but they did it. good morning. i'm erika tarantal. emily is off today. >> i'm randy price. it was a nail-biting game. both teams fighting for the last second to win. highlights ahead. but first, we want to get to cindy with the forecast. >> reverse the curse around here. we have showers working toward us. they are generally along and north of the pike, starting north of the city of boston. you can see showers moving into there are a few more scattered about southern new hampshire as well. outside that we've got a fairly quiet morning with a lot of clouds, a light wind, and temperatures which are running mostly at or above 60 degrees. 56 in worcester, 54 boston down to plymouth as well. so as the mild start, but this front is across the area and along and north of the front today it is going to be cooler than it is to the south. i don't see us getting out of the 50s. merrimack valley, southern,

mid-to-upper 60s in southeastern massachusetts. morning commute, i think best chance of the showers along and north of pike. that will be the case through lunchtime. as we get into the afternoon, we'll see steadier rain. there will be rain for evening commute, getting into the worcester area, boston 3:00. showers around for the evening commute as well. so good idea to have the umbrella with you. let's get you to the roads and see how we're looking. >> good morning. live look at the pike. this is a check by allston/brighton eastbound heading toward the bottom of the scre directions. let's go to the maps. if you're heading into town, no construction there. south, you're in good shape. along 128, construction in the final stages highland avenue to route 90. this weekend starting at 8:00 p.m. tomorrow they will be shutting down part of 128 and part of highland avenue for some overnight construction that will last the weekend. north of town no problems. trains and buses are expected to

at the scene right now with the breaking details. antoinette? >> randy, a lot of new information coming in overnight. we have learned that 18-year-old victim had just left a friend's house. she was trying to cross the street at gallivan boulevard right here, catching the bus when she was hit by a car. here's a look at video from the scene. this happened around 10:30. you can see the car involved with a smashed-up windshield. the pontiac gt was heading westbound when it hit on the scene and he was interviewed by troopers. investigators will determine if any charges will be filed. as for that victim, she was taken to boston medical center. she is in critical condition this morning. as we learn new information, we'll bring that to you on air, online and with the mobile app. live in dorchester, antoinette antonio, wcvb newscenter 5. >> antoinette, thank you. more breaking news now. two u.s. service members killed

have been hurt. that's according to nato. the service members came under fire during a train, advise, and assist mission with afghanistan partners. >> a 7-year-old boy and his mom were targeted over the last two weeks. they have been the victims of racially-fueled vandalism. right now police have a new clue in finding those responsible. jacquelyn stimpson and her son have lived in derry, new hampshire, for three separate attacks, though, against them -- her car keyed with a racial slur recently, another incident -- eggs, fried chicken and watermelon smeared on the vehicle, thrown in the yard. stimpson says the message is clear. >> it's racial. it's racist. i was hurt. and i didn't realize that people

temperature with 40s to the north and temperatures in the upper 60s to the south. the frontal boundary stalls across our area and it will be much cooler just north of the front. the second area of rain to the west, this will come in this afternoon. we're starting in the 50s in boston. we'll likely hold close to 60 degrees today. but i think the wettest weather comes in after about 3:00 this afternoon to the boston area. about 60 in town, 50s to the north. could get closer to southeastern massachusetts. notice through the morning commute focus of the wet weather is mainly to the north. there might be one or two showers here and there. 2:00, 3:00 this afternoon, here comes steadier showers working in. there will be some pockets of wet weather for the evening commute. i'm not expecting widespread is downpours. things should dry out this evening. overnight the skies clear out. the temperatures drop into the 40s overnight as the winds shift to the north and west.

now. you can see showers around the framingham area. we've got showers to the north. another batch of showers stretching toward the bridgewater area. so there's rain this morning. temperatures are starting out in the 50s. in fact, 54 right now in boston. keep in mind this is very mild for early november. average high this time of year is about 56. it's a mild start this morning. we've got a front across the area. that front will keep the temperatures down as we watch the second area of rain come in front right on in. so where we've got the rain coming in, i think it's going to move into the boston area close to 3:00 this afternoon. so temperatures running only in the 50s north of the pike. but notice south of town, upper 60s again today. you can see the showers focused mainly along and north of pike through lunchtime. they close in on the boston area
