drizzle out there. also a little bit of fog. visibility a quarter of a mile. improving conditions in boston right now. the visibility was down to around a mile last hour. so that's the way the morning is going to go. we are going to see some improvements, but they will be slow. lots of lower 50s this morning. so the areas of mist and drizzle are patchy. but overall you can see the rain is lifting to our storm. the westerly wind will dry us out. also, with that wind, that's an offshore wind. we're still going to be watching the high tide around midday today. there may be pockets of minor coastal flooding. notice through about noontime, clouds lingers, temperatures in the mid 50s. the skies may try to brighten. temperatures stay in the 50s. want to get you to the roads. good morning, olessa.

robber in newton. they say he targeted a gas station on beacon street last night. the man showed a long gun and took off with money. >> a suspect in a deadly shooting at the oklahoma city airport is dead. will rogers world airport was put on lockdown yesterday afternoon after shots were fired in a parking lot. a southwest airlines employee was killed. police spent hours searching for the shooter before tracking that suspect down in a pickup truck in a parking lot with a shot to the head. police belve attack. operations have resumed at that airport. >> take a look at the top of your screen. that man on a scooter is the suspect in a crime spree in quincy. police say he's hitting the same target and likely others. the eyeopener's antoinette antonio is live in quincy where a mosque there has been hit several times. antoinette? >> the iman islamic center mosque in quincy has been hit at

take a look at your screen. this is surveillance video. you see the suspect on a scooter outside the center last month. he made off with a donation box and then two hours later he returned, taking an audio system worth about $4,000. two weeks later, last friday, that suspect returning once again and breaking in. new deadbolt locks slowing him down, but not stopping him. >> it looks like he's a professional. he protected himself very well. >> quincy police believe the man is the same suspect in other break-ins and businesses in this area. police stepped up patrols. if you recognize that suspect or scooter he was riding, give police a call. we're live in quincy this morning, antoinette antonio, wcvb newscenter 5. >> president-elect donald trump breaking with protocol.

without his media contingent. journalists saw his motorcade leaving the family. reporters were not allowed in the restaurant. president-elect is putting together his transition team. erika tarantal is tracking the latest. >> there are reports ted cruz might several outlets saying president-elect trump could nominate him to be attorney general. cruz was at trump tower yesterday for a private meeting. also there at that meeting, vice president-elect mike pence, who is leading the trump transition. trump took to twitter last night to respond to criticism of his picks thus far.

i'm the only one who knows who the finalist. dr. ben carson is not in the running. his business manager said dr. carson opted out of consideration. >> a terror warning as the holiday season approaches. isis is posting a picture of new york's thanksgiving day parade. and there is concern that trump properties in manhattan could be a target. the trump international hotel is along the parade route. law enforcement warning that an it could well present a highly symbolic target for extremists. trump tower on fifth avenue, the secret service and the new york city police department are still negotiating over how much of that area will be shut down to the public. >> right now we're learning new details in the deadly shooting of a man whose body was found in the woods in easton. police are examining a red mazda they had been searching for it.

the victim's stepfather tells us it belonged to daniel smith, who was found shot in the woods two weeks ago. michael noguera of south carolina is charged as an accessory to murder after active fact. the victim and noguera were on a road trip. the state's highest court will hear requests today to dismiss thousands of criminal drug cases linked to this woman. they want 24,000 cases role in the testing. in 2013 she pleaded guilty to faking test results and tampering with evidence. prosecutors are opposed to mass dismissal, arguing challenges should be heard on a case-by-case basis. >> the massachusetts attorney general's office is reviewing waltham-based childcare website called care.com after a series of complaints. the herald reports the complaints are not released

but we should be closer to two, so we're still behind for the month. this is our deficit for the year. we're close to 10 inches behind where we need to be. we need more rain events. this one, you can see the storm is lifting to the north. so the winds are in the process of shifting around. as we're losing the onshore component of the wind, we'll see lingering moisture. the drizzle, mist kind of come to an end. it's a slow process. the winds are more from the so the tides are still up there. the next high tide is around noon. at that time, there is a coastal flood advisory. we're looking for pockets of minor coastal flooding. the winds will be offshore at that time. that is going to help. you can see the times of high tide closer to noontime, about quarter to 12:00 or so. if you live along the coastline, keep an eye on it towards lunchtime. we've got mist and drizzle on the radar and a lot of fog

three-quarters of a mile from lawrence up to the beverly area. 40s as you get away from the coastline. close to the coast, 50s this morning. keep in mind an average high this time of year is about 52. so really a mild start to the day. we'll hang onto a lot of cloud cover today. after about 2:00 this afternoon, the skies may try to brighten a little bit. but the sun goes down in the 4:00 hour. so don't look for much sunshine today. but despite that, temperatures should climb upper 50s. if we get sunshine sooner, some spots could be closer to 60 degrees. through 8:00 this morning, patches of mist and drizzle drying up. it's going to take the overnight hours before the skies clear out. the temperatures, we're back into the 40s tonight. high pressure will nose in. this will give us sunshine on

storm offshore. the moisture stays offshore, but some of the clouds, even on friday, may start to back into the coastline and that process continues on saturday. so clouds will be increasing on saturday and as we get into sunday, looks like we get some showers in here. the jet stream is going to be changing pretty dramatically. so after being in the 50s through the end of the week, look at the pattern happening. sunday into next week much colder air is going to be settling november times. temperatures stuck in the 40s. >> we're saying hello to thanksgiving. it's time. thank you. this morning, a fairly quiet ride. a little bit damp out there. we had a little bit of construction last night. the weather knocked out a lot of it. 93 south by the lever connector clearing right now. so is the road work on 93 north by route 23. no problems on 95. you're in good shape on route 3

she had a history where she learned to be tough. put it that way. so she was a fighter. she knew what to do. >> carthcart was in the car for eight hours before someone spotted her when the sun came up. we're told she is in stable condition. >> your health this morning. a warning about the popular over-the-counter heartburn medications. a study finds that drugs like nexium, prevacid, prilosec may raise your risk of stroke by 21%. researchers in denmark say the risk appears to be doctors suggest using the drugs for a shorter period of time or at a lower dose. a warning about fluctuation in weight. a lot of us go through. doctors say it could increase a woman's risk of heart disease. research suggests women who yo-yo diet had three and a halftimes the risk of dying from a heart issue compared to people with more stable weight.

>> it is time for "news to go." >> police search for a man who robbed a store in newton last night. this gulf station on beacon street. police say a man threatened the clerk with a long gun and then made off with money and the clerk was not hurt. police used police dogs to try to track down the suspect. no arrests, though, this morning. >> police are asking for help identifying this man in connection with a weston. a 10-year-old boy says the man sped toward him on sunday and got out of the car and walked toward him. he drove off when the boy screamed. police say the man was possibly driving a vw pasat. >> people recover after an s.u.v. collides with a bus in boston yesterday afternoon. police say the driver of the s.u.v. pulled out of a parking

the bus. the driver was cited for failure to yield. >> this elementary school in lawrence will be closed for at least the rest of the week after flames damaged parts of the building. hundreds of staff and students were evacuated from the bruce school monday morning during the fire. nobody was hurt. today students will be able to pick up items they were forced to leave behind. >> an alarming trend in natick. a case of racism has been found at the high school. the principal sent a message to parents after racist graffiti was found in a student restroom calling for the deportation of two teachers. that's after threatening letters were sent to a home on maple street telling the homeowner that natick is strictly white. the f.b.i. contacted police about this incident. a west virginia mayor has resigned after posting an affirmative comment on a racist
