i'm maggie hassan, and new hampshire has a very clear choice: do we keep going with a senator who repeatedly votes with the corporate special interests... or a new senator who sides with the people of new hampshire? my focus has always been on creating opportunity for working families: more affordable. lowering prescription drug costs. and always protecting a woman's right to make her own health care decisions. these are my priorities, why i approve this message... and why i respectfully ask

beautiful late afternoon. now, of course, early evening, with the earlier sunset. the temperatures will fall rather quickly during the first half of the night. not as cold as last night, then they'll steady out. you see skies are clear. as we get to late tonight and tomorrow morning, wind will be turning to the southwest, coming from the southwest. and that will keep a mild regime going tomorrow. the reason tomorrow's temperatures don't reach what cloudiness moving in and maybe a touch, just a touch of damp weather. already you can see the clouds approaching from the west and you do see a band of showers because there's a cold front and if it was just that simple, cold front coming through, yeah, maybe we'd pick up a couple of showers but these may actually survive through maybe about the berkshires and then they weaken. the reason is, there's a low pressure area that will develop on the front. when that happens, a lot of times the moisture consolidates closer to the area of low

expect much rain tomorrow. maybe a spot shower or sprinkle. one area that could get a couple of hours of wet weather could be the south coast or southeastern mass and the cape tomorrow afternoon or evening as the wave of low pressure tries to form but clearing will follow and you will have a lot of sunshine to enjoy on thursday. then a cold front that means business will come through during friday morning. mainly clear skies, no two ways about that tonight. and even early tomorrow, there could be limited sun central and eastern mass as a band of showers approaches the berkshires it. weakens, gets to about springfield and then it's hard to find showers until the area of low pressure creates the threat of a few showers or an hour or two of rain for southeastern mass or the cape later tomorrow. then skies clear tomorrow night, and we're in for a good deal of sunshine on thursday. not as warm as today but an ok day to be outside for november on thursday.
4:49 pm
there's a little band of showers friday morning. that may or may not survive the trip down but the cold air that follows this surely will and later friday, friday night and saturday, there will be a noticeable chill in the air at that time. so check it out. just a possible spritz or two tomorrow. especially southeastern mass or the cape early in the day to the west, we clear nicely on thursday and then friday, which is veterans day, we are going to see the wind start to really pick up first from the southwest, then from theno in a jolt of colder air for later friday, friday night, saturday, -- saturday night but it looks like temperatures will moderate possibly even more than you see there on sunday and monday of next week. ed: our election day coverage continues to roll on at newscenter 5 at at 4:30. maria: we'll check in with our democratic and republican analysts for their take on trump

ed: let's take a look at your economy right now. 4:30, the election day. the dow, nasdaq and suspect all seeing gains today. investors are predicting a hillary clinton victory. welcome back to our special election coverage on newscenter 5 tonight. maria: a closer look at the trends we're seeing nationwide. let's get right out to our chief political reporter with our democratic analyst, and republican analysts. not too much to be said at this point. it's going to be a couple of hours before the polls close in any state but here's the first question. what's the first state you want to see numbers from that will give you a good idea of who won tonight? rob: i think florida. it closes early. if trump doesn't win florida, he's done. >> do you think we'll hear from florida relatively early? >> it's florida so probably not but it's the first state we should look for.
4:54 pm
and they never get things done quickly. >> there are a few battleground states where the voter demographics have changed dramatically over the last four years. what state most benefits clinton? >> florida and nevada with latinos. latinos have changed the whole election this cycle. you'll see that in many states but if she wins florida because of them or nevada which wasn't on the table without them, that's what to look for. >> what about trump? what states benefit him? >> the latino influence is not helping republicans, that immigration wave. you see trump looking north in michigan and iowa, more white states, because that's better for him. >> that's where he spent a lot of time in the last couple of days, in michigan. was that a fool's errand? or do you think it might pay off? >> it would be a fool's errand if he started earlier but i'm not sure you can start this week
4:55 pm
nevada judge rejected trump's lawsuit claiming folks voted illegally on friday. was this an opening salvo for trump if he loses tonight? rob: i think both sides do this. part of it is spin on election day to try and influence their voters and part of it is recount strategy. we saw the democrats sue in north carolina last week. that suit was thrown out. and now we see trump doing it. so a lot of it, i think, is gamesm envelope. >> do you think we'll get a hint tonight as to whether he'll push on if he loses? >> i think trump will do this all night long and after tonight. that's his strategy. he's not going to concede if he loses. he's going to do this all night long. he's going to drag this out and i doubt he even calls hillary clinton so i think you'll continue to see this throughout the evening and unfortunately in the days to come but it won't change the outcome. >> let's shift the focus to new

state -- kelly ayotte, maggie hassan, tight race. the control of the senate might end up being centered on this particular race. rob, if you were to say -- if maggie hassan loses, what do you think she did wrong? rob: i think it's miscalculating getting in the race in the first place. she ran against a moderate, popular senator. she was banking a lot on hillary clinton being a popular nominee and not donald trump being a nominee bringing a different coalition to the table than mitt romney did iw mistake, if she loses, is getting in the race in the first place. >> if kelly ayotte loses, what did she do wrong? >> she would say one thing in washington and do another in new hampshire so she was putting her d.c. ambitions first and that approach caught up with her when she endorsed trump, then supported trump, but then didn't support trump and didn't endorse him but she might vote for him and might write in mike pence. >> thank you. ed: a moment of true inspiration
