his parents and siblings were with him at the time. the driver got out of the car and spoke with several people and then left. police eventually tracked her down. the driver behind the car involved said the woman probably didn't see the boy coming. >> the kid was so little. the car in front of me i don't think saw the kid run right in front. because my headlights kid underneath the car. reporter: the driver was taken into custody di for questioning. no word on whether any charges were filed. detectives do not think speed was a factor but they want to know why the driver allegedly left the scene. randy: a new bedford police sergeant is suffering serious

doug lon good morning. i want to give you a dramatic example how fast this progress is making on the mass pike. the toll booths that you see here that are closed, drivers were going through those yesterday. today they are zipping through center in between the two toll both booths. this is a totally different traffic pattern than yesterday. it is actually even better. pardon my enthusiasm this quickly. this is hardly the halloween nightmare yesterday many drivers expected. massdot saying there was a 6% reduction in travel yesterday possibly because of people taking halloween off. massdot was concerned the new traffic patterns and the demolition of the old toll plazas. would cause massive traffic jams. demolition of the tolls continuing and ahead of schedule, at last check 13 of the 23 toll locations were either demolished or in the

pipeline, igniting the gas. crews worked to keep flames from spreading, but say they'll let the fire burn out on its own. the 4th firefighter hurt in this crash in boston is now out of the hospital. those firefighters were heading to a call when their truck slammed into an suv yesterday. the fire department says the suv pulled into the path of engine 7 at the intersection of comm ave and dartmouth streets. the impact set off a chain reaction 11 cars damaged. the fire department says the suv driver was hurt but is expected to survive. randy: new details in an alleged attempted kidnapping in londonderry, new hampshire, involving this man. court documents show family members say 22-year-old victor rosario is in an unhealthy mental state, and that they're concerned for the safety of his girlfriend. the pair had broken up the day rosario allegedly stormed into her work, and forcibly took her away. they were tracked to worcester. rosario was released on
