randy: 4:30 on friday, december 2. good morning, i'm randy price. antoinette: i'm antoinette antonio in for emily this morning. rob gronkowski getting ready for surgery. randy: boston police are investigating an overnight shooting. the new information from that scene. antoinettea from the family of a missing teenager. randy: good morning, kelly ann. kelly ann in for cindy this morning. kelly ann: and it's looking a lot better this morning, good news compared to yesterday. we saw showers in place. now we're trying doubt. it's all about those winds still as we're seeing winds occasionally gusting up near 20 miles an hour. right now the strongest wind out of worcester at 16 miles per hour really making those temperatures as you're heading out the door right now still quite a bit chillier.

but the wind-chill factor is bringing us down into the 20's. along the coastline, feeling like it's in the 30's. 31 degrees in plymouth. out for worcester and western locations of massachusetts, it's feeling like the mid to upper 20's. right now it's dry and clear overhead for much of our region. any chance of showers well off to the east and west. we'll have westerly winds keep us dry throughout the forecast today. sunshine prevails. those temperatures struggle to really warm the upper 40's as we head into the height of the afternoon. with those winds gusting up to near 2 miles per hour, that means it's going to feel like it's in the 30's. so here's a look at what's going on with our roadways with olessa. olessa: good morning, kelly ann. so far the right not bad. a live look at the pike, a check by alston-brighton, eastbound at the top of the screen. let's go to the maps and check the rest of your ride. traveling across the zakim

this forced him to leave the game and he did not return. this is the play in the first quarter of last sunday's game where gronk was slow to get up after taking a hit. he will undergo surgery to address his lower back injury. that surgery will be in los angeles. tom brady last night reacting. >> i've spoken to him a few times. about him and isryone's thinking physical sport. it's hard to see people you care about go through injuries. he's gone through his fair share.ilso know the result he h. and that will never change with him. he'll be determined as ever to get back and get better as soon as possible. sera: now, this is a surgery that gronk has had twice before, and some experts in boston say that may make what is normally a pretty straightforward surgery a little more complicated.

sera congi, wcvb newscenter 5. antoinette: thank you. we're following breaking news. boston police investigating a shooting in dorchester. one man in serious condition after getting shot on devon street. his condition does not appear to be life-threatening. also breaking there morning, boston police searching for three people who took off after the car they were in struck a wentworth institute of technology please crews -- crewser. the campus officer was taken to the hospital by ambulance. the incident is under investigating. randy: a family waiting for answers after a discovery in the city of lawrence. a decapitated body was found along the merrimack river. the same area where a missing teen was last seen and the eye's nicole estaphan is in lawrence with the disturbing mystery there. nicole: the body of that man

away with cash. the search is on for those suspects. the robbery happening wednesday night at the belvedere wine & spirits store. one of the men armed with a handgun, the other with a sawed-off shotgun. the clerk puts his hands in the air, walks away from the register, his boss saying he did thright thing. >> take the money. i don't want to fight. that's the first thing. i don't want anybody to hurt. antoinette: police believe these are the same men who were spotted earlier in the night by a gas station worker. the clerk at that store was dumping trash outside when he saw the masked pair. he ran into the store, locked the doors, and he called 9-1-1. take a look at the upper right part of your screen inside that red circle. newly released video showing four boston police officers as they are hit by a fleeing car. two of the officers were dragged by that vehicle, all happening

hills deer hunt are over. department of conservation and recreation says the goal is to lessen the negative impacts of the deer overpopulation and the hunt continues next week. antoinette: this morning, a petersham woman says she has proof a mountain lion attacked her horse. the incident took back in june. she says her horse had deep cuts she was sure was a cougar. zukowski has evidence. >> i found a chunk of hair that big. it was stuck together as a clump of hair. it was light brown in color. antoinette: a dna lag at the universi of florida confirms that sample is, in fact, from a mountain lion. state wildlife experts are still

antoinette: yesterday ended up being a gorgeous day despite that wind. we're going downhill from here. kelly ann: we kicked off december. we were seeing a taste of late spring in the upper 50's and 60's. we're getting back to normal in the forecast ahead. this weekend, we're getting down into the 40's and 30's.

heading out the door right now. temperatures down into the 30's for most spots. downtown boston, we're hoegd onto that 40 degrees. i have a feeling we will drop a degree or two towards sunrise. worcester at 35. low to mid 30's in the western locations of massachusetts. with those winds in place, it is feeling quite a bit cooler. wind chills down into the 20's. luckily, we're not tracking much overhead. lee -- as we lookhr much of our. we're seeing a storm system producing snow flurries, lake-effect snow and showers in new york. even though it's trying to push eastward into our area, we have mountains helping to block it. the berkshires could see a flurry or two for today, but east of that we're staying dry.

high temperatures this afternoon will try to reach toward 50 along the coastline. even down toward the cape as well. as we move westward, inland locations in the 40's, 43 in worcester, even colder because of that wind in place. winds are picking up already for this morning. we're seeing occasional gusts up to 15 to 20 miles an hour as you're heading out right now. heading into the aften, the atmosphere. that's why we're looking to see occasional gusts up to near 25 miles an hour in the height of the afternoon. those winds being sustained at 16 miles per hour. so that's going to make those near 50-degree high temperatures feel quite a bit cooler as we take a look at our wind chill forecast. we move into this morning, so right around sunrise, notice where we see the coldest of temperatures with wind chills degrees in boston.ester, 32

the coastline. of course, it cools down again tonight. as we head into tomorrow night, wind-chill factors dropping into the lower 20's. so your seven-day forecast is looking relatively quiet initially, but we are going to see a shift in the pattern. we do have cooler air moving its way into next week. your patriots forecast on sunday, mostly sunny. highs in the upper 30's. our next shot of a cool blast moves in on monday. and with that we could see a few morning flurries for that the good new is nothing like that for today. antoinette: i'm going to pretend you didn't say flurries. so far this morning the ride is quiet. live look at the expressway, there's a check by the south bay mall. there is a little bit of overnight construction left over for just a little bit longer. let's get to the maps and i'll show you where. 93, construction clearing northbound by the zakim bridge. south of town we're fine. no issues along the pike, 128 road work clearing as well by

route 3a to 2a. trains and buses starting on schedule. randy: a dangerous drive on a busy rhode island highway posted by this driver on facebook. this man is reaching speeds more than 100 miles per hour. and the drive only stopped after a terrifying crash. onasi olio-rojas spread along route 6 in providence going toward interstate 95 on wednesday. rhode island state police say lanes and using the breakdown line to pass. the drive ended in a crash. he's in critical condition in the hospital and facing charges. >> the videotape just shows a blatant disrega that the operator has for anybody else that's on the roadway. i mean, we're very fortunate that he didn't hit anybody se. randy: the police used traffic cameras to verify what had been

antoinette: legislation requiring safety standards for duck boats in boston has reached governor charlie baker's desk. 28-year-old allison warmuth died in an accident. blind spot cameras and proximity sensors are required. the governor has 10 days to take action on this legislation. boston duck boats has already been making changes to comply. your economy t overnight as investors awaited u.s. jobs data, stock futures. investors are watching for the release of the november employment report today. johnson & johnson is paying up over defective hip implants. a federal jury ordered the company and its orthopedics unit to pay more than $1 billion to six plaintiffs. those plaintiffs said they were injured by the metal-on-metal pinnacle hip implants.

we have your early news to go. antoinette: patriots tight end rob gronkowski having surgery today on his lower back. gronk injured during the first quarter of last sunday's game against the jets. he's undergone this procedure twice before. specialists in the field say gronk is a model patient because of his age and because he's in great shape. he has the surgery today in los angeles. randy: no bail for brockton teenager charged with killing his mother. prosecutors say to death. it happened in their merritt avenue home on wednesday. wednesday afternoon. the 18-year-old suspect had recently been released from a hospital where he'd been treated for depression. antoinette: the death toll from a wildfire in tennessee climbs to 11. investigators believe the fire that leveled the town of gatlinburg early this week was caused by people. more than 700 homes and businesses are now destroyed in the town which is known as the

randy: trial date set in connection with the death of a little girl known as baby doe. rachelle bond is accused of disposing of bela bond's body after her boyfriend killed the little girl. bond's boyfriend, michael mccarthy, will be tried through the doors of walmart in pella an hour from des moines. the driver of the truck is injured. randy: two hidden hostages gave a swat team in florida the distraction they needed to storm into a credit union. police say a 23-year-old man held 11 people hostage for two hours. this was during a robbery in jacksonville. at one point he put a gun to someone's head. when two people hiding tried to make a run for it, the swat team

couple of more layers. right now we're holding strong in boston at 40 degrees. don't be surprised as we move to the next hour, we'll likely drop into the 30's. worcester at 34 degrees. orange at a very chilly 32. this is thing. those winds are just gusty enough that we are feeling a bit of a wind chill out there. and so as you're heading out, that wind-chill factor is down into the lower0' for worcester and the 30's as we move along the coastline right now. it is nice and clear overhead with our radar at this point, but as we move through the we do start to see, although it is clear for eastern locations, some clouds moving into our west. so that's something we'll be tracking through much of new york and barely moving into the berkshires and eventually by later today, those temperatures start to cool. some of those clouds could spit out a flurry or two into the berkshires. that's something we'll be watching le tonight. all of us east of the berkshires staying dry. overall, relatively nice ending to our work week. high temperatures managed to
