there will be an increased police presence at northside high school in roanoke county today. a school spokesperson says posts threatening violence were circulating on social media starting on wednesday. roanoke county police say there is no validity to the threat. there were additional officers on campus yesterday as well. classes were not

verify the threats. a possible threat from isis ramped up security at the hargrave military academy in chatham on tuesday. hargrave is a military boarding school primarily for seventh through 12th graders. the school's president says they immediately got in touch with local law enforcement after receiving the message. now, that investigation includes other state and federal agencies. yesterday, the school held assemblies with cadets and employees. they also sent a message to parents. there was an open house planned for this weekend -- but it's been cancelled. all cadets will be allowed to go home through the weekend if they'd like. the president says they've never faced a situtation like this before. half days will become full days for the henry county public school system. is changing its calendar to help make up for the recent snow days school officials say they're trying their best to change the school calendar but keep spring break. two planned half days in march have now become full days. students will also come to school for an extra half day in may. with the possibility

to visit cuba in 88 years, when he heads to havana in march. the trip has long been expected since he normalized relations with cuba in 20-14. just tuesday the countries signed an agreement clearing the way for daily u-s commercial flights to cuba. ted cruz and marco rubio, the two republican, cuban- americans running to succeed him quickly offered up criticism. sen. marco rubio/r-presidential candidate: "is that something, as president, you'd ever do? not if it's not a free cuba and i'll tell you the problem with the cuban government; it's not just a communist dictatorship, it is an anti-american communist dictatorship." sen. ted cruz/r- presidential candidate: "i think it's a real mistake i think the president should instead be pushing for a free cuba." a u-s economic embargo in cuba is still in effect. while president obama's trip will be a first for a sitting president in decades-- former president jimmy carter has visited cuba several times since leaving office. a rand corporation study shows the military is struggling to provide adequate care for troops suffering from post traumatic stress disorder and

the group found many are not getting the minimum number of therapy sessions. some blame it on a lack of mental health professionals, and say the military will turn to civilian therapists who are available through pentagon contracts. leaders plan to examine the study and find ways to improve. a bill to reduce the emphasis on standardized testing in high schools is moving through the general assembly. the measure requires virginia's board of education to stress critical thinking over standardized testing. the legislation sailed through the senate unanimously, and on wednesday, it was approved by a house committee 19- to- 3. the bill also instructs education officials to emphasize internships and technical training. a pilot and a family of four were on board a tour helicopter when it crashed off the arizona memorial visitors center in hawaii. witnesses said they saw smoke coming from the helicopter's tail shortly before it went down. good samaritans who saw the crash jumped into the water and helped pull people to shore. a knife was needed to free one of the passengers from a seatbelt in the

storm for the mountains, it's a great time to get out and enjoy the slopes. so let's take a freeride with leo. lets get started with massunutten. the resort recieved 5 to 6 inches of new snow earlier in the week. they have made fresh snow for the weekend and want to make sure these spring like temps don't fool you because there's plenty of winter left. on to the homestead. the resort will have 9 trails open with an average base of 38 to 50 inches for skiing and snowboarding this weekend. the penguin slides tubing park will have 5 lanes open. there will be night skiing saturday from 6:00- 9:00 pm. wintergreen says it will have warmer
