emily: the opioid crisis. new figures by the state of new hampshire show more than 300 people died from drug overdoses in that state so far this year and that number is expected to jump. more the two thirds of the deaths are linked to fentanyl which is 50 times more potent than heroin. just this week massachusetts revealed more than 1000 opioid overdose deaths in the first nine months of the year. most of those deaths were also linked to fentanyl. part to educate students about the opioid epidemic. todd kazakiewich is at mass bay community college were students are being trained to use narcan. >> narcan is in. todd: what you are watching is a simulation using a manikin. a musician see -- emergency medical students using their slimming tea is not can.

>> paramedics have been able to carry narcan for 16 years but only the last three years or so it's been given to emts, firefighters all the way down to police officers. >> a lot of scenario work so students can identify opiate overdoses and treat them as we would in the field. todd: in this scenario the patients had also suffered a traumatic injury. specifically aal students are taught to treat medical issues in less than 15 minutes. these first responders know that the opioid crisis in massachusetts means they will most likely encounter overdoses early on in their careers. some already have. >> part of the syllabus is field clinical work with local ambulance groups. this weekend i was out on a call and we had an overdose and it was very similar.

that's about it through the rest of the afternoon. seeing cloud cover off to the west and a few clouds will fill in. clouds may mix with sunshine as we go through the afternoon but we got high pressure dominating. this front to the north elba drop in and that was going to bring about big temperature changes as we go into the day tomorrow. sunset at 4:26. notice how the temperatures hold pretty steady. holding in the upper 40's keep it in the 40's and most of the suburbs. here comes that front. there will likely be a few showers across northern new england but by the time it drops down around lunchtime tomorrow some passing clouds. the winds start to pick up and on the other side of the front cold air starts to pour in. temperatures little backwards tomorrow will hit high temperatures in the mid-50's before lunchtime.
