her short life." blacksburg police chief anthony wilson said local and federal law enforcement agencies are investigating about 400 tips from the case. in an interview with the washington post, nicole's mother said police told her the 13 year old and her accused killer, david eisenhauer recently met online. eisenhauer has family in the galax and grayson county area - close to where nicole's body was found in north carolina. her father told cbs news, he urges parents to be vigilant about their children's use of social media. david lovell/nicole's father: "look, if you don't think you did enough, do some more. keep checking. watch your kids because this is.(sighs)" nicole's visitation is set for today from five until eight at mccoy funeral home in blacksburg. her funeral is tomorrow at three also at mccoy funeral home. as lovell's family

coming back in by the middle part of next week highs only franklin county elementary school teacher now faces d-u-i and involuntary manslaughter charges. a franklin county grand jury has indicted lesley wildasin of north carolina for her part in dona minnick's death. minnick was from roanoke and was a long time teacher at rocky mount elementary. the head-on crash happened in november on route 2-20 just south of boones mill. in search warrants, investigators said they found an empty box of wine in wildasin's front seat. we are getting a look at a credit card skimmer that was attached to an atm in vinton. this is what investigators found at first citizens bank on saturday. on the plastic where the card goes you can see the electronics stuffed away inside. and then you can see the tiny camera that recorded the key-pad. as you can see, the parts match exactly to the real parts on an a-t-m. they go right on top making it very hard to tell what's real and what's not. the thief will plant these devices, and

them later. right now vinton police are looking for this woman they believe put the devices on the a-t- m. if you recognize her, please call police. a federal judge in danville will determine whether three south boston police officers should be released from a lawsuit over the death of a man in their custody. linwood lambert died in police custody in may of 20-13. family and friends of lambert showed their support with a strong turnout in danville federal court yesterday morning. lambert's sister tells wdbj7 it is disappointing that oficials are considering removing the officers from the case, after watching the video. gwendolyn smalls/lambert's sister: "i think that's an argument on their part. that they have to argue the case. that's what i believe. in my opinion i don't believe that they know that it was not necessary for that amount of tazering." lawyers representing the officers argued every tazer applied to lambert was necessary to get him back under control. lambert's family is suing for 25-million dollars. the federal judge is reviewing the arguments and will soon decide whether the officers will remain as defendants in the

the montgomery county school board has voted unanimously to repeal a vote made last year that would change school start times. wdbj7's noell saunders explains why parents didn't like the idea. a packed room with a lot of voices to be heard dozens of montgomery county parents go before the school board to ask them to keep school start times as they are. a virginia father, a day after police found his wife who disappeared with his young child. cornelius simmons says it's been two months since he last saw his two year old daughter in richmond. police arrested the wife on monday in new york on abduction charges, but the toddler was nowhere to be found. last month, richmond police found human remains in a vacant apartment. while police have yet to idenitfy the body, simmons says it's his daughter. cornelius simmons/ father: "the only thing that really loved me was my daughter. i loved her." police have not said if the abduction charges are related to the girl's disappearance. an investigator with the nelson county sheriff's office will go to trial on may 31st over charges of election fraud. billy mays unsuccessfully ran for sheriff last year. in november, he was was formally charged with a felony and misdemeanor after being accused of lying to election officials about living in nelson county. right now, mays is on paid administrative leave from the sheriff's office. averett university leaders are speaking out about new

shooting in danville. dean of students lesley villa-rose says the university works very closely with the danville police. once information of monday's shooting was available, a text alert was sent out to students along with a follow-up email and an increased police presence on campus. villa-rose says they have a new program called "see it say it" - aimed at creating a "culture of care." lesley villarose/dean of students averett university: "and they can do that by a phone call, by emailing by telling some one person. and making sure they are really ya know being a good by stander and member of the community and students have really become engaged with that." the man who was shot is in stable conidtion at a north carolina hosptial. danville police have announced a 10- thousand dollar reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction. lynchburg leaders are using their arts and cultural community to help the city's economy grow. plus, the blue ridge autism and achievement center has two new programs avaiable to

see the 58th annual circus over the four days it was in town at the berglund center. that beat last year's record -setting attendance number by over 1-thousand. money raised from the circus benefits the kazim shriners and their mission to help others. a final tally will come out in a few months. lynchburg is part of a national project to study the economic impact of cultural arts. a group called "americans for the arts" is working with lynchburg's office of economic development to measure the impact arts organizations are having on things like jobs and tax revenue. research will be conducted at various arts and cultural events throughout the year. people will be asked to fill out surveys, which will help track how money is being spent. anna bentson/assistant economic development director: "we know that the arts is an economic sector and it's a growing one, so when we saw the opportunity to use a national organization to get local data, we leaped at the opportunity." lynchburg is one of nearly 300 communities across the country that was chosen to participate in the project. leaders of the saint vincent home in roanoke just started

with a preview. kimberly, blair thomas and company puppet theater has been in blcksburg for two weeks preparing for the friday night premiere. we got a glimpse of the production during a rehearsal tuesday afternoon. blair thomas: i was first interested in moby dick 20, 25 years ago, and i made a very festive, fun production of it with puppets on the beach at lake michigan in chicago where i work. and that was quite a while ago and i wanted to return to it to work on it again. i was interested in the story as an adventure story of this man who feels he has the self- righteous idea to go and defeat this one single whale, that he will rid the world of evil in this act. joe dashiell: if you were to explain the puppetry the tradition that your drawing from here how would you describe it for our viewers? blair thomas: well one of the principal types of puppetry

and we have many different uses of white paper that make both shadow screens, but you can also see behind me this very large spherical shape that's kind of like a big beached whale. and so we project shadow puppetry and we also project video and and animated puppetry film as well. and then there are some other puppet objects that we use that are more like masks to perform with. joe dashiell: i understand you've also been visiting with students here at virginia tech and also community school tell me about that experience. blair thomas: i took some of my puppets to a classroom and did some workshops with children and students that are at the schools. and also just in the academic setting to talk about the ideas of the book and our adaptation of it with students who are interested in the religion and culture. and so it's been a really rich opportunity
