battleground states needed to win the electoral college, despite what was a close popular vote. >> that's not the only breaking headline. republican chris sununu is new governor-elect of new hampshire. the senate race is less clear. currently, too close to call between senator kelly ayotte and governor maggie hassan. >> a hotly contested ballot question in the commonwealth is approved. massachusetts will legalize recreational marijuana. the eyeopener team bringing you all of the election results as some votes still being counted. first to cindy and the forecast. >> we've got a milder start this morning. temperatures about 10 degrees warmer than they were as you were heading out yesterday morning. we're running close to 50. boston into worcester. 30s showing up with increasing cloud cover towards you on the cape. elsewhere, a lot of clouds with showers to the west. these are associated with a cold front that's going to come through and bring a few showers through the day. so the morning commute should

the eye's ben simmoneau has been covering the clinton camp. he's in new york as well. >> a bleary-eyed new york city this morning. we are inside the javits center last night. the crowd very confident in the early hours, but right around the 9:00 hour when it looked like some of these big states were going donald trump's way -- florida, north carolina, a very close race in virginia, which hillary clinton did manage to squeak out. the crowd basically deflated like air out of a balloon and then it was downhill from there si night. we have not heard from hillary clinton. she was watching the results just down 5th avenue from donald trump at the peninsula hotel in new york city. we do know she called donald trump in the early-morning hours to concede this race to him. her campaign chair, john podesta, went to the javits center to speak to supporters there. have a listen. >> i want every person across the country who supported hillary to know that your voices

running mostly in the upper 40s boston and worcester. on the cape, low-to-mid 30s for you. low 40s on the north shore in beverlily and towards fitchburg. here's the area of showers to the west. there's an area of low pressure developing along this front. it's going to take a lot of that moisture and focus it to the temperatures much cooler. once that front crosses the area, temperatures won't be as mild tomorrow. but we'll do ok. we'll come close to 60 in boston. mid-to-upper 50s from the worcester hills through merry -- meri mack valley. towards lunchtime, good idea to have an umbrella.

a better chance of showers from boston southward filling in toward the evening commute. toward about 8:00 tonight, showers consolidate along the cape. we're mostly in the 30s, a few upper 20s in our coldest suburbs. high pressure for thursday. so it's back to sunshine tomorrow, but we'll watch this front to the north. it's going to bring in colder weather for the weekend. it's giving us a friday. so during the morning hours, the winds will come from the west-southwest and shift to the north-northwest during the afternoon, gusting close to 40 miles per hour. any outdoor plans on veterans' day will be impacted by the winds. cold weather for the weekend, but we should moderate on sunday. >> expressway by the gas tank northbound side heading to the top of the screen.

shooting on savannah avenue. police responded to the scene about 10:45, found the man suffering with a gunshot wound to his upper body. he was pronounced dead. police have no leads on a suspect. they are asking anyone with information to call them. >> a salem, massachusetts, police officer is due in court after he was arrested for a rape charge. brian butler was arrested yesterday in connection with an details are not known. the chief says she taking time to deal with the personal matter, but is fully committed to her fellow officers. up the coast, a search is under way in gloucester after two people were swept out to sea while fishing. coast guard says the two people were fishing and went along the waterfront when they were hit by a wave at around 3:00 yesterday afternoon. one person was able to swim back, but lost sight of the other person.
