and the home as relatives make that the story. diane: police are working on a timeline trying to find out how the woman died and how long her children have been in the apartment alone before her body was discovered. officers rushed to the apartment for a possible home invasion this afternoon. after they started investigating, they realized it was not an intruder but rather concerned relatives who forced the door open when they had not heard from the mother ling deceased in the apartment. diane: it is not clear how the woman died. >> we are not sure if it is a natural death or some trauma. it could be a medical condition. diane: the woman part three young children were also in the apartment when the body was discovered. >> it is unfortunate. these children have been taken to the hospital. we are waiting to further examine the body. diane: police said the children

diane cho, wcvb newscenter 5. reid: the world continues to react to the death of former cuban president fidel castro. these images of people filling the streets are from daylong celebrations in miami's little havana. castro was 90 years old. nichole: one of the longest-serving heads of state, the controversial leader ruled the communist island with an iron grip for decades. celebrations in miami hours after the stunning announcement of fidel castro's death at 90. he was born on august 13, 1926 in oreinte province, cuba. as a child he was educated at private catholic schools and later went on to study law at the university of havana. castro became an activist for the poor and promised democracy but went on to rule cuba for more than 40 years with an iron fist. >> i'm not afraid to say i am a convinced communist. i feel honored to be a communist and i hope i will be to the last breath.

the u.s. retaliated by breaking off diplomatic relations with cuba and imposing a trade embargo. in 1961 president john f kennedy approved a cia invasion force of 1300 cuban exiles who went ashore at the bay of pigs. castro was able to fend off the invasion. in 1962 american spy planes discovered he had allowed the soviets to put nuclear missles in cuba. >> i have directed the armed forces to prepare for any eventualities. nichole: moved in and the soviets backed down in exchange for a pledge that america would not attack cuba. the soviet sytle economy castro promoted eventually produced dissent. in 1980, thousands of cubans braved rough seas and dehydration to reach america in the mariel boatlift. in 2006 castro temporarily handed over some of his powers to his younger brother raul as he battled health problems, but he never returned to power.
