the impressive sight. this is the super moon just outside your window this morning. it's the biggest and brightest moon we've seen in decades. good morning. thank you for joining us. i'm randy price. emily: i'm emily riemer along with cindy fitzgibbon. it is impressive. cindy: shining a light in the windows overnight. we have a little more time to enjoy it. just over an hour. it sets just after 6:00 this morning. as it gets closer to the horizon, it's going to a it is creating high astronomical tides, a concern for tomorrow as the storm approaches our area. all is quiet this morning. it is chilly. quite a range in temperatures right now. we've got 42 boston. 44 worcester. 48 in fitchburg. bedford 29. 27 in orange. norwood down to 30 degrees. 30's closer to the cape cod canal. a chilly start for many of us.

we have a beautiful day on tap with loads of sunshine as high pressure remains in control. but here's the storm we're watching for tomorrow. it's going to throw some of this rain in our direction on tuesday. today we have sunshine. temperatures will rebound. by 9:00 a.m., 50 degrees. as we work into the afternoon hours, it's going into the lower 60's. we're talking about high temperatures this afternoon about 10 degrees above average. lower 60's today. near 60 on cape cod. a beautiful monday on the way. the full timeline on that rain just ahead. good morning, olessa. olessa: live look outside, no problems by alston-brighton. let's go to the maps. a little work left over. as you travel the pike, no problems there. 128 looks great. and north of town, issue-free start. nice and light out of methuen down into boston.

trains and buses starting on schedule. randy: now to breaking news on this monday morning -- emily: a huge fire in belmont. we want to get to the eyeopener's doug meehan live at the scene for us. doug? doug: emily, randy, yes, good morning. the fire is actually down in the farthest part of mclean hospital in belmont. it's down around the corner from where we are right now. but we have some video that was shot by belmont pd. they had tweeted that out earlier, the call coming in and it was a raging inferno. this is an abandoned building, three story brick and wood building, one of two different buildings abandoned in the furthest, deepest part of mclean hospital. no other buildings are threatened with this fire. fire officials don't know how it started just yet. it was an abandoned building. the building is like a

departments out here fighting this fire. so far no word of any injuries. we're just getting to the scene. so we'll work on getting more information for you. but as we can tell you, as far as the rest of mclean hospital, it's safe and in pretty good shape. live in belmont, doug meehan, wcvb newscenter 5. randy: doug, thank you. also breaking in the overnight hours, two arrests tied to a deadly hit-and-run. a bicyclist killed. emily: sera congi is live in taunton where the suspects will face a judge in just hours. sera? sera: emily and randy, a man and woman will both appear here in court at taunton district court at some point today. according to the bristol county d.a.'s office, it was the woman who was behind the wheel that hit a bicyclist who was killed. take a look at va from thursday night. this was the scene around 7:30 at the intersection of broadway and washington in taunton. investigators say 19-year-old cecily kilsby-munfano struck

then left the scene. alfano died over the weekend. kilsby-munfano was charged last night with leaving the scene of a deadly accident and misleading police. second defendant was also charged in connection with this, 26-year-old ryan o'day. he faces one count of accessory after the fact. and both of those two suspects will be arraigned today. live in taunton this morning, sera congi, wcvb newscenter 5. >> don't be afraid. we are going to country back. randy: president-elect trump reassuring protestors they have nothing to fear from his administration. the president-elect was talking policy and more in his first television interview since winning the white house. erika is here with that and the big move today. erika: well, today trump's transition team holds its first formal meeting. vice president-elect mike pence at the helm.

strategist. on "60 minutes," the president-elect addressed several issues including immigration, same-sex marriage, and abortion. >> i'm pro life. the judges will be pro life. having to do with abortion, if it ever were overturned, it would go back to the states. erika: when it comes to people using rhetoric to spread hate or hate crimes, the president-elect had a direct message. >> they're harassing that. and i say stop it. if it -- if it helps, i will say this, and i'll say it right to the camera. stop it. erika: mr. trump continued to label those demonstrating nationwide as professional protestors. randy? randy: new this morning, city

a change in response to the president-elect's position on illegal immigrants. at least one city councilor wants to make boston a sanctuary city. that means local law enforcement

. also in new hampshire right now, firefighters are dealing with several wildfires across that state. the biggest is in the white mountains. about 100 acres burning there. the danger level is moderate, but could become severe due to

so dry the state says that two of the fires were started by lawn mowers. all bonfires need a permit and wood stoves should be used with caution. a super bowl rematch ends in a loss for the patriots. the game ending on this play, a missed fourth down pass to rob gronkowski in the end zone. bob halloran with what they're staying about this stunner. >> it always comes as a bit of a surprise when the patriots lose, week and especially when they had a chance to tie the game in closing seconds but failed to score after getting first and goal from the 2-yard line. this third gave seattle the lead. the seahawks failed on a 2-point conversion, so the patriots were only down 7. they drive the ball down to the 2 with the 26-yard patch to rob gronkowski, but on fourth and

a.m. look up or down. it is cold. 21 in orange. 22 in keene. just 30 in plymouth. mid 40's in the cape. boston and worcester in the lower 40's. quite a variance in temperatures this morning, but the skies are clear. and the warm-up is going to be for everyone as we go into the afternoon. we've still got high pressure hanging on. it's a lighter westerly wind. if you liked yesterday, you'll love today. it's going to be a fantastic today. down the coast we're watching this storm right here, and this is going t us tomorrow. we need it. it has been so dry in the month of november, and we will get beneficial rain tomorrow. today, lots of sunshine. there's that light west-southwesterly wind, 5 to 10 miles an hour this afternoon. feeling really nice in the sunshine. lower 60's. that is a good 10 degrees above average for this time of year. same deal up through nashua, the merrimack valley near 60, worcester hills and cape cod. you can see how clear it is as we get through the day. this is 5:00 p.m. overnight, we'll start to see

yes, but still dry. and temperatures out the door tomorrow morning will be widespread, mostly starting in the 40's. but we are going to wait for that system to lift northward. it brings in clouds first thing in the morning. during the later morning, the rain starts to come in. most of the morning commute is okay. then as the storm moves northward, there will be an onsho onshore flow. the combination of the w action, the high tides, we're going to watch tomorrow at 11:00 a.m., that midday high tide, that is when we could see some minor to pockets of moderate coastal flooding coming up during the day tomorrow. we need the rainfall. it looks beneficial. 1/2 inch to 1 inch of rain. most after the morning commute. your lunch hour is wet. notice heavy downpours possible by midafternoon and rain for the evening commute. doesn't wind down until tuesday night with clearing skies on

owners following more than a dozen reports of sick animals in new hampshire. those animals, most of them foxes, have what's called distemper. police in hudson warn animals with the virus can seem tame but it can prove fatal. >> distemper is highly contagious, especially to dogs and cats. so we are asking that people -- you know, if they have one of these animals in their yard, don't let their pets out. >> keep an eye on whether i you know, certain animals i know shouldn't be out during the day. emily: pet owners are urged to make sure shots are up to date. check for ticks known to spread the virus. randy: your economy, a mixed bag for asian shares. the markets have been mostly stabilized since the presidential election. right now u.s. stock futures are higher. this week investors will be watching for new retail sales and housing numbers. the company that makes splenda,

near 40 on the north shore. 30 in plymouth on the south shore. a lot of 40's on cape cod. so temperatures chilly this morning, but some spots colder than others. notice how clear it is now. we're watching a storm way down here over north carolina. this will come up the coast and bring us some s rain tomorrow. but today's going to feature a lot of sunshine. sun is up at 6:34. we're 50 degrees by 9:00 a.m. 60 at lunchtime and sneaking into the lower 60's this afternoon. this is a good 10 degrees above average for this time warmer than yesterday in most spots. as warm as 64 waltham to framingham. lots of lower 60's metrowest. near 60 in worcester county. even on the cape right around 6 on degrees, a mild afternoon. let's get you out to the roads this morning. how are we doing, olessa? olessa: so far so good. live look outside, check of the expressway. actually, this is route 1 behind me in saugus. southbound side toward the bottom of the screen. nice and light.

the rest of your ride as you travel into boston. construction picked up early on 93 by the leverett connector. no problems on the expressway just yet. and so far you're in good shape on 24 as well as route 3. we have road work on 93 north by 24. that's gone. 128 itself looks good. route 3 quiet out of chelmsford. route 1 problem-free. trip on 93 south nice and light. trains and buses starting on schedule. randy: olessa, thank you. morning. emily: a raging fire burning on mill street. doug meehan has new information. doug? doug: emily, randy, yes, good morning. woe just spoke with the fire chief in belmont with more information about this fire. this is one of the buildings that has been abandoned. at one time it did house patients. it's a three-story brick and wood building. we're in the front part of essentially a horseshoe.

according to the chief, but there is concern that the building could then collapse down upon itself. they're continuing to watch that. the call came in from a belmont police officer that smelled smoke in the area. that alerted them to this fire. belmont police putting out on the twitter a video of that fire. i think we have that so we can show folks at home. that was at about 2:30 this morning. as you can se great job, surrounding departments from various towns arriving on the scene to help belmont. part of the problem is this is in the furthest portion of the mclean hospital property. it's way down in back. and they have a hard time getting water down to this scene. so they continue to soak it. they continue to work it from the outside. but the good news here is that nobody was hurt and there was no report of anybody inside in the

is live in that community with the new break in this case. nicole? nicole: good morning. the suspect facing a slew of charges this morning, but police here do not believe he is the person that pulled the trigger. michael noguera will appear in a south carolina courtroom after he was arrested in a trailer there on saturday. he's charged with accessory to murder after the fact, armed robbery as well as larceny all connected to the shooting death of daniel smith. smith died friday after two boys easton last week near langwater pond. investigators are still looking for a car they believe is connected to the case, a red 2016 mazda 3 sedan with florida license plate 372-qqk. after his arraignment, officials will attempt to extradite that suspect to massachusetts. live in easton, nicole estaphan, wcvb newscenter 5. randy: thank you. and right now brockton police are investigating an armed robbery.

critical day ahead for president-elect trump and his transition team. emily: first we'll check in with cindy and the super moon. still out now. cindy: it will be setting at 6:17. as we saw it rise, it was low and big on the horizon. it sets this morning with the same deal. a cool thing to look at. tides are the very highest of the entire year right now. we've got an offshore wind today. so i don't have too many concerns, but there's a storm down the coast that is going to bring us coast, there's going to be an onshore wind with wave action. tomorrow's midday high tide, there will likely be at least minor if not pockets of moderate coastal flooding. that 11:00 a.m. high tide coming up on tuesday, that's the one i think we need to pay attention to. the wind should be shifting offshore again as we go into wednesday. watching the tides, of course, and look at these reading out the door this morning. all over the place.

across the span of the zakim bridge, leverett connector. let's go to the maps and check the rest of your ride. volume is building out of brockton. 95 looks okay. route 3 as well. traveling the pike eastbound, 15 minutes, 495 to 128. and 93 south looks good. some volume out of methuen. for the most part, we're in good shape down to the leverett connector. trains and buses doing okay. randy: breaking news we're following in belmont this morning. emily: we're just getting new information on a massive fire spoke to the fire chief. doug, what did he have to say? doug: emily, randy, yes. this is an abandoned building on the property at mclean hospital here in belmont. it was a building that used to house patients, but it hasn't for several years. we don't know at this point how the fire started, but the bulk of the fire is over. the fear now is that the brick portion of this building could collapse. that's why firefighters are

ground situation. but we still don't know the cause and no word of any injuries to any firefighters. at least we have some good news at this point. more coming up. and you'll hear from the chief at 6:00. live in belmont, doug meehan, wcvb newscenter 5. emily: breaking overnight, two people arrested in taunton in connection with a hit-and-run that killed a bicyclist. this all happened on thursday night around 11:30 here in taunton on the corner of broadway and washington. the d.a.'s office says the driver struck a 36-year-old man on a bicycle and then allegedly took off. the victim died over the weekend. police arrested 19-year-old cecily kilsby-munfano of taunton for leaving the scene of a crash with death resulting. she is also charged with misleading police. a 26-year-old taunton man is also facing a charge of accessory after the fact. both suspects will be arraigned later today. live at taunton district court,

emily: with the first formal meeting of his transition team, president-elect donald trump is detailing his policy priorities. first the border and deporting undocumented immigrants who committed crime. >> it could be two million, three million. erika: he called on people to stop hateful speech against minority groups and told protestors not to fear his administration. he has priebus chief of staff and controversial former bright bart news executive steve bannon chief strategist. the team says the men will work as, quote, equal partners. emily? emily: thank you. trump saying in that same "60 minutes" interview he's not decided if he will appoint a special prosecutor to investigate hillary clinton and her private email server. he said he would do that during the second presidential debate. he said his plan is to focus on jobs, health care, and
