the city also bracing for the snow...preparing salt and plow trucks to hit the roads. roads.the department of public works gave an update not long ago...on its plans. cbs 58's amanda devoe joins us live with that part of the story...amanda. the city wants you to know that crews will be out in full force to make sure the roads are safe to drive. the milwaukee department of

operations started on wednesday. crews are brining the streets with salt and water to keep the snow from sticking to the pavement. 102 salt trucks will be in the streets starting tomorrow. dpw says 350 workers will be out over the course of the storm, and they're prepared to work 12 hour shifts. dpw also says they are monitoring the storm, and will do whatever it takes to keep the roads safe. 3 "please be patient. it sounds like it's going to be a big storm. if you don't have to travel during the height of the snowfall, please don't. our main goal in mindis streets, so that you can get home and get to your destinatio" destinations." this weekend's snow operation is expected to cost around one and a half million dollars. dpw also says to make sure follow the rules for street parking so you don't get ticketed or towed. live in downtown mke, ad cbs 58 news. 3 news. mke, ad cbs 58 news.

over my shoulder here that it's already looking like a winter wonderland here in slinger. take a look,. they've been making this snow since tuesday, so the hill here is already looking covered.now that the season is in full swing, they'll keep pumping the snow out.the technology they use to make this stuff is advanced. there are 23 snow guns all over the hill blowing it out.managers here can operate the amount of water and pressure from their cell phones. one of the managers tells me he thinks man-made snow gets a bad rap. that the snow we make, which is real snow, uh is icey or tough to ski on, not as nice as powder you have out west. it's great snow, it's power-tilled, the guns that we have....make excellent, light snow. little switz is now open for the season. they have skiing, snowboarding and a restaurant and bar here so there are options for the whole family. live in slinger im jp cbs 58

investigators now believe speed and alcohol may have been factors in a crash last night in okachee. okachee.just after seven o'clock a car left the road and slammed into a home...damaging the garage. a man inside that garage was hurt and had to be taken by flight for life to the hospital. the driver of the car was also taken to the hospital. and coming up later...hear from the woman who owns the home...in a live report ahead. the sheboygan county sheriff's office says a distracted driver caused a crash overnight involving a around two in the morning. the driver told deputies his cruise control was on when he became distracted by a dog in the car. he rear-ended a sheriff deputy's cruiser....forcing it into the other lane of traffic and then into a guardrail. the deputy was trapped for several minutes upside down in the car. the man who caused the crash helped her get free. the deputy and other driver are expected to be ok. 3 coming up...here's something that will warm us

pennsylvania part of interstate-90 looked more like an abandoned junkyard."1 vehicle through the median head on into a semi."heavy snowfall triggered a crash involving at least 13 vehicles. 15 people were reportedly hurt. further down i-90 near the pennsylvania border, a 75 car pile up shut down the interstate.it remained closed for hours in both directions. the tires had fallen off of a trailor"this man was stranded for nearly an hour."pretty aggravated right now. trying michigan a semi-tractor jackknifed across i-96 shutting down most of the highway. a massive 40 car pileup killed three people and injured 11 more. as the ground is getting to that temperature it's starting to ice over. /// compounded with the quick snow squall or white out i think were all contributing factors. 3 the problem now is .. skidding.. for the roads like this one just starting to ice

it's free for i-phone and android phones. 3 a disturbing update to the story we broke last night..about the man life flighted to the hospital after a car came crashing through his garage in okauchee. okauchee.friends tell us --- the man is now fighting for his life. cbs 58's april dovorany spoke to the woman who owns the house... house...she joins us now live from okauchee...with exclusive new details...april. the homeowner tells me- a woman drove a car right highway 16-into an embankment, flying over that median-likely going highway speeds as she crashed into this garage we were at the chaotic scene last night- homeowner lisa marks tells me her tenant larry hansen was inside the garage working on his bmw, when it all happened. inspectors told marks the driver never stopped..crashing into hansen and pushing him thru this cinder block wall. marks says hansen and his wife are long time tenants, and even today as we stood

today... the commission says almost 90 percent of wisconsin's presidential ballots have been recounted. going into the recount people wondered if it would flip the state for hillary clinton... county clerks told us it would not... and so far we're seeing clinton has cut into donald trump's wisconsin lead by just 49 votes. votes.something interesting we're seeing... more than 13-hundred votes have been added statewide.sheboygan county added more than 100 votes during this recount... i and he says the votes missed on election night were human error... saying vote counting machines were not at fault. we're still waiting for milwaukee county to send its final numbers... counting wrapped up there yesterday. live in waukesha... david ade.. .cbs 58 news.

cashing fake checks to support her drug habit cbs 58's kyle aevermann reports from waukesha county. the couple targeted this enterprise credit union, where one of the suspects worked. worked.the criminal complaint says between january of 2015 and march of this year, anna chaberek and her fiancee anthony tourtillott cashed 328 fraudlent checks into 6 different bank accounts.the complaint says an investigation into the two began after an audit of the enterprise credit union showed a discrepancy of over $300,000.tourtillott told detectives that the two had an agreement, that chaberek would provide the checks, and tourtillott would conduct the transition and then use that money to prchase percocet pills and split between the two.the criminal complaint says chaberek also used her father and sister's accounts to depoist and withdraw counterfeit checks of $980.

the stores list higher original prices on items...that were never actually on sale. so that customers believe they're getting a better deal than they actually are. get ready for more chatter on a. airplanes.the government is proposing that airlines let passengers make phone calls during flights using wi-fi. flight attendants among those concerned about this being disruptive. airlines would have to warn travelers they allow calls before they buy their ticket. more than 42 million people are expected to fly over the ho safest way to travel. but some aboard a flight that made an emergecny landing at chicago's o'hare airport are questioning airline safety procedures. cbs' peter greenberg reports.
