuries to their head and back will take the lead on this investigation. live from the south end, juli mcdonald. doug: violence breaking out in several dorchester neighborhoods. a woman was killed and a teen injured in a shooting on washington street yesterday. one woman was at a nearby store when she heard the first shots. she found the woman lying on the ground. that woman was shot in the chest and died from her injuries.

teenager with non life-threatening injuries. police say they believe the teen was the intended target. neighbors tell us they've had enough of the violence. >> we should be one to walk down the street and not have to worry about ducking from bulletin running from cover. if you know something, help the community out, and let stop the madness. doug: right now, police are reviewing surveillance cameras and talking to witnesses. anyone with information is asked to give police a call. gunman in a second shooting. this happening just blocks away from that first shooting. police say a teenager was shot in the area of geneva avenue and waldeck street around 4:30 yesterday. the victim was taken to a hospital and is expected to be ok. police don't know whether this shooting is connected to that incident on washington street. antoinette: a 15-year-old is in the hospital with serious injuries this morning and another teenager facing charges after a house party in lowell. 18-year-old joseph zangerella is

the lowell sun reports the victim suffered serious head injuries in a fight at a party friday night. zangerella is due in court tomorrow. a car fire shut down the entrance to storrow drive. look at those flames. you can see firefighters rushing to put out the flames just outside the tunnel yesterday. this is near exit 26 right off 93 to storrow drive. the ramp was closed while the wreck was cleared. state police say no one was hurt. no word this morning on what caused the fire. >> ladies and gentlemen, the next and first female president of the united states, hillary clinton. doug: like a vegas show. commitment 2016, singer jennifer lopez stumping for hillary clinton in florida. the candidate joining lopez on stage. lopez urged people to get loud at voting booths. clinton, meanwhile, is calling for more information from the

reviewing new emails related to the investigation of clinton's home server. as the eye's nichole berlie reports, donald trump's campaign is now using it as an opportunity to increase the attacks on his rival. nichole: hillary clinton is pushing back hard at the latest email investigation rocking her campaign. mrs. clinton: it's pretty strange to put something like that out with such little information right before an election. it's unprecedented, and it is deeply troubling. nichole: clinton calling on the fbi director to justify the stunning move. mrs. clinton: voters deserve to get full and complete facts. and so we've called on director comey to explain everything right away. put it all out on the table. nichole: for donald trump, this could be the last chance to turn his campaign around.

to blame but herself for her mounting legal troubles. her criminal action was willful, deliberate, intentional, and purposeful. nichole: fbi director james comey opened the latest probe after new emails were discovered while investigating a sexting scandal involving former congressman anthony weiner, the estranged husband of top clinton aide huma abedin. the emails found on a device shared by the couple. in an internal memo to fbi employees, comey wrote, "given that we don't know the significance of this newly discovered collection of emails, i don't want to create a misleading impression." comey says he doesn't know how long the investigation may take. authorities are still seeking approval to investigate the e-mails, it is unclear how much more information voters will

one piece of engine was found 3,000 feet away at a ups warehouse while a second piece was found 1500 feet away. the national transportation safety board saying that it confirmed that friday's fire was caused by an engine failure. however, it is what caused the engine to feel that has not been determined. >> it was mainly limited to cause many pieces of the interior. inside of the cabin. doug: of the 170 people on board 20 passengers and one flight , attendant were injured. most of the injuries happened while sliding down the exit chute. all of them have been released from the hospital. antoinette: thousands of honda owners have yet to get their airbags repaired despite repeated warnings from the automaker. the airbags made by takata have an extremely high chance of rupturing and causing injury or death. honda says it has sent out

investigators have not yet determined who was steering the boat when it crashed. doug: this is an all-in-one -- a n odd one. a powdery substance forced the evacuation of an opera house in new york city. investigators now say that substance may be the ashes of a person who loved opera spread by a man that was attending the opera. police say he sprinkled the ashes into the orchestra pit during an intermission. the incident forced officials to cancel the remainder of the show along with a second performance. police say they don't believe there was any criminal intent, but disposal of the ashes may violate city health codes. antoinette: the president of a medford police union is apologizing after posting this picture. harold macgilvray says he used poor judgment when he posed for a picture with a person dressed as hillary clinton in an orange jumpsuit. the picture was shared on the medford police patrolmen's association facebook. macgilvray says the picture was

worked together to calm down the 31-year-old man inside this apartment. we're told that suspect pulled out a knife, and there was a violent struggle. ems did go into the home first. police running and when the suspect grabbed a knife. the suspect swung repeatedly at the officers as they struggled to get the knife away. the officers were then forced to fire, killing the man. his mother was home while this all happened. called police. commissioner evans tells us emts and police officers are being treated for head and back injuries they suffered during the struggle. in the south end, juli mcdonald, wcvb newscenter 5. antoinette: thank you for that. also breaking this morning, an employee is recovering from a late-night attack near the cedar grove station around 12:30 a.m. this morning.

taken to carney hospital and is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. doug: to maynard, where the community is on edge right now. the state police bomb squad was called in to detonate a suspicious package yesterday. maynard police say someone who lives nearby found the bag on the street. neighbors were evacuated before the explosion. >> they said it was a suspicious package. they were the area. >> there were wires and an object. called the police. they came down, looked at it. obviously, it looks like an explosive device. doug: police are now investigating whether this is connected to a suspicious incident back in september when a bag was found with shell casings and a note mentioning isis. antoinette: a 44-year-old man is under arrest, accused of raping a brockton high school student in the school parking lot. it happened on thursday

on, according to our media partners at the brockton enterprise. police say the suspect, andy thao, knew the victim, who is not being identified. the superintendent declined to comment. an arrest warrant has been issued for the man accused in a deadly shooting in lynn. the essex county das office warns the suspect, 29-year-old sean chandler, is armed and dangerous. he is wanted in connection with the killing of 38-year-old donald yancy. police say yancy was shot in the head inside an apartment in breed's corner late friday night. anyone with information on chandler is asked to contact lynn police. doug: we're learning more about a deadly crash on the mass pike in westborough. this was breaking news yesterday on the eye. the victim thrown from the car and hit by several other vehicles. state police say the driver of the car lost control. six people were in the car, four were ejected including the 26-year-old woman who died. the driver and four other passengers all have serious

how about that? drivers traveling between new york and boston will now pay pike tolls in one of two ways. a bill will be sent in the mail after their license plate is photographed or by having an e.z. pass transponder. the now empty toll booths are expected to cause some confusion and that could lead to big , backups. one driver saw those backups in sturbridge. >> right from where the toll booths would be, up the ramp and , and down the highway. doug: it is only going to get worse from there. tomorrow's commute is expected to be rough. commuters are urged to choose a different route and perhaps leave earlier than normal for work. we have you covered. monday morning will be the first commute with these changes, and olessa stepanova will be watching any hang-ups on the pike as traffic patterns change. i'll be in sky5 bringing you a birds-eye view of exactly what

yesterday. how about that? the commonwealth's top elections official saying the number of early voters may very well end up passing his initial estimates. newscenter 5's david bienick tells us what you need to know if you want to vote early. david: the line of voters was steady but not long at the recreation building in wes secretary of state says 326,000 voters in massachusetts cast a ballot. he now predicts as many as one in five voters will do so before election day. >> so far, it has been a good experience. david: the commonwealth offered grants to towns to help with staffing. 20% of towns decided not to take up the offer. >> it has resulted in some places not offering early voting today, and i am disturbed about

clerk says she loves convenience for voters with collecting, sorting, and storing these early vote ballots requires more time and money than regular election day ballots. >> it is taking us three to five minutes to process every valid ballot that comes in so if i have 5000 voters times three to five minutes, that is a lot of staff time. david: early voting comes with one potential risk. voters remorse. are you concerned over the next 10 days you could want to switch catastrophic. >> clear on the questions and candidates, and happy to have early voted. david: this is the only weekend for early voting. early voting will end next friday. officials will use the last three days to check early voters off of the registry and make sure that on election day, they do not vote again.
