watching steadier rain, as well, up on the north shore, you can see it is stretched from lynn over to gloucester up to manchester, so this is our steadiest area of rain, but outside of that, a couple of patches of mist and drizzle, and the temperatures outside of 495 are colder, so there could be one or two slippery spots. it's 36 degrees in worcester, but in jaffrey it's 34, 36 in lawrence, as well, and you get into boston, 40 degrees, and we have got mid and also some fog, so not the nicest morning out there, and it's going to be a damp day, so have an umbrella with you, if you are heading out here on this black friday, still some showers about drizzle around at noontime, but notice the temperatures coming up. mid to upper 40s, could make a run towards 50 from marshfield, plymouth, down to the cape, low to mid 40s north and west of town so we step you through the morning hours, and a couple of showers, some drizzle, some mist, by noontime, and pretty much the same sort of thing but there may be a band of showers organizing towards the worcester area that does drift towards the

toys 'r' us in framingham. looking the part. >> let the games begin on this black friday, and santa yoda says shop, you will. lots of people out this morning here, in many stores that opened at midnight. this toys 'r' us opening at 1:00. people have filled up their carts, gone to the car, and come back, and filled those carts again. very, very busy. and 136 million shoppers will be hitting the stores and across the country. black friday, even though it has lost the luster because the sales start earlier, sets the tone for the holiday season. this is one of the popular toys, i have to say, there are a lot of moms and dads wearing pajamas because they never went to bed from thanksgiving. they just went out shopping hitting the stores. they are the true super super hs

online, and leave your credit cards at home, use cash. experts say this will help you think more about every purchase. >> the stories we're following on this friday morning, the suspect accused in an attack on four boston police officers will be facing a judge. that will happen in hours, and the eye's antoinette antonio is in dorchester this morning to set the stage for this. >> that suspect is due here in court later on today. he faces charges of assault and accused in this run-in with the four police officers. police say that weeks is accused of dragging two of the officers with this car, and then hitting the other two with his car knocking them to the ground. all of this happening early on wednesday outside of the dublin house bar on stoughton street here in dorchester. the officers were responding to a call of a person with a gun, and while questioning weeks in his car, police say that he put the vehicle in gear and hit the gas while trying to take the

dragged for about 20 feet. the other two officers were hurt when they were hit by the car during that getaway. none of them were seriously hurt. they were treated and released from the hospital. as for weeks, he initially got away, but police were able to catch up with him a few hours later and today he faces a judge. live outside of dorchester district court this morning, antoinette antonio, wcvb newscenter 5. randy: thank you. the suspect in the fatal shooting of a police officer at university will be charged today, as well. 29-year-old officer colin rose died a day after he was shot on that detroit campus. investigates say that he was shot in the head while investigating car break-ins tuesday night. officer rose, a five-year veteran of that university's police force. >> we are still waiting to learn the name of the u.s. service member killed in syria. the pentagon has yet to release that information. that service member died when a bomb exploded in the northern part of the country.

in syria training and advising local groups fighting isis. president-elect donald trump spent thanksgiving in florida but it was no holiday conflict. trump faces a divided inner circle with tension over his pick for secretary of state coming into public view. trump's senior advisor kelly ann conaway tweeting out this message, receiving a deluge of social media and private comments regarding mitt romney, another tweet, some loyalists warn against romney as secretary she says she's only tweeting what she has discussed with trump. no comment on the infighting from the president-elect but he was talking on social media. he is trying to keep the air-conditioning company carrier from taking jobs to mexico. >> there is alleged sex acts on a school bus of young children. a spokesperson held the herald,

visibility not a big issue in town. but as you get to the north, and especially the west, notice out towards the worcester area, visibility a couple miles so that fog is around in spots, also the drizzle. temperatures not far from 40 degrees but notice throughout the day, showers, drizzle, right through sunset so a good idea to have the umbrella with you today. at least wet weather gear. notice the temperature is 40, mid 40s on the cape but north and west, we're in the low to mid 30s, so especially outside of 495, there could be a few slippery. so do keep that in mind. the radar picking up on the steadiest rain from southern new hampshire around manchester and nashua, and down to 495, so from lowell to havrill, we are looking at showers. and outside of this area, there is not a lot happening in the northeast. a few snow showers up through the state of maine, and the storm is way off the semiconductor. there is energy back to the west, and in between we're left with this weak flow today, so definitely not the water that's

30's. and probably around 50, and marshfeed, plymouth, lower 50s on the cape. we're going to be coolest this afternoon over the interior from worcester up into southern new hampshire, and only in the low 40s as we go through the afternoon. but here you see on the future, a few showers organizing here, and these will drift towards the coast as we get towards 5:00, 6:00, so that's why i say keep the wet weather gear on. not raining all the time, but it's a damp day overall, and a lot of clouds, could be some most stay above freezing tonight, and we're going to watch a storm get going in the waters to the south tomorrow. that may throw back some showers into massachusetts, so the cape and the coastline on saturday, a good chance you will see additional rain but this whole storm begins to strengthen and pull away on sunday. but it is going to bring snow to northern maine, and we're going to get in on the gusty breeze but that a brings in the brighter skies on sunday so we are going to get back the

so as we go into the middle of the week, a bubble of warmth building in, temperatures warming back into the 50s, but it does come with showers. we do need the rain towards the middle of the week. speaking of wet roads, let's go out there now, kevin, how are we looking? >> looking pretty good. lighter than normal volume, and that's expected today. the day after thanksgiving. black friday shoppers are out, especially around the shopping areas, 93, summerville, a nice ride heading towards the lower deck, no troubles downtown on the lower deck, coming in from the tobin bridge, and we do have one minor incident here, route 2 by piper road in actin. a crash involving at least one vehicle up and over the guardrail, we are seeing delays eastbound into that crash scene. no other major problems up to the north around 128, 93, route 3, all moving well with light volume. cindy mentioned the rains coming down, across 495, and on in towards 128. south of town, much the same,

vincent weeks faces charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. he's accused of mowing those officers down on wednesday in dorchester. and a new hampshire couple rescued after fire breaks out in their home. this morning we're hearing the calls to 9-1-1. that disabled manchester couple was trapped inside the bedroom of their second story apartment on elm street. crews moved through smoke, found the couple and cleared the path to a back door to get them out. >> i was in the living room, and then i looked, and i went in, to check, and i saw all the steam, and -- >> the firefighters say a cigarette sparked a fire inside that apartment. randy: 6:35, pope francis has a suggestion to stop the opioid crisis the tool he thinks could make a big difference. also a marathon bombing survivor

randy: we're kicking off the news to go with a welcomed sight for many of us, and good news for skiers and snowboarders. several new hampshire mountains have trails opening today. emily: the attractions are open, cannon mountain set to open with three lifts and eight trails and six trails are open at waterville valley so might not be a bad day to get out there.

compared to what's coming later this weekend for those folks, this is nothing this morning. >> we're ready. >> southern maine, but northern maine, come and ski. >> right. this is the forecast here as we go from today into tomorrow, and especially on sunday. that dark blue color, that's six to 12 inches of snow coming up there into the mountains of maine, northern maine, and the rest of northern new england could get in on the snow. not here in southern new england, it is too mild, we're dealing with the rain, and you can see it's a steadier rain beverly and north redding. outside of this area, there are some patches of drizzle this morning, and the temperatures are around 40 in boston. we're in the mid and upper 40s on the cape but north and west of town, low to mid 30s this morning. so there could be a couple of slippery spots, as we get deeper into the morning, temperatures warm up so that risk for any icing really shifts to the north, and it's not a concern. look at how the temperatures are climbing. a fairly mild afternoon as the

deals online. >> breaking overnight, an arrest in a deadly black friday road rage. police say in reno, nevada, it started as a fight over a parking spot at a wal-mart, a gun was pulled out and a person was shot. that victim dying from their injuries. there was a search for the suspect but that person is now in custody this morning. >> the man accused of assaulting four boston police officers with his car is due in court today. vincent weeks is accused of other two with his car, nothing them to the ground. this happened early on wednesday morning outside of the dublin house bar. the officers were responding to a call of a person with a gun, and while questioning weeks in his car he put the vehicle in gear and hit the gas. while trying to take the keys out of the ignition the officers were dragged 20 feet. the other two officers were hurt when they were hit by the car during the getaway.

live outside of dorchester district court this morning, anted ant, wcvb newscenter 5. emily: the suspect in the fatal shooting of a police officer at michigan's wayne state university will be officially charged today. the 29-year-old officer died a day after he was shot on the detroit campus. investigates say that he was shot in the head while investigating car break-ins. the officer was a five-year veteran of the police >> the massachusetts attorney general maura healey has marked her biggest fundraising month so far this year. the herald is reporting that she raised 82,000 in fundraising so far this month. nearly 50,000 raised in the week after donald trump's victory. and healey has said that she has no interest in running against governor baker, who was a republican in 2018, a democrat, the same year that she is up for re-election as attorney general. and the death toll has gone up overnight, after a car bombing

people were killed. in the attack carried out by isis. the attack happened yesterday at a gas station on a major highway. and dramatic video showing the aftermath of an explosion in a mobile home, a fire leaving four people dead, it happened in central california. the flames were shooting through the roof there. neighbors say the couple was raising their two grandchildren. it is unclear what caused the explosion. >> safe stations in new hampshire, making a difference in the opioid crisis. the manchester in for help. the stations are open all day every day, anyone can come in to get help no, questions asked. the fire department started the program back in may, and it has since spread to other cities. pope francis is calling for social programs to help people around the world fight drug addiction. the pope spoke at a markets' conference in vatican city on thursday, calling addiction a new form of flavor and a wound to our society.
