>> from boston's news leader, this is wcvb newscenter 5 at noon. antoinette: making headlines right now. four boston police officers recovering after a violent confrontation. two were dragged by a suspect's car. the other two, nearly hit by the vehicle. another busy day in the skies and on the roads ahead of the thanksgiving holiday. this year the number of travelers is expected to be up. so far, the weather in new england is cooperating with

now but them may not be the case for the holiday itself or for your black friday shopping plans. let's check in with cindy fitzgibbon keeping a close eye on the system. cindy: store moving through the midwest. wintry precipitation around the cleveland area stretching up through parts of michigan back into wisconsin. this is moving in our direction. as it does so it's bumping into chilly air. see off to the west 20's and 30's. going to beat half to dislodge the cold air as the moisture starts to move in tomorrow morning. great shape the rest of the afternoon. clear skies up until the sunsets at 4:16. low to mid 40's. once the sun goes down clouds begin to increase and you can see that on futurecast with clouds filling in overnight. sunrise tomorrow is quiet but

snow starts to shift in and along and north of the pike that may persist until mid to late morning where we could see a dusting of snow. we will break down the full-time line just ahead. antoinette: today is expected to be a busy one of the roads. let's take a look. live pictures from the southeast expressway heading south. in recent years the tuesday before thanksgiving has been the busiest travel day but that does not mean you're out of the woods today. aaa is than 5% increase in travel this holiday season. most of that is on the roads. today the busiest travel times are expected to be about 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. the usual chokepoints are on the mass pike at the 128, 495 and 84 interchanges. open tolling should make that a little better this year. four police officers injured overnight in a violent

officers are doing. doug meehan live in dorchester right now. doug: first and foremost those officers have been treated and released from the hospital. this was a violent confrontation outside dublin house. the suspects car is in the street. does off best two officers approach. those two officers reach inside the vehicle to try to get the keys takes off dragging those officers and hitting two more. >> we got a car that just hit a police officer. flying of columbia road. doug: capturing the chaotic scene earlier this morning. it was around 12:30 a.m. when somebody called police to report seeing a person with a gun outside the dublin house. two plainclothes officers were

other uniformed officers. they approached the suspect vehicle when the situation quickly escalated. >> when the officers had to handle and ask to get out of the car, he accelerated dragging a couple of officers down the street. doug: those officers were transported to brigham and women's hospital. the suspect fleeing of columbia road with police losing sight of him several blocks away neighboring business may have captured images of what happened. investigators hoping it provides them with additional information. bpd brass actually feeling thankful on this, the day before thanksgiving. >> four officers that went to the hospital subsequent to their injuries, non life-threatening. thankful for that considering with going on in the world

makers to block out most apps when the phone is being used by someone driving a car. the guidelines unveiled today are designed to reduce crashes caused by drivers distracted by phones. the feds also want automakers to make infotainment systems easy to pair with smart phones. a safety recall for toyota's sienna minivans. the japanese automaker says the sliding doors ofhe open while the van is moving. models between 2011 at 2016 are included in this recall. toyota will repair the doors for free. it is still developing a remedy for this problem. the company says it will notify owners about the fix but mid-january. a federal court is blocking the new rule which gives overtime to 4 million more workers. a district court in east texas as granted a nationwide preliminary injunction that

up to the great lakes we got a storm and on the northern end it is wintry precipitation. snow around minneapolis into parts of michigan as well. our winter weather advisory's now extended to parts of new york state in the north offense -- and northern pennsylvania. it's been cold around here. beautiful blue sky sort of day in boston. we have managed to since sunday the winds are down under 15 miles per hour. wind out of the west northwest at 12 miles per hour. high pressure is nosing in. the winds are going to come down as weak it deeper into the afternoon. temperatures are still in the mid-30's around the worcester area. lower 40's and the cape. one of the warmer spots at 44. in boston we are 42 degrees. it

the past few days but we are still below average. typical high this time of year is 49 degrees and we're not going to quite get there. cooler than average day but at least we have the sunshine. not too much of a wind chill. winds died down especially after the sun goes down. we will see the clouds start to increase as we get past sunset. tonight lowe's will drop back down into the 20's to around the freezing mark of us you are on the cape were beholden the mid-30's. that can be problematic for tomorrow morning. will watch moisture begin to move in. after sunrise the midmorning. along and north of the cape likely holding up for snow and is that whole area expands closer to the coast in a mix with rain. up until about lunchtime tomorrow if you have plans to do traveling you may encounter snow . if you're headed to football games in the morning hours there
