in wednesday's tornado ripped through the area. repair work is well underway at evergreen united methodist church. the storm severely damaged the roof and smashed windows. while church members fixed the physical damage, they're also dealing with the death of one of their members. keith harris died in the storm. he's described as a quiet man who was always at church early. gus paulette "this is part of life that we don't understand sometimes. why things happen like this. " ricky harris, keith's nephew "you never know when the last time you're going to see one of your loved ones here on this earth. " tomorrow's service will be held in the basement. members don't have a timetable for repairs to be complete, but want to fix it quickly so they can begin helping others in the community. a nonprofit organization is making sure no one

appomattox. after wednesday's tornado mercy chefs has been making homemade hot meals from a mobile kitchen for two days. volunteers arrived at the evergreen baptist church at 3 a.m. to start meal prepping. the group served breakfast, lunch and dinner throughout the day. head chef and founder, gary leblanc says public service is his passion. gary leblanc mercy chefs founder "it's an incredible thing to go out in the field and share a meal with folks. something amazing happens over a shared meal" mercy chefs will be on site tommorrow and possibly for the rest of next week. continuing coverage tonight on an officer- involved shooting in roanoke county. police say the suspect in an incident last night near route 419 is officers responded to a call that a man was waving a gun in the parking lot of a brambleton avenue. shot, and he died at the hospital. the officers involved are on administrative leave as police continue to investigate.

in kansas that killed 3 and injured 14 others. tonight we're hearing from a victim who returned to the company for the first time since the attack happened. he was shot in the foot, and three of his coworkers were killed; including a friend who died trying to save others. zach naylor/shooting victim: "i'm upset we lost close people we work with every day - hard to deal with." police have identified the shooter as cedric ford. authorities say he was angry about being served a protective order from an ex-girlfriend. he allegedly stole a car and shot at people randomly as he drove to the plant he worked at. he was later shot and killed by police. an ex-girlfriend of ford's has been charged with giving him the weapons he used. family and friends are saying goodbye to the victims killed during a shooting rampage in michigan. today a joint memorial service was held for a father and son who were killed last saturday. there was also a service for a woman shot in a cracker barrel parking lot last saturday.
