construction wrapping up on 93 north by route 24. one other project also in the final stages, 128 by highland ave. over to route 9. as you head north, no problems. 93 looking good out of methuen. overall, not a bad ride. expecting trains and buses to start on schedule. emily: thank you. breaking news this morning, police are investigating a shooting in lynn. this happened just moments ago on the lynn way. police are on the scene in several parts of the lynn way are shut down at this point. scene and we'll bring you more information as we get it. also breaking overnight, a deadly crash under investigation in east boston. randy: there are still a lot of questions about what happened there. boston emergency medical services confirms one person was killed in this single-car crash. it happened just before 11:00 last night. the car landed on its roof. the lanes were closed for several hours but all are back open. we're waiting to learn if there

that crash. also breaking, a charter plane has crashed in colombia with 81 people onboard including members of a brazilian soccer team. police confirmed there are only five survivors. the plane declared -- the pilot declared an emergency due to an electrical failure. of the 81 onboard, 72 were passengers, nine members of the crew. also breaking,an evacuations underway in tennessee as a wildfire torches one area. smoke blanketed the town of gatlinburg as strong winds fanned the flames. this wildfire has damaged dozens of buildings. rain is beginning to fall, but firefighters say that will not make much of a difference. emily: we are learning more about the man behind an attack at ohio state university. there was a troubling warning sign moments before the violence. erika has the red flag.

have been scouring the suspect's home in columbus looking for a motive. for now, a facebook post could be the biggest indicator of the 18-year-old's mind-set. abdul razak ali artan was killed just about a minute after driving into a crowd on campus, then jumping out of the car, slashing people with a butcher knife. 11 people hurt, one critically. a police officer shot artan dead. he was a somali he'd complained to the paper that he couldn't pray openly as a muslim on campus. he posted on facebook calling on america to stop interfering with muslim nation saying, quote, i can't take it anymore. the attack prompted an alert from the university urging students to run, hide or fight. some of them barricading themselves. >> i ran into a bathroom. luckily, it was just a single

emily: 4:45. a live look at the radar this cindy tracking a wet day, heavy downpours expected tonight, but this morning some people are dealing with a threat of some ice. cindy: yeah. it's kind of like pouring water in your freezer. emily: all right. cindy: the surfaces are cold but rain is falling this morning. in a few spots, we may until the temperatures warm up deal with some slippery conditions. that is the concern this morning. but a lot of heavy rain late in the day. this is around 1:00. we're going to get another round as we get into the day tomorrow.

again tomorrow afternoon, and that will impact your evening commutes the next couple of days. to the north there will be some wintry weather. a winter weather advisory through parts of western maine. a good chunk of new hampshire as well. but the concern locally is for you, if you are watching outside of 495 through northern worcester county and up into new hampshire, this is where we could have issues with slippery roads. very light rain coming in, but freezing on contact, leominster, just outside of the worcester area, but keep in mind out this way concerns through the morning hours. this is why. you can see it's only 31 degrees in fitchburg, 29 in orange, 28 in nashua. you head south of the city, there are definitely pockets where it's at or below freezing as well. but that moisture is moving in from the west. you can see it right here. this is a live look at radar this morning where we have rain showing up in this pink color indicating where that rain may

not all of this is reaching the ground. it will be shortly. orange over to amherst to greenfield and this will shift eastward. light amounts initially. the main event with the rain still back across pennsylvania. this is going to be moving in closer to lunchtime. it's associated with this system that is moving up into canada, and it's pulling up a lot of warm air. there's also been some severe weather with this. there continues to be the threat of some severe thunderstorms today down through parts of tennessee. so kind of a wild system. you can see the temperatures just to our south in the 50's already this morning. and it's going to take the entire day before we get there, but by late in the afternoon, we should be up close to 50 degrees. you can see it's a slow climb this morning. nearing the 50-degree mark late in the day. could even be mid 50's just south of the city. so we step you through the timeline here. notice through 9:00 this morning, very light precipitation, but the concerns

we get into the afternoon hours after lunchtime and that's when the rain starts to get heavy. 3:00 this afternoon, right through that evening commute, especially along and south of the pike, there could be some heavier downpours. can't even rule out a rumble of thunder. about midnight this is shifting offshore and we're going to dry things out. the potential is there for about 1/2 inch to an inch of rain. there could be some locally higher amounts where we get over an inch. could lead to poor drainage flooding. tonight we're going to fall back in the 40's with fog starting with the fog tomorrow. both today and tomorrow, impact weather days for threat of rain. tomorrow it comes in later in the day. we're not concerned with icing. as we get into the afternoon hours through the evening commute into thursday morning, rain around. the potential for another inch or so of rain. this is good news. we need it for the drought. 50's through thursday. then we're cooling down, drying out. sunshine is back for the weekend. emily: thank you, cindy. olessa: so far this morning, not

trend this holiday season. emily: your economy this tuesday -- asian stocks are mostly mixed today due to concerns over oil production and a constitutional referendum in italy. u.s. stock futures are higher. investors will be watching for consumer data after a down day yesterday. boston residents could soon be paying more at the grocery store. the city is weighing a new proposal that would charge residents 5 cents per bag at grocery and convenience stores. the new measure covers all bags, cl the goal is to encourage residents to bring a reusable bag.
