homeless today at a store in christiansburg. wdbj7's noell saunders tells us how the group put smiles on faces. nadia, smiles is exactly right. a clothing vendor called leslie's closet partnered with a local church to help those in need. it was quite a sight today. volunteers warmed hearts and stomachs as several came to pick through tons of clothing. "i see a lot of people that just don't have food. they don't have food to feed their kids. they don't have clothes especially right around school time. i go out and collect. i go different places and set up. whoever wants to come they can get what they want for free" shirts, pants and all kinds of shoes for all ages. cathy east, a first time volunteer, says she knows what it's like to struggle. "my heart is for the homeless because i've been there" east lived on the street for an entire year. "i feel for these people. i know what they are going through. sleeping in the cold, don't know where you are going to eat, and the innocent little kids, they have to sleep where they have to sleep" a group from a local church cooked all of the food. visitors stacked their plates and were even given a to-go bag. "we are here not to judge them, not to look at them like they are less than but to let them kow that they are people. god loves them. we love them and we would do anything that we can to make sure we try to make it a little easier on

today because it really means a lot to me. i could see where they are coming from" leslie's closet is always looking for donations and does a clothing drive regualrly. the church group plans to start serving meals monthly. more information can be found on our website wdbj7.com noell saunders wdbj7. a missing richmond mom and daughter have been found safe. police say c'ere (see-air) lewis and sesha hill were found in pennsylvania. they had been missing since thursday night. it's not clear yet why the two were there. new at six: the woman at the center of a debunked article about a gang rape at u-v-a will have to answer questions as part of a civil lawsuit. the woman, known only as "jackie" has been ordered to submit a deposition on april 5-th. u-v-a administrator nicole eramo is suing rolling stone and the article's author for defamation. she claims she was cast as "chief villain" in the piece, which

together...to say goodbye. weijia jiang, cbs news, washington. two states are up for grabs tonight as democratic and republican presidential candidates square off in the polls. the six remaining g-o-p hopefuls have been courting south carolina voters all week for the primary there. senator ted cruz has been polling in second place and is hoping to knock frontrunner donald trump from the top spot. trump is confident that he will hold on to his lead. donald trump/republican presidential candidate: "they always say the field will shrink and they add up 100 percent of everybody. i'm going to get a lot of those votes." for the democrats, it was all eyes on nevada. hillary clinton and senator bernie sanders started out in a virtual tie ahead of the caucus there. now c-n-n is projecting clinton is the winner. protesters are getting ready to assemble in more than 30 cities next week. this as a reaction to the fbi trying to force apple to make it easier to unlock encrypted iphones. the protests are organized by the internet rights group, fight for the future. they're scheduled to

outside apple stores across the nation. the protests come a week after the fbi apple to weaken the security built into most iphones to help a terrorism investigation in san bernardino, california. the general assembly has approved more coal- related tax credits the measure was voted in by a wide margin yesterday. the vote puts governor mcauliffe in a tight spot: he's vetoed similar measures in the past. but with this week's majority vote, he likely won't be able to stop the credit extensions. tax day is coming up and some people in our region, need a little help with filing. wdbj7's christian heilman has more on an organization working to help them. nadia, there is a group of volunteers that help folks with filing every year. they were in botetourt county today holding a tax fair. they'd like to open up an extra site there, but need some help first. the term "tax fair" makes it sound fun -- but the name doesn't trick yvette gibbs.

"oh i hate it. i really do." she's in the vocal majority who hate the world of w2s, 1099s, and 1040s. yvette gibbs, attended tax fair "but, if it has to be done it has to be done. " carol sheahan, district coordinator tax-wise "we work for the smiles and the handshakes and the thank yous that we get from our clients." yvette came to fincastle saturday to get help filing from someone like carol sheahan. carol sheahan, district coordinator tax-wise "the tax code is so difficult -- so hard for so many people to understand. " she was one of the volunteers who came to help about 20 people file. they're usually in roanoke, but call a church in botetourt county home for two days during tax season. carol sheahan, district coordinator tax-wise is out there because we fill up quickly and have to it's a problem they'd like to fix -- with more volunteers. they're already just about booked for their second tax fair in march. carol sheahan, district coordinator tax-wise "they call and we say i'm sorry we don't have any more appointments." carol says you don't have to be a cpa -- just a willing learner with basic computer skills. there are 30 hours worth of classes to get certified. if they get enough

hope to one day expand to a permanent place in botetourt county. it won't make taxes fun for people like yvette -- but it'll make it a little easier. yvette gibbs, attended tax fair "oh it's very very important. i don't think i'd know what to do without it. all ages how to do it! the crimper's climbing gym in christiansburg. the gym hosted their 3rd annual rock climbing competition.

organizations, colleges and youth clubs were tested on different levels of challenges. at the end of the competition, first second and third place winners recieved trophies and other items. the gym's owner john johnson says it's all about collaboration. "what we are really trying to do is build the community. just get a bunch of different people together, just have a chance to try a bunch of new climbs and really challenge themselves and cheer each other on" if you've never climbed and want to learn, crimpers has classes every week. the roanoke disc golf club kicked off its inaugural ice bowl today! participants met at botetourt county greenfiled park this morning. the disc golf tournament is played like golf, but with frisbees instead of balls. organizers say the ice bowl is a great way to raise awareness and have some fun outside the office. dustin olin/tournament director:"our goal for this was to raise some funds and some food and to bring some folks from the rescue mission out and hopefully get them involved in the disc golf community and provide an outlet for them to do in the park when they're not at the mission."

raise one hundred pounds of canned food and 1-thousand dollars to benefit the roanoke rescue mission. leaders say they aim to grow the tournament and increase the amount each year. today train enthusiasts gathered at the virginia museum of transportation for train lovers day. those who took part got the chance to learn more about the y-6-a steam locomotive from st. louis. the event also featured model train displays, diesel train rides and a yard sale. organizers say this event has brought train lovers from around the world. fran ferguson/ director of development:"we are so pleased and grateful to have what is left of the best of norfolk and western's theme housed here at the virginia museum of transportation. we have guests who come from all over the world we've already got guests who've signed up for 611 excurions from australia and new zealand. the world knows what special locomotives and engines these were." ferguson says they are planning more events in the future including some excursions in the spring. the spring-like temperatures
