nichole: granite state blitz. massachusetts politicians pour over the border to help candidates up and down the ballot. a.j.: and time to turn the clocks back, and temperatures are dropping, too. my timeline for the rest of the weekend. >> from boston's news leader, this is wcvb newscenter 5. nichole: we're following breaking news out of brockton tonight. a 3-year-old hit by a bullet as gunfire erupts with a peace rally wrapping up nearby. thanks for joining us. i'm nichole berlie. reid: and i'm reid lamberty. our nicole estaphan is live in brockton, where neighbors are concerned for their safety. boy was with family when the bullet went into the living room. the boy was in the kitchen, feet away when he was struck by the bullet. >> it's a shame, discouraging. nicole: the image of a little boy playing with cousins moments earlier, now on a stretcher after bullets from -- fragments from a bullet grazed his leg.

pop. nicole: about 1:00 saturday, several shots were fired outside of 124 bartlett street in brockton. you can see where one of the bullets went into the first floor of a triple-decker. inside, several children. a three-year-old holds his leg. his aunt who did not want her face shown her s anything. finally i pulled it out. nicole: that is when she realized the boy was bleeding. >> usually you get panicked. nicole: she quickly gathered the children and called for help, several stray bullet striking unintended targets. including two very visible bullet holes in this mail truck.

family a few minutes ago told us they will be home, the boy is home resting and doing well. nichole: also break and come a home in roxbury on george street. fire officials say the building collapsed. one victim has died and was killed. julie is in roxbury tonight. julie: that is all that is left of the building that stood neighbor who said just last week they were voicing concerns about the squatters who lived here. she feared for her own safety and theirs. >> i overheard loud banging on the door. the door bell was ringing like crazy. julie: frantic neighbors ran door to door, shouting to warn

inferno. black clouds, flames, as tall as the building and that building. julie: boston fire said one man was killed. the building was known to have squatters, but because it was fully engulfed, firefighters were night able to do primary or secondary searches. >> they are human beings. julie: 11 neighbors were displaced by the damage. is also heartbroken. >> everything is gone. everything in the basement, valuables, pictures. a lot of things were down there and they are gone. julie: firefighters spent hours combing through the collapsed debris as neighbors recover from the trauma too close to home. >> it's crazy.

hospital, but did not survive. no arrests made in this case either. nichole: commitment 2016 coverage, the big push to get out the vote for election day, the candidates were getting to get as many people that is possible. hillary clinton speaking in two states, donald trump traveling to four. >> i'm asking you to dream big because with your vote we are just three days away from the waiting for your entire life. nichole: on his list today, florida, north carolina, nevada, colorado. clinton today also speaking in florida. >> here's what i want you to remember -- i want to be the president for everybody. everybody who agrees with me, people who don't agree with me, people who vote for me, people who don't vote for me.

nichole: a man accused of dragging a police officer in a rented parking lot was caught and arrested. the police say that eric oblenis backed into the officer, dragging him 15 feet and driving away. the officer is going to be ok. the framingham police department under investigation. the discovery at the police station raising serious questions. reid: after the death of a veteran police officer. in update on the officer who survived. a.j.: clouds this evening, but the change in temperatures are heading our way tomorrow. the chilly air that is quick to move out wallowed by milder temperatures ahead. reid: and in sports, the patriots have the weekend off, but the players have a ways to go. here what ready has to say.
