moving toward downtown boston, but as you can see, worcester, we have a good steady shower moving through. it is a cool, gusty rain. many of us in the 40's. in the afternoon, our temperatures will not be getting any warmer. we're staying in the 40's throughout the entire day. we're also starting to see snow moving in mainly affecting the berkshires. you can see the snow mixing in with the rainfall. it's not just the berksh. we're seeing this through much of new england through northern new york extending into western portions of new york affecting the green mountains. this is the snow that we're watching for later this afternoon and evening. most of us missing out on that, but it is something that's going to bring a big cooldown to our area. right now, our temperatures in the 40's, about 47 degrees in downtown boston. those temperatures will fall just a bit as we see that sun

expected with those winds gusting near 40 miles per hour, doug and antoinette. antoinette: all right, kelly ann, thank you. osha investigating a deadly construction site accident in duxbury. doug: this one is awful. one worker was killed while working with a power saw. it happened saturday afternoon on newtown way. police say the 28-year-old man was hit in the throat. firefighters requested a helicopter transport but were told one wasn't available at the time. >> we decided to the beth israel hospital in plymouth. again, significant injuries. had to call osha to come and investigate the accident. they're currently investigating that now with the duxbury police department. doug: firefighters tell us the man died of his injuries at the hospital. his name has not been released. antoinette: a teenager is under arrest after dragging a man from a moving truck. police found that teen driving erratically in worcester.

his arm. the 45-year-old man was eventually freed and he ended up with serious injuries. no word on how he ended up being dragged. that teenager, meanwhile, sped off while police followed. officers arrested him after a brief struggle, and he is now facing several charges. doug: an arrest has been made in this hit-and-run in chelsea. police say it was a tip that helped lead to the arrest of 25-year-old arnold hernandez of lynn on that hit a 72-year-old woman crossing the street. police impounded the minivan as evidence. the woman is expected to recover. we're learning more about a victim hit by a car while walking in a dorchester street friday night. the pedestrian was a woman in her 50's. she was seriously hurt on quincy street. police say the driver stayed at the scene. no charges at this time. antoinette: boston police are asking for your help to track down whoever's responsible for

park on normandy street saturday morning. police say they were called out just before 3:00 a.m. the victim, a man in his late 20's, died at the scene. no other details about the shooting have been released. lawyers for gary sampson preparing their defense in his sentencing retrial. they will begin their case tomorrow. sampson was sentenced to death for a murder spree in 2001 that left three people dead in massachusetts and new hampshire. he was granted a federal prosecutors rested their case on thursday after family members of those killed took the stand. doug: well, an unlikely pair holding a high-level meeting yesterday. president-elect donald trump sitting down with one of his toughest critics, former massachusetts governor mitt romney. that meeting comes as trump works to fill out his cabinet. romney in the running for secretary of state.

the meeting lasted nearly 90 minutes. no sign of a done deal. >> we had a far-reaching conversation with regards to the various theaters in the world where there are interests of the united states of real significance and look forward to the coming administration. doug: trump also met with retired marine corps general james mattis, considered a top prospect for defense secretary. the president-elect has more meetings on deck another local connection to trump's presidency, manchester, new hampshire, police chief nick willard could be in line for a law enforcement position within trump's team. the union leader reporting that willard and trump have engaged in conversation, the newspaper saying willard could be asked to fill roles at the office of national drugs policy or the u.s. department of justice. antoinette: the president-elect also lashing out after friday

mike pence arrived at the show to a crowd cheering and booing. at the end of the show, the cast addressed pence directly, saying they hoped the show inspired him to uphold our american values. trump was not a fan of that, tweeting yesterday that the cast harassed his v.p. actor brandon dixon has a different view. >> i'm so glad that he stayed, because he stayed, and he listened. and i truly appreciate him doing that. antoinette: trump tweeted that the actor should pence. somerville mayor joe curtatone tweeted this at trump. quote, you need to be better than this or nation is in serious trouble. people are going to speak out. and your job is to listen. doug: two senior officials are asking president obama to replace the chief of the national security agency. ash carter and director of national intelligence james clapper believe that admiral michael rogers is not working

the parade along with randy, emily, cindy and olessa. wow, what a crowd turnout. seeing everyone out there was amazing. so awesome. and they are so welcoming down there in plymouth. doug: how's the wrist? antoinette: such a good time. doug: love it. have you noticed the color coordination here? antoinette: ah, the maps. kelly ann: we do warnings and advisories have been issued not so much in boston. it's when we move into western massachusetts. winter storm warnings extended into the berkshires. there's the snow on the radar. it's creeping in. i know, it's getting very close at this point. most of us right now looking to see that rain eventually inch toward the area, but that snow is locking in place for some areas of western massachusetts

much of today and even early tomorrow morning as well. here's a breakdown of what we're seeing. zoom in. boston is dry. this extent of the very light rain is trying to make its way to 128. a lot of this isn't falling yet. keep that in mind. it's mainly as we move into this dark green color that we're seeing the rain falling. that's much of worcester county just west of 495 and extending westward. that's where we're seeing the steadiest of showers along the mass pike as well, moving westward where we eventually see that snow line in. mainly for the berkshires. that's where we see the likelihood of heavier accumulations of snowfall, especially for elevations above 1500 feet. that's where the winter storm warnings are really going into effect where we could see upward of half a foot of snow if not more, especially extending through the green mountains. low pressure in place. that's circulating that cold air along with that snow chance. if we see anything outside of the mountains, likely just a few flakes, something we're watching for later on today.

degrees in boston, 30's as we push westward with pittsfield at 32 degrees. you're heading out right now. that's as warm as we're going to get today. temperatures are going to struggle to get any warmer. we're topping out in the low to mid 40's. those winds gusting near 40 to even 50 miles per hour will make the temperatures feel like it's just about 30 degrees out there. and that will be the case throughout not only today but much of tomorrow as well. here's that rain track. it's pushing into downtown boston as we inch closer to the 6:00 a.m. hour. the question is where's the snow? and at this point most of that is staying west into the berkshires. as we move toward the late morning to early afternoon, notice how some of that rain/snow mix extends out toward the worcester hills. so some of the higher hills could see some grassy coating with that snow pushing eastward. notice how that sticks around into the evening as well. dry along the coastline onto the cape. some of those lingering clouds

early tomorrow morning. could see a few flakes moving toward some of the lower elevations, but most of us will be missing out on accumulations. so we're talking about a few wet snowflakes as this rain comes to an end. heavier accumulations as you push westward and those mountains seeing closer to even 8 inches of snow on the highest of elevations. your seven-day forecast, we are cooling down to 40's tomorrow, feeling like 30. we h single digits for much of tomorrow. now we inch closer to thanksgiving. with that we do see temperatures staying on the lower end of the scale. highs in the 40's. and, in fact, for thanksgiving day, our next chance of rain approaches the area and likely sticks around for much of thanksgiving weekend as well. antoinette: it is cooling down. kelly ann, thank you. 5:16. taking a look at some of the other stories we're following right now. doug: two people under arrest in connection with the killing of a

15-year-old jovan wilson, the grandson of representative danny davis, was shot friday after an argument that may have started over sneakers. davis says he's grieving for his family but says, quote, better education may have prevented that incident. antoinette: listeria concerns forcing sabra dipping company to pull hummus and spreads with a best before date through january 23, 2017, off the shelves. the fda says the products were manufactured at a plant where listeria monocytogenes were found. listeria symptoms can include fever, muscle aches, stiffness, and stomach pain. consumers are urged to discard the product immediately. doug: a stunning situation in texas. first responders somehow missed a toddler on the floor of that crashed s.u.v. the 3-year-old girl apparently thrown to the floor in that accident. a local fire chief says responders saw the car seat in

map going no! kelly ann: there's a whole lot of colors on that map. we're tracking some snow for areas of western massachusetts right now. this is the thing. we're seeing a very heavy rain moving through worcester county at this point. that snow is becoming rather steady as we move into the berkshires at this point. this is something that's been around for at least an hour now. we're starting to see that stick to the roadways as well. so a lot to track at this point this morning. let's look we have light rainfall now pushing through. hyannis reporting a very light rain moving along 495 as well and even extending now onto 128, especially some of the southern extents. moving out through worcester, there's the heaviest of rainfall affecting the mass pike. that snow which is moving well through the berkshires, it's starting to inch toward 91. this is where we're seeing the rain/snow mix line target to

connection with this hit and run in chelsea, police arresting arnold hernandez of lynn yesterday. they say he was driving a minivan that hit a woman crossing the street on friday. the woman is expected to recover. antoinette: right now, answers on the south shore after the body of a kayaker washed up on the beach. nicole estaphan reports on the details. >> this is a tragic accident. nicole: for hours saturday, police searched for the body of a kayaker whose body washed ashore in hull. by evening he was identified as douglas king of weymouth, thought to have gone out in the chilly waters sometime in the early morning. >> the water was rough out there, and it looks like he got separated from his kayak and there was some sort of event in the water. nicole: king was wearing a wet suit. a life jacket was found nearby. his recreational kayak not made for the rough waters.

kayakers that go out all winter long. nicole: with no i.d., it took some time to find family members, rescuers urging others, if you head out to sea alone, make sure people know of your plans and have a cellphone with you in case of emergency. rescuers also stressing to kayakers as well as other boaters to never underestimate the power of the sea, especially during these winter months. in hull, nicole estaphan, wcvb newscenter 5. antoinette: a teenager in serious condition and charges after a police chase in wareham ended in a crash. police say just after they broke off the chase saturday, the 17-year-old's car skidded off the road and he was thrown from this car. he's now facing a list of charges, including operating with a suspended license and speeding. police say that chase started just before 4:30 a.m. when the teen sideswiped another driver. students at westfield state university sent home early for thanksgiving break thanks to water pressure issues in the

the school will close today at 4:00. the school says canceling classes will help the city toward resolving the water issues. westfield has restricted water use throughout the city reminding people to conserve. doug: well, a quick spreading fire in nsh nashua, new hampshire, is under investigation. the fire spread to two alarms with flames shooting through the attic and the roof. the fire appears to have started in a first floor wall. one firefighter was treated for minor head and neck injuries. some students of bruce school in lawrence are headed back to school tomorrow. sorry kids. the school was damaged when a fire ripped through a second floor classroom last week. students in grades three through five will return monday. grades six through eight will have no school again this week. over 500 students were evacuated from the building when flames broke out on monday. nobody was hurt. investigators say the fire was

overload of a power strip. antoinette: an alarming message from beverly's police chief. the chief tweeting the city had five overdoses in just 24 hours, three of those five were fatal overdoses. the chief asks anyone who knows someone in need of treatment to reach out. he says, quote, we can find them help. in nashua, new hampshire, overdoses prompting the creation of safe stations. each of the six fire stations in nashua now designed safe station where anyone looking to be connected to a reve can go to for help. firefighters hope more people will reach out to them before it's too late. the town is following in manchester's foot steps where nearly 600 people have gotten help since may. >> they don't know where to turn and they are ready to try and stop. and that's when we want to catch these folks. antoinette: nashua has already seen four fatal overdoses this month. doug: well, a protest of

saturday. two people from the national policy institute approached protestors hoping to interview them. that's when one of the protestors knocked the man's camera, leading to a fight. one man from npi ended up with a gash on his forehead. the two protestors were detained by police. npi's leader is known for promoting white supremacist views. boston mayor marty walsh looking to heal scars in boston as he takes step to address racism. he says i as newscenter 5's david bienick reports, he's kicking off a year-long series of town hall discussions. david: the talk from offstage was often personal. >> from an early age, i learned to be afraid to be black. david: the reaction from the audience was at times emotional. >> people who look like me didn't have the courage or the will. david: several hundred people from boston and surrounding towns turned out for mayor marty

staying in place through much of today and even through tonight as well, which is why accumulations there are going to get rather impressive, especially for elevations above 1500 feet. here's a look at the track of the rainfall and right now we're seeing some of the heaviest rain starting to shift northward. it is now extending into downtown boston. you can see that rain line which pushes all the way down right along the coast and onto the cape as well where we're seeing reports of very line rain in portions of worcester county moving northward toward new hampshire as well and into the merrimack valley. we have some light snow also being reported. as you can see, that line extends eastward now. it's starting to make its way on to 91. that's where we're seeing reports of a rain/snow mix, mainly snow as we move toward pittsfield, an area that will likely see over 6 inches, even 10 inches of snowfall when all is said and done. that's as we move into tonight

pretty much as warm as they're going to get today. we have 47 degrees in downtown boston. and that is the high temperature for the day. we're actually going to see the temperatures start to slowly fall as we head into the afternoon. you add in the wind. that means things are going to feel even colder. hyannis at a high of 50 degrees this morning. springfield at 37. that's the max temperature we'll see for today, especially as those winds start to pick up. we'll see winds being sustained at about 23 miles per hour with gusts c wind gusts up to 50 miles per hour. can't be ruled out. so for today, we have a cool rain and windy conditions pushing in. snow mainly west. however, we could see a few snowflakes even in the lower elevations eastward moving toward boston as we head into the forecast tonight and into early tomorrow morning. likely nothing that will accumulate. temperatures this afternoon in the mid to upper 40's. that's mainly because we're in this very cold flow behind this storm system pushing into the area. gusty winds staying in place.
