doug the hopkinton native and : westfield state graduate began brewing his craft cider business 3 years ago. but it's where he started that might surprise you. >> i got into cider cause i was originally a wine guy. doug: after college, snape spent years traveling and working the vineyards of europe. when he returned home he realized the perfect fruit for fermenting was practicly in his -- practically in his own backyard. >> we get all of our apples from massachusetts. we ferment it slowly over the as it is fermenting it turns , into alcohol. we age it either in a barrel or in a tank and then it's a hard cider. and that's just the doug beginning. : this building, that once housed the first gas station in salem now serves as a tasting room. so the public can sample his concoctions and get that all important feedback. >> not eveyone is an all star. some are. people say that's really interesting thank you but no thanks in the future. some people say wow, i didn't

evening. some of the heavier rain may have lifted north but we still have wet weather for the evening. this is where it is coming from, this system as it starts to rise northward but early this morning , 18 in orange, 27 and plymouth. look at these high temperatures, some places them -- wanted more than 40 degrees, spectacular from midmorning through the midafternoon. 56 in boston. still mild with a southwest wind and an easterly wind tomorrow. that will make it a ballgame. the outlying areas are one of the coolest. where the clouds are thinnest is where it has cooled into the 30's. temperatures a not falling that quickly. you can see the clouds are over us. these will be the temperatures overnight tonight. tomorrow the storm starts to make its move in our direction. that is how we wind up with a wet day. we could use significant rain and it looks like this will produce it.

maria: respected journalist gwen ifill has died. she worked for several newspapers including the new york times and washington post

moving onto television. she must recently co-anchored the pbs newshour and hosted washington week. she was 61 years old. she is used to fighting for the goal at the olympics. tonight needham's aly raisman is doing her part in the fight against cancer. ed: the gold-medal-winning gymnast presented a check for $10,000 to dana farber cancer institute today. the money was given in partnership with bridgestone tires, and will go to support lung cancer research. raisman's grandmother was treated at dana farber before she died from lung cancer. maria: an unwelcome visitor in tyngsborough. beware of the bear. one of our viewers spotted him on constantine drive and sent us this picture. you can see him trying to get a peek into the window. that is not the only sighting. we will hear from the woman who stumbled upon this based on her front lawn.
