and cokie roberts. e president-elect leaned in to general james mattis, mad dog mattis as a possible secretary of defense. what can you tell us? >> they share a lot of the same views about the military and foreign policy. since retiring in 2013, mattis has been critical of defense cuts, of announcing draw-downs in afghanistan in advance, and our approach to fighting rad a call jihadists. yi terrorists. he's belod by troops. the kind of general who would take christmas duty watch so younger marines with families could enjoy holidays. women in the military may have issues with where he stands on women in combat. he would have to get a kongs nal waiver because you have t be out of uniform for seven years to serve as defense secretary.
