sunday, november 13. i'm antoinette antonio. doug: i'm doug meehan. okay. so the patriots playing tonight. the question is how cold will it be? because a november game at night could be brutal, but so far -- kelly ann: you know what? you would assume it would be brutal, but it won't be quite as bad compared to yesterday's temperatures. we're already seeing temperatures starting off in the 40's. this afternoon we're climbing into the upper 50's. it is a night game after the sun sets at 8:30. it will start to cool down at that point. just about what it feels you're heading out right now is what it will feel like heading out to the game tonight. winds about 14 miles per hour. it is starting to get a bit breezy for this morning but nothing compared to some of those wind gusts we saw friday. and winds aren't going to be too much of a factor today. it really is going to feel mild. we're seeing wind chills in the lower 40's which is still warmer than what the actual temperatures were yesterday at this time down into the 20's and 30's. right now it's 46 degrees in downtown boston. plymouth at 37.

this afternoon coming up. antoinette: thank you. right now, boston police investigating a deadly shooting in dorchester. doug: one person was killed. boston police got a call just before 5:00 yesterday on ames street. two of the victims at the scene. both men in their late 20's. one was taken to the hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries. the other man was taken to the hospital where he died a short time later. police have not identified the victim. anyone with information related to this case is asked to call boston police. antoinette: the man shot in the woods in easton this week has died. the district attorney's office says daniel smith died at brigham and women's hospital. he was found by two boys on wednesday. he is originally from easton but had been living in florida. investigators are asking anyone who has seen a red 2016 mazda 3 sedan with florida plates to call police. a serious car accident in medfield last night, the crash happening on harding street

there just snapped in half. the road is back open this morning. no word on any injuries. doug: a fourth day of post election protests going strong, demonstrators making their case against the new president-elect. meanwhile, donald trump is hunkered down, faced with putting together his new white house team. as protestors strain at the barricades surrounding his namesake tower, donald trump's gilded penthouse may feel more like a gilded cage. >> not my president. >> noty doug: for a fourth straight day, crowds were on the street raising their signs and voices against the president-elect. >> i don't want him appointing supreme court justices. >> democracy is a lot more about just voting. it's about getting out, protesting, making sure your voice is heard. doug: from coast to coast, signs of popular resistance to the populist president in waiting.

clashed with police. donald trump was out of the public eye for a second day saturday in his manhattan penthouse that now resembles a guardhouse surrounded with concrete barriers patrolled by heavily armed police, headquarters for team trump. as they put together their new administration. >> the mood is excellent. we're just working really hard to help form a government. doug: when will we hear from president-elect trump? >> in the next couple of days, actually, we're talking about that. right no, family, receiving many visitors, taking phone calls. senior team is with him almost nonstop. these are exciting times. doug: trump telling "60 minutes" when he's president, he'll be more careful about all of those tweets. >> i'm going to be very restrained, if i use it at all. i'm going to be very restrained. doug: new hampshire senator kelly ayotte responding to the "washington post" report that trump is considering her for

"i'm regrouping with my family right now, but i will always find a way to serve our state and our country even as a private citizen because i love new hampshire and our country and i want to make sure we succeed." antoinette: right now, a babson college student is apologizing for taunting female students at nearby wellesley college. wellesley is hillary clinton. friday, he posted a face boob message showing his actions showed extremely poor judgment and that he was deeply sorry for perpetuating fear. the other student has not commented. doug: two u-mass dartmouth students rushed to the hospital after crashing into a utility pole. look at that car. police say based on the damage to that vehicle, both the passenger and driver are lucky to be alive. they're listed in stable condition. the cause of that crash is under investigation. antoinette: firefighters say a

woods reservation friday afternoon. no one was hurt. no homes were threatened. firefighters will be monitoring the area for the next few days to make sure there are no more flames. a tribute to a fallen massachusetts soldier. brian arsenault was an army specialist and a dedicated hockey player. he was killed in afghanistan back in 2014. family and friends gathered in westborough to dedicate a memorial to him at northstar ice sports. it's where he played community. >> he worked in some of the camps here in the summer. this truly was a second home for brian when it was all said and done for all of us. so we couldn't think of a better place to -- to have this memorial. antoinette: all of the money to build the memorial, $35,000, was raised by arsenault's family and friends. a super bowl rematch at gillette

doug: patriots facing the seahawks for the first time since their last-minute victory two years ago. just saying the word seattle seahawks elicits a smile from patriots fans who remember how super bowl xlix ended. and i'm sure they do as well. a bye week giving the patriots plenty of time to prepare. seattle already beating the rest of the afc east, posting victories against the jets, bills and dolphins, but the patriots will be a tougher test. and tom brady knows that the seattle defense is a prett >> they just do what they do and they do it at extremely high level. this is one of those teams. so they've led the league in scoring i think the last four years, given up the fewest amount of points. i wouldn't say they're going to run every defense in the book. i think it's a relatively aggressive plan that they have. doug: kickoff 8:30.

antoinette: good morning. 6:11. right now, wildfires raging across the south. doug: several areas under a state of emergency. the smoke so intense in some areas, residents along the border of georgia and north carolina are asked to wear special masks outside. right now, 37 large fires are burning across seven states.

they anticipate opening november 19 but mother nature must cooperate in order to make that happen. kelly ann: now that song is stuck in my head. taking care of my nantucket girls. antoinette: is that snow going to keep? kelly ann: they will able to keep it around especially as we move into the mountains. here at the lower elevations, it's too warm. we have temperatures in the 40's out there right now. and you're right. weno here's a look at what's going on. we have 46 in downtown boston. 40 at worcester. yesterday at this time, we were seeing the 30's and 20's. so this is a significant jump from what we were seeing yesterday morning, even out in springfield right now, 38 degrees. so really a nice mild start. this is something that's leading us into a mild afternoon as well. and there's that 24-hour temperature change. a 10-degree change for worcester. boston sitting 11 degrees warmer

difference. that's the trend this afternoon and even more monday. temperatures sitting a tad above normal for this time of year as we inch toward the 60-degree mark. clouds are moving through for this morning. this is something that's helping to keep those temperatures warmer for this morning. it's even warmer than projected, because these clouds are serving as a blanket, trapping in that heat, not allowing for those temperatures to get quite a bit cooler for this morning. so that is something that's helping us at this point. but the big question is -- we have we have the afternoon forecast. sun will be breaking through. those clouds will be shifting off the coast. we have this westerly wind that's bringing in these clearing skies. so that will break through by later this afternoon and afternoon. sunshine expected. that's going to help get those temperatures up. it's also going to help to provide for a perfect sky for viewing that super moon tonight and tomorrow morning. temperatures are topping out about 58 degrees in downtown boston. worcester at 53.

overall feeling the warmth especially as we move down toward providence where we're seeing highs closer to 60 degrees for today. we do have high pressure in place. that's why we are seeing clear, dry conditions. winds pushing in from the west bringing in some of that warmth and also some of those dry and clear skies. next storm system is moving up the coast from florida, moving northward right along the eastern seaboard. by tomorrow morning, it's still to our south, but notice how it's starting to accumulate some of that rainfall that so that will be inching toward our area. by monday night, we're seeing some of those clouds moving in, and by the time you head out on tuesday morning, there are those showers creeping in. notice how it brings on the onshore flow of winds and showers. that's something that's going to play a part with our tide as wellment. we have concerns for coastal flooding as we move into late tuesday's forecast. here's the seven-day.

at least one expect was taken into custody. antoinette: wellfleet harbor is set to reopen tomorrow morning. the state division of marine fisheries making the call after finding no evidence of norovirus which sickened more than 80 people who ate oysters harvested there. the harbor will have been closed to harvesting all shellfish except scallops for more than 25 days. four more days than required by law. doug: the large protest in cincinnati. hundreds taking to the streets after the murder case against a former police officer, ray tensing, ended up in a mistrial. the former university of of killing an unarmed black driver, sam dubose, during a traffic stop last year. but prosecutors say jurors couldn't agree whether to convict tensing of murder or voluntary manslaughter. the lead prosecutor will decide by the end of the month whether to retry the case. announcer: now here's bob halloran with sportscenter 5 powered by xfinity. bob: just saying the words seattle seahawks elicits a smile from patriots fans who remember how super bowl xlix ended.

seeing 46 degrees in downtown boston. the winds a bit breezy right now. we are seeing occasional wind gusts up to 15, even 20 miles per hour. however, that's not going to be a major factor today. those winds will be on the lighter end of the scale. that means if you're heading out for the patriots game tonight, yeah, upper 50's this afternoon. by the time kickoff starts, we are down into the upper 40's to mid 40's. a bit cooler for today. definitely make sure you have those layers at the game, doug and antoinette. you. mechanics and manicures in the same spot. the girls auto clinic is open just outside philadelphia. five female mechanics work at the auto shop fixing cars and showing other women how to do it themselves. in that same building is a beauty bar where you can also get a manicure or a blow-out while you wait. doug: so if you get a blow-out -- antoinette: then you get a blow-out. doug: pretty good.

moving on -- it's beginning to look a lot like christmas in manhattan. doug: the second largest tree to go up in rockefeller center was put up yesterday. it was cut down thursday and it made the 140-mile trek. the tree lighting is after thanksgiving and it's going to feature more than 50,000 lights. it's always kind of a really amazing site. -- sight. it's awe-inspiring. no more further. 6:24. a dramatic harbor rescue caught on camera. antoinette: a coast guard team saving a team of stranded boaters. how they pulled that save off in minutes. doug: this young active mother suffered a heart attack, believe it or not. her advice for other healthy women who may be doing too much. antoinette: let's look outside while the two of us regroup.

medfield on harding street. you can see the utility pole snapped in half. it's unclear right now if there are any injuries. the street was closed for some time, but it has since reopened. doug: a mystery surrounding a shooting investigation in easton. the victim has died. he was found in the woods by two teens. investigators are asking anyone who's seen a red 2016 mazda 3 sedan with florida license plates to please give police a call. antoinette: the coast guard releasing footage of a rescue in boston harbor. effort to save two men whose sailboat ran aground near lovells island on friday. our nicole estaphan spoke with the rescuers. >> seas about 2-foot, just enough to be rocking that sailboat around. nicole: a rough water rescue caught on camera after a sailboat runs aground in boston harb harbor, the distress call just

he was about to ingest something with his girlfriend, the baby's mother. the two adults were unresponsive. investigators are looking at the possibility that one of them rolled over onto the baby. the district attorney not confirming if drugs were involved. we do know they were given a drug overdose reversal drug. no charges have been filed. antoinette: the u.s. embassy in afghanistan is closed this morning after yesterday's attack at a u.s. air base. four americans were killed in that suicide bombing attack. the secretary of defense says two u.s. servicemen killed. another 16 u.s. service members were hurt. the taliban is claiming responsibility, saying it was a suicide bomber inside the base. the embassy said in a statement it's closing as a temporary precautionary measure. hundreds of pamphlets dropped in mosul last night. this is the latest move in iraq's push toward the isis-held city. the papers telling residents of the city to be on alert and be ready to attack isis as iraqi

the packets also include information about the victories achieved by the security forces so far. doug: in court tomorrow, the man accused of firing a stray bullet that hit a 13-year-old boy, this happening in his chelsea bedroom. 19-year-old christian garcia was arrested less than 24 hours after gunshots erupted on bellingham street last month. police say he is a known gang member who goes by the name of pumba. 13-y was hit in the shoulder and recovered from his injuries. antoinette: a former priest is facing rape charges also in court tomorrow. 79-year-old michael walsh was indicted in september on allegations that date back to the late 1980's and early 1990's. the abuse allegedly happened when walsh worked as a little league coach and altar boy coordinator at st. brendan's church in dorchester. the accuser is now 38 and recently came forward. he said he did so to protect

new hampshire's supreme court will uphold the rape shield law for the third time in the case involving seth mazzaglia. mazzaglia was sentenced to life in prison for raping and killing university of new hampshire student lizzie marriott in 2012. he's set to appeal the conviction on wednesday. oral arguments will be made open to the public. marriott's sexual history will stay sealed. doug: a close call for a car in cohasset. this pickup truck so close to landing in the water on jerusalem road. nobody was hurt. police say it took an expensive tow to get that truck free. on beacon hill, senate leader stanley rosenberg hopes our blue voting state will be treated fairly with a republican trump administration. later this morning on "on the record," rosenberg points to the commonwealth's status as a national leader in high-tech, health care, and higher education. >> four words, president-elect donald trump.

>> well, hopefully, he will keep his commitment that he's going to be the president for all of the people, and we have 6.8 million of us here in massachusetts. we're part of the all. so i hope he'll treat us fairly, and i hope he'll treat our state government fairly, because we are a donor state. we're the third highest per capita income in the country. we contribute substantial tax revenue to the federal government, and we are entitled to get a substantial portion back here to support our programs and services. doug: rosenberg also suggests significant changes to the new legalized marijuana measure. you can watch it later on this morning. otr starting at 11:00 a.m. antoinette: the mbta is meeting this week to talk safety in light of recent issues. the t's fiscal and management control board will meet tomorrow to go over issues from the first quarter including last month's incident on the orange line when cars filled up with smoke. the meeting will also cover the t's operating budget and employee compensation. a new study looks at smoking habits in our country. doug: it's amazing.

doug: welcome back. it's 6:41. in your health, fewer people are lighting up. the c.d.c. saying cigarette smoking rates are at an all-time low. researchers say the number of smokers dropped about 15%, a drop from 45 million 2015. but the c.d.c. also says more work needs to be done. nearly half of all cancer diagnosis are linked to tobacco use. smoking rates the highest, by the way, among men. antoinette: healthy active women suffering heart attacks. the symptoms may be as simple as neck, jaw or back pain and shortness of breath, something that you may just shrug off. emily riemer tells us it's all a medical mystery that doctors at m.g.h. are trying to figure out. >> it was labor day.

live for. lindsay spent it with her toddler andrew. >> we played all morning. emily: hours after this photo, lindsay was in the emergency room diagnosed with a heart attack. >> it was complete shock. complete shock. emily: lindsay is young, healthy, with no history of heart disease, and yet this coronary angiogram found a tear. >> it looks like if this is your artery, there was a flap kind of doing this on the inside. >> it's not as rare as one would expect. emily: the condition is nicknamed scad and stands for spontaneous coronary artery dissection. doctors are still learning the causes, but they have some clues. it affects significantly more women than men. the average age around 44 years old, and it appears to occur after extreme physical activity or emotional stress. >> it seems that whenever's there's a surge of adrenaline to the heart, it can cause the

right now, it's 46 in boston. worcester at 40 degrees. inland we're seeing a few more 30's at this point. but still feeling some of that mildness to the air. and so that's going to be the case throughout much of today as well as we look to see high pressure keep us under dry conditions. here's those clouds i was talking about. you can see they're moving through our region at this point, really region-wide. there's that very light cloud deck serving as a blanket, keeping our temperatures warm. we want to getid we're seeing high pressure moving in from the west. that will help to bring some of those clearer skies over the great lakes now and through the midsection of the country into our area. so we will start to see the sun break through. you can already start to see some of those clouds eroding as we move out toward upstate new york. that's what's heading our way for later this morning and the afternoon forecast as well. next chance of rain is churning

as we move into the next 48 hours, heading our way by tuesday. we still have severe drought as we move right along the mass pike moving northward. it's an extreme drought still in place. that's why we're seeing that bright red color. that moves through wall street and the north shore as well. it seems the next chance of rain will especially the coast. moving inland, it's a mixed bag, anywhere from 1/2 inch to an inch. that's something we can pinpoint with details as we get closer to the event on tuesday. this is something that's also going to coincide with the huge super moon tonight into monday morning, which also coincides with the king tides. this is something that's going to impact us regardless of the rain call.

on. we have a very high impact of that high tide already without adding in that rainfall moving in. we're looking to see an onshore wind. that's going to really bring that potential for coastal flooding. that we'll be watching for tuesday especially as we head into the afternoon. temperatures today topping out at 58 degrees in downtown boston. marshfield at 58 degrees as well. on the cape, 50's for afternoon highs. moving inland, a few lower 50's, stay on the calmer end. we will see temperatures actually feeling the way they should for this afternoon. here's that seven-day forecast. dry as we head into the forecast today, and tomorrow. but tuesday brings the rainfall, and with that rain, we're looking to see a bit of a drop in temperatures. so we're back down into the mid 50's for much of this week. our next warm-up heads our way next weekend, doug and antoinette. doug: the beach boys came to
