emily: good morning. it is friday, november 11, veterans day. i'm emily riemer. randy: i'm randy price. breaking news. a second night of anti-trump protests. the violence overnight in one city and the response from the president-elect. emily: a push to delay a lawsuit over the now defunct trump is called to testify? randy: and an mbta bus driver under arrest. the charges he's facing after allegedly leaving a crash scene. emily: we'll get to all those stories. first we want to check in with cindy. a look at the forecast. winds could be an issue. cindy: yes, especially lunchtime into the afternoon. but temperatures so deceiving, because we're starting out pretty mild. we're in the 40's. in fact, close to 50 in boston. lower 50's on the cape. the skies are mainly clear now.

notice there are clouds, a little area of rain and snow up near quebec associated with a frontal boundary. and this is an arctic front. it's going to be dropping in as we get toward the midday hours. it will bring a few clouds to your late morning and lunchtime. temperatures climb up into the mid 50's before lunch. then they start to go the other way. clear skies. we're in the upper 40's by 4:00 this afternoon, and the winds are going to be picking up with that front. we have a wind advisory for the cape. could see gusts to 40 miles per hour. this wille colder. by day's end, you want clothes with you dressed for wind chills. a very changeable day weatherwise. temperatures backwards today. right now we want to get you out to the roads. good morning, olessa. olessa: a check of the pike, alston-brighton. let's go to the maps and check the rest of your ride. overnight construction, we're fine there.

northbound, construction near kendrick street. the pike is quiet. north of town no problems. we're expect the trains and buses to start on schedule. emily: protests cross the line into riots as thousands fill the streets of portland, oregon. several are under arrest. randy: the president-elect has pointed words about that erika tracking the overnight events. erika: good morning. many of these protests have been ly changed in portland overnight. this is video of the massive crowds from the air. we want to show you the scene on the ground as well. protestors turned violent, setting fires, trashing streets, in one case smashing a woman's car windshield with a baseball bat. there were a number of protests in several states overnight. some shut down highways in colorado and california, for example. president-elect donald trump taking to twitter to take on the protestors, tweeting, just had a

now professional protestors incited by the media are protesting. very unfair. this, of course, comes hours after mr. trump sat down with president obama for the first time. >> the meeting lasted for almost an hour and a half, and as far as i'm concerned, it could have gone on a lot longer. erika: there were no signs of the frequent animosity we've seen, the president-elect honor. mr. trump met with paul ryan and mitch mcconnell. emily? emily: thank you. attorneys for trump say they'll enter settlement talks in the president-elect's upcoming trial involving his defunct trump university. that class-action fraud lawsuit filed in 2010 alleges the university failed to keep its promise to teach real estate success. former students say they spent

was accredited. trump's attorneys ask the trial be delayed after inauguration day in january and the judge suggested that both sides try to settle. randy: it's 4:34 on this friday morning. breaking overnight, a woman is suffering life-threatening injuries after this one-car crash on interstate 495 in marlborough. this was the scene at 11:30 last night in the southbound lanes. after the call came in at around 9:30, the woman was flown to u-mass medical treatment center for treatment. emily: bourne police are stepping up patrols as they search for a man wanted for attacking a 14-year-old girl. the man jumped the teen and attempted to strangle her as she walked to her bus stop on puritan road yesterday. the suspect drove away in an older light-colored sedan. randy: right now, questions surrounding the death of an infant in marlborough. sources tell newscenter 5 5 investigates that a drug overdose might be the blame here.

on harrison place. this was around noon. investigators on the scene into the night. video shows them leaving with bags of evidence. sources tell 5 investigates the infant was just 5 weeks old and was in bed with those unconscious adults. a 19-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man. >> i've seen them walking up and down the street. they seemed very nice, very quiet. not disruptive. honestly, i didn't think it could be that while in the bed, one of the adults rolled over onto the child. overnight, the state released this statement saying the department of children services received a report and is investigating in collaboration with law enforcement. dcf says that due to the ongoing criminal investigation, there will be no further information at this time. emily: right now an mbta bus driver is facing charges accused of leaving the scene of an accident with passengers onboard.

the eye's sera congi live in stoneham with the new details in that driver's arrest. sera? sera: well, emily, police are still trying to sort out exactly what happened. it was passengers on that bus who knew something was wrong and took action. it all ended actually in stoneham, and surveillance video last night captured what was going on as state police cruisers caught up with the route 132 the driver is accused of hitting a parked van in melrose, getting out to look at the damage and then driving off. passengers called 9-1-1. >> when he got out for a couple of minutes and got back on the bus and kept driving. >> everyone was just like pretty much why is he driving? he should not be driving if he's hitting cars. sera: investigators are looking into whether the driver was under the influence of prescription medication.

emily: all right. so here we are 4:44 on a friday. randy: looking at the temperature. emily: today's the day cindy has been talking about could be a wind imfact day. lunchtime through this afternoon, winds will pick up. you'll see a huge difference in the temperatures. the wind and cold will make a big change into the afternoon. take a look on the cape. we've got a wind advisory. that has been issued starting at 1:00 this afternoon. right through 1:00 tomorrow morning, winds are going to pick up out of the northwest and may gust up over 40 miles per hour. right now it's a little breezy outside and the winds are coming from a different direction.

up through the overnight. as we go through the next 12 hours or so, winds really start to pick up. these are sustained winds around lunchtime 20 miles an hour shifting out of the northwest. they will be gusty. by lunchtime, we're gusting close to 30 miles an hour, higher on the cape. those winds will be with us right through the evening hours as well. wind is on the way. temperatures starting out fairly mild. 43 in worcester. upper 40's boston. this is the cold that is gathering getting ready to pour down in our direction as soon as those winds shift to the northwest. it's going to tap into colder air. the leading line is this cold front associated with a little bit of rain and some snow near quebec. a lot of this moisture will dry out as the front drops southward. although skies are clear, i anticipate a couple of clouds as this front drops through. midmorning, 9:00, north of route 2 we're looking at passing clouds.

front is dropping near or south of the pike. so a period of clouds late morning into midday and that's it. we're back to clear skies. and the skies stay clear tonight as well. temperatures late morning into the mid, upper 50's. and then there goes the front and the temperatures go the other way. so by 5:00 this afternoon, we're back down into the 40's, and then those temperatures keep freefalling as we get into the overnight. we'll bottom out in upper 20's. it's a cold start on saturday morning. high pressure noses in. the winds do die down over the course of the day. but it's going to be a chilly first half of the weekend. wind chills a bit of an issue in the morning hours. wind chills likely hold in the 30's throughout the day. we've got clear skies on sunday. we're back in the 50's in the afternoon. we do on sunday night into monday morning have a full moon. it is a super moon, closer than it has been to us in nearly 70 years, since 1948.

olessa: thank you. newscenter 5 on the opioid crisis now and a warning about a new synthetic street drug linked to dozens of deaths across the country. it's called u47700 or also pink. it's similar to fentanyl and showed up once in drugs tested at a state lab in new hampshire and at least one granite state death has been linked to this substance. the d.e.a. is taking emergency action to crack down on that drug. there is among young people. attorney general maura healey committed half a million dollars to the effort yesterday. that money comes from a first in the nation settlement with cvs pharmacy. healey says the grant money will provide school-based education. randy: they approved plans for a new casino.

photos. twin rivers plans to open in 2018 which will be located right on the massachusetts border. check of the markets now. sell-off for asian shares. investors concerned about the possibility of higher interest rates under the donald trump presidency. u.s. stock futures are mixed after the dow smashed a record high. the markets are open today, but most banks are closed in observance of veterans day. new revelations centered around yahoo's new filings show the company had evidence it had been hacked at least 18 months before it launched an investigation. personal information was stolen from nearly 500 million user accounts. yahoo is investigating how much was known about the hack in late 2014. emily: some new balance customers are burning their shoes over the boston-based company's political stance,

their shoes. a spokesman for new balance says the election of donald trump means the company will move in the right direction, meaning the trade deals trump moved against. the company released a statement saying new balance publicly supported the trade positions of hillary clinton, bernie sanders and donald trump that focused on creating american job creation. facebook ceo mark zuckerberg speaks out against criticism of the social network's ability to sway public opinion. and zuckerberg says that fake news stories that circulated on the site about the presidential election and the candidates did not influence the outcome. the ceo claims there are only a small amount of fake stories shared. the company does say it takes the probability of fake news very seriously, and it will do

is a no-fly zone. it will be enforced until the day after he is sworn into office. the trump family lives in that building. only aircraft operated by the secret service, law enforcement and emergency response agencies can operate in the restricted area. emily: no bail for a new hampshire man accused of posing as an f.b.i. agent to get into an arlington home. prosecutors say gannon leblanc may have been planning something worse. they say he showed up at a couple's home wednesday night asking to yews the they found leblanc nearby with a loaded revolver, stun gun, ski mask and rope. they found post-it notes with names and addresses of four people with ties to m.i.t., where leblanc worked. an athol couple could face more charges. the second victim of last month's crime has died. 77-year-old joanne fisher died in a worcester hospital thursday. her 95-year-old husband, thomas

brittany smith and joshua hart remain behind bars. they're due back in court next month. randy: a judge awards $4 million to the cambridge couple who sued this woman over the death of their baby. the 1-year-old died in 2013 under the care of aisling brady mccarthy. murder charges were dropped after the medical examiner changed the baby's cause of death to undetermined. the parents' lawyer, former attorney general martha coakley, $4 million, but the award will stop her from profiting from a movie or a book deal. emily: the man behind the song "hallelujah" has died. canadian singer and songwriter leonard cohen was 82. no details of his death were provided. cohen remained popular into his 80's, tours as recently as this year, releasing a new album last month. a memorial now being planned in

randy: city of boston and mayor marty walsh will soon launch the first in a year-long series of discussions on race. this initiative is an effort to help the city heal from a history of racial climate here and recent racially-fueled incidents. first discussion will be held next saturday, november 19. other conversations are planned in neighborhoods throughout the city next year. show of support for a new hampshire mother and son targeted by racism. over the l 7-year-old eze obiora was the victim of racially fueled vandalism at least three times in his kerry home. support poured in after his mom shared the story. the manchester motorcycle club welcoming him to the ranks as they picked him up from school, gave him a club jacket, then took him out for a ride. he enjoyed that. emily: the bruins put on a show at home for members of the u.s. military.
