>> from boston's news leader, this is wcvb newscenter 5 at noon. em good afternoon. thanks for joining us. erika: here's a look at some of the stories making headlines. one person seriously hurt in a domestic stir print in hyde park overnight. an arrest warrant has been issued. emily: a woman fighting for her life after being hit by a car near roxbury community college. we are told the driver did stay at the scene.

-- surprise names surface for cabinet responses. police trying to piece together a domestic disturbance that did leave one person hurt. emily: sera congi is live at the courthouse with new details in the case. sera: we are getting some of this new information in taking a look at this arrest warrant that was issued for 26-year-old jeffrey labatt of hyde park. accused of attacking his ex-girlfriend in her home with a knife. broken windows on the first floor of the home. the windshield of the car parked in the driveway is shattered. all signs of violence that took place last night. around 8:30 police were called to the home for a domestic disturbance. the female the taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. neighbors tell me they heard a lot of screaming and glass breaking in the normally peaceful neighborhood.

suspect take off. the arrest warrant just coming in says jeffrey labatt is charged with armed assault to murder. the armed part is the knife and also home invasion, accused of attacking his ex-girlfriend. emily: right now, a woman is battling life-threatening injuries after being hit by a car near roxbury community college. antoinette antonio's live near the scene with details. hit suffering serious injuries. this street, a busy street blocked off for several hours this morning as police investigated and tried to figure out what was best figure out what happened here -- tried to figure out what happened here. [tires screeching] antoinette: the accident reconstruction team testing out the brakes on the vehicle involved in this crash. police not releasing a lot of details.

columbus avenue just across the street from roxbury community college. several articles of clothing, a cane, and issue were left in the street after the crash. we saw the windshield cracked on that car involved. police say the woman was taken to brigham and women's hospital with life-threatening injuries. no word yet on what happens to the driver if any other injuries were suffered or if any charges will be filed. we will keep you posted on this investigation. national police investigating a shooting that injured two people. it happened before 8:00 this morning near lake and ashj streets. a police k-9 was seen searching the area and officers were spotted searching a nearby dumpster. erika: the states highest court is hearing a request to dismiss thousands of criminal drug cases . public defenders and the aclu 124,000 cases linked to former

temperatures that are struggling through the lower 50's. we've been sitting with readings all morning long. temperatures are changed little today due to a lot of cloud cover. we have a west southwesterly wind trying to bring in some drier air. it is a lot of sunshine through parts of connecticut and some of this is going to work in. i expect things to brighten up over the next couple of hours. we have southwest. the tides are high. the coast oflooded visor he until 2:00. we go into the next few hours before the sun sets at 4:21 and there will be a few breaks of sunshine. temperature sneak up into the mid-50's. more sunshine in the forecast. we will talk about that pattern

erika: tufts university reporting an increase in mumps cases. the school says several students at its somerville campus have been diagnosed with the contagious bible disease. students faculty and staff have been informed they are encouraged to get checked out if they have symptoms. tufts is working with health officials to monitor the situation. the new hampshire supreme court hearing the appeal of the man convicted of killing lizzi marriott. seth sentence for killing the westborough native tree at her body was never found. azalea -- appealed based on prior consensual sexual activity. the court has ruled the information will stay private. emily: police includes he tried to track down a man wanted in a crime spree. this is video of the man on a

we need more rain. a lot of lingering clouds. very stubborn cloud deck this wednesday. 52 degrees so it is mild with a west southwesterly wind. running with temperatures at or above average most of the month. we've only had five days where the high temperature had been below average. for the month we're nearly two inches above normal. that's going to ce. the week. through saturday we continue with this warm pattern. starting on sunday into early next week, big dip in the jet stream. this may be persistent. sure it gets started sunday into monday but it's likely going to continue throughout the extent week. a big change coming -- throughout thanksgiving week. a big change coming. running mostly in the 50's. lower 50's on the cape.

we're talking about temperatures that are going to sneak up a couple more degrees as the clouds slowly give way to a few breaks of sunshine. our window is small with sunset at 4:21. i think we will see a few bright spots before the sun goes down. there are areas where we've got sunshine developing to the south and west. on the cape we are starting to see breaks so that will be working in as drier air s overall quiet as we go through the late afternoon hours. you can see how the clouds break up and during the evening and overnight hours that's when we start to clear out. during the overnight with a clearing skies diminishing wind a little chilly. a lot of 30's by tomorrow morning stangl 40's in the city. high settling in for thursday into friday. it looks nice the end of the week with a lot of bright sunshine tomorrow and on friday but all the storm offshore.

onto the cape at some point on friday to saturday. the rain from that system does stay offshore. there's another storm off to the west and this will produce quite a snowstorm. there are blizzard watches for the minneapolis area and that storm will evolve into some rain on sunday. there are indications. one in to -- there could be snow in northern new england and especially in the mountains so the ski areas looking forward to the colder pattern. another nice day tomorrow with warmer than today. upper 50's to near 60 degrees. we will do that again on friday evening to saturday but clouds increase on saturday and there you see the wet weather coming in with showers on sunday. the beginning of that pattern change. 40's into the first part of next week. emily: amazon rolling out black friday deals starting today. erika: the e-commerce giant
