fact. lovell's youth pastor says she was a teen leader at auburn baptist church in riner. nicole's family says they want to remember her the way she was. (sot: ruth ann leonard/nicole's great aunt) (va tech murder intv "i don't want them to remember her from all the headlines and all the bad negative things. i would like for them to just see her as we did as such a beautiful, sweet, loving child." lovell went missing wednesday in blacksburg. her body was found in surry county, north carolina. charges being filed is little solace to nicole's friends and classmates at blacksburg middle school. the school system says they spent time talking with students in small groups yesterday to inform and answer questions about what happened this weekend. there is also help for teachers, staff, and parents. but most importantly, there's places for students to go when they need to talk about the tragedy. brenda drake, public information officer, montgomery county schools: "we've got safe spaces in every wing of the building so if a student needs to step out to talk or

they're just having a little trouble handling the day they have a place where there's a trusted, trained adult that they can go and spend some time and get back to class they're able." the school says it will offer these services as long as anyone needs them. a franklin county woman accused of killing a 3-year-old boy she was caring for has been indicted by a grand jury. hope mcvey perdue is charged with second-degree murder and felony child abuse. callen mullins died last may investigators previously said that mullins died from blunt force trauma. her husband told deputies that the boy appeared to have been severely beaten when he found him. perdue is due back in court april 26th. two people were sent to the hospotal after a shooting in danville. police responded to mount vernon avenue just after seven last night and found randolph neal shot. he told officers two men approached him and demanded money before one of them shot him several times. a short time later, another person went outside when they heard a loud noise. police say one of the men shot him on virginia avenue.

released. authorities have identified the two people involved in a deadly train crash in roanoke county. investigators say a work truck was sitting on the crossing at spring hollow access road when it was hit by a norfolk southern train just before noon yesterday. the truck then burst into flames. william lineberry was in the truck at the time, and died at the scene. johnny collins went to the hospital with serious injuries. no one on the train was hurt. (fred heblick/defense attorney):"the reasons that were given by the court to make the transfer we felt hadn't exactly, haven't lived up to its billing. the advantages that had been suggested in moving the case to roanoke hadn't really materalized." that request was denied. opening arguments may begin this afternoon. a man has been found guilty of murdering his estranged relative in campbell county. a judge convicted vincent earl spinner yesterday afternoon on counts of first degree murder and robbery. prosecutors say he stabbed his father- in-law, james payne, 25 times. the crime happened at payne's home in evington back in august of 20-12. the commonwealth's attorney said spinner needed money to fund a cocaine habit. when payne refused to help, prosecutors say spinner killed him and took his wallet. payne's son offered a brief statement

keith payne/son: "it's a sad time for both of our families, what has happened here, but this does give us some sort of closure." spinner faces up to life in prison when he's formally sentenced at a later date. a danville neighborhood's on edge after a suspcious man was reported to police. this video from a person living on north woodberry avenue said sunday night, the man rang his doorbell, then tried turning the doorknob as if trying to get inside. after the homeowner confronted the man, he took off to another house before running off. we've blurred out his face because he has not been charged with a crime. the homeowner said others saw a suspicious person outside their homes. police are looking for the man and are stepping up patrols in the neighborhood. some folks in wythe county might experience some temporary disruptions with their water service today. it will effect people who live along old bank road in the speedwell community through thursday. the water disruption is because of ongoing road work the virginia department of transportation is doing to improve state route 619,
