ted: if you are getting ready to head out, give yourself a few extra minutes to warm up in the car. you are looking at downtown orlando. if you have to travel that eastbound drive from john young to colonial, leaving right now will give you a five to six minute drive. this is the goldenrod area. no delays just yet on your way to the airport toll plaza. the statement 46 in seminole, a nice and quiet 16 to me for that westbound drive. jazmin: i and jazmin walker at the breaking news center. troopers are on the scene of a truck that slammed into a house. it happened just after 4:00 a.m. take a look. we just got this video into our newsroom. you can see the truck slammed through the wall of that home. it leaves splintered wood and shattered glass from windows everywhere.

>> i am in shock. i do not know if he is. there was this car, and another car down there, he hit my truck. he then hit my house in trailer. jazmin: we will continue to ask how this crash happened, and whether the driver will face any charges. jason the michelle, back to you. jason: help is on the way for a group of homeless people that caused a shutdown at a daytona beach property appraiser' s office after an alleged attack. michelle: the office close on friday. out to derail is life this morning. alex, what is next for these people? alex: the salvation army will be busing many of these people to a temporary shelters that they are

this comes after the issue has become more tense, because the volusia county property appraiser, morgan gilreath jr., says, a homeless person attacked one of his employees, when she was trying to get into the building. that' s why he shut down the office. and the county manager followed, by temporarily shutting down the entire building. the property appraiser says that his employees should not be afraid to come to work. a homeless man our crew talked to says, there are always bad apples in the crowd, but there are good people too. an advocate for the homeless tells us, the reason why you see so many homeless people outside the government building is, because the city closed popular living spots for the homeless, like manatee island. >> they painted us into a corner. it is like squeezing a balloon. if you squeeze one side, it is going to come out the other. a sickly, this is like our last stand. alex: the salvation army' s plan is to offer a 90 day shelter in

the homeless. it says the city asked for help with the problem a couple weeks ago. the shelter will open every day at 5:00 p.m., offering free dinner, breakfast, and a place to sleep. other people have been placed in apartments or motels, including those with wheelchairs. this jim would not be able to accommodate those with special needs. the salvation army says, this is not just emergency shelter. they plan to get people into programs for transitional and permanent housing. efforts continue for a proposed permanent shelter dubbed "volusia safe harbor." we will be watching today as the budget -- as the buses from the salvation army come to pick up some of these people here. that will happen later this back to you guys. michelle: alex, thank you so much. this morning, the mother of an escaped inmate' s begging for her son to come back and turn himself in. gary bullock jr. has been on the

he was on work release at the el caribe resort in daytona beach. investigators say, he cut off his ankle monitor, and was picked up from the hotel by his girlfriend, natasha quigley. they' re believed to be with quigley' s three-year-old son. bullock' s mother says, her son was just nine months from freedom. >> they were a happy little family. i don' t know why they would make this decision, when it was so close to being a reality. michelle: quigley' s father is also pleading for his daughter to turn herself in. they' re believed to be in a white 2010 chevrolet cobalt. jason: sunrise. multiple people are recovering after surveyor -- severe turbulence for a flight on the way to italy. seven people were taken to the hospital. american airlines is making emergency arrangements to get the remaining passengers to their destination.

teachers will be out scheduling -- taking part in a week long protest. jazmin walker is here with more. jazmin: these teachers say that working conditions have gotten worse the school year. some of their top priorities are cleaner classrooms, less testing, more resources, and more support in our schools. they say, the school board has been too focused on uniforms, football stadiums, and gutting employee health care. you may remember, last spring, teachers staged several protests during contract negotiations. in december, teachers voted to only work to their contract, which means no tutoring or helping with extra-curricular activities. morale seems to be low amongst teachers in volusia. in a survey released by the union friday, 39% of current teachers say they want to leave volusia county schools. the walk-ins will take place 10 minutes before the start of the school day, every morning this week. parents are encouraged to participate alongside teachers and support staff. today, they'

in a show of unity. jason. jason: jazmin, thank you. this morning, we are talking about freezing temperatures, causing problems for crews trying to clear up that record-breaking snowfall. michelle: the storm fell more than two feet in some areas outside of new york. in washington dc, nbc' s edward lawrence explains that some cities are still at a standstill. edward: the story now turns to storm cleanup. >> the roads are ok. the main roads are great, they are open. there are a lot of spots they have not touched yet though. edward: almost 30 deaths have been blamed on the storm. some because of accidents, others related to heart attacks trying to clean up from the snow. >> getting back to business as usual will take considerable amount of time.

the group today to take them to a shelter. jason: the suspect in a deadly bar shooting in sanford, will face a judge this afternoon. late last night, seminole county deputies arrested james pritchard. they say he shot and killed oceanette hampton at the cool breeze bar on saturday night. michelle: the parents of an escaped prison inmate and his girlfriend are pleading with them to turn themselves in. gary bullock, junior has been on the run since friday. volusia county deputies believe he' s with natasha quigley and her three-year-old son. overnight, the empire state building celebrated the matchup for super bowl 50. it was lit up in the colors of the panthers and broncos. the teams meet in two weeks in california. jason: it is going to be a good matchup. jazmin walker is here with how they stack up for the super bowl. jazmin: jason and michelle, these -- this will be the second super bowl trip in the carolina panther' s 21-season history. meanwhile, the broncos are making their eighth super bowl appearance. the panthers had to beat the arizona cardinals to earn their

deadly listeria outbreak. dole is now issuing a recall for packaged salad in 23 states including florida. the cdc says 12 people in six states were hospitalized, one of them died. health officials say a facility in ohio is likely where the contamination started. salads with the product code beginning with an a are affected. they' re sold under various names, dole, simple truth, marketside, the little salad bar, and president' s choice. jason: this morning, flint, michigan, is getting some help with its water crisis through tonight show host jimmy fallon. he' s rallying support on. twitter using the hashtag, water for flint. fallon tweeted yesterday announcing he' s donating $10,000 dollars to water improvement efforts. he is also calling for others to join him in donating. in his tweet he asked how about 10 friends match me. that will get some attention. michelle: this morning, you' ll be paying less for gas than you have in seven years, that' s according to a new survey,

utility workers repair a gas leak caused by the earthquake. four homes were heavily damaged in explosions triggered by the gas. there were no reports of serious injuries. new on sunrise, a pet store owner on florida' s west coast is hoping surveillance video will help catch a thief with expensive taste. jason: over the weekend, a man was seen walking through a pet store in largo, north of st. petersburg, with a bird valued at more than $2,000 dollars. detectives are not naming him a suspect. however, the owner of the store believes this guy knows something. >> very suspicious, he was wearing two pairs of glasses, had a hat on, we' ve been told by one of our customers that he' s seen the judgment at mcdonald' s. i believe he is local. jason: because of the value of this bird, the person who swiped it could face a felony grand theft charges. michelle: florida hunters are

>> we mainly have been going outside and playing in the snow. everything shut down. the city shut down. we are a bunch of florida guys and girls enjoying the snow. jason: many flights have already been canceled today. nikole killion is there with more on how the blizzard is impacting the government. nikole: the nation' s capital remains shut down. it promises to be a multi-day cleanup effort. >> while we have made some progress, there is still more to do. we will work to continue to clear our major artery. nikole: clearing the streets is one of the biggest challenges right now. there are secondary roads that have not yet been touched. that has cost schools and the federal government to close. other parts of the country are getting back on track. in new york, train service will resume for the morning commute.

the turnpike are finally free and back home. one thing that is not back to normal is air travel. hundreds of flights have already been canceled today. the good news is that airports in dcr opening up this morning. michelle: happening today, a trial begins for several people involved in a brutal dogfighting ring in apopka. officers were watching the home, and then made their move. the evidence was disturbing. pools of blood, puppies used as bait, and more. the trial for eight of those charged begins this morning at an orange county courthouse. jason: a form of miami dolphins player facing drug charges. he was charged with marijuana possession, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

as temperatures later on? amy: we are headed into the 60' s today. instead of the 50' s like yesterday. this morning it is cold, but not windy. we are not dealing with wind chill this morning. it is just the actual air temperatures themselves, but they are cold enough. we are in the upper 20' s and lower 30' s and most areas. we have a frost advisory in effect, a freeze warning and some spots. as we get to sunrise, we will begin to climb weekly it it will be a whole -- we will begin to climb quickly. we will be a whole lot warmer than yesterday. we have dropped to 28 degrees in denell. 31 in the villages. 32 and some other spots. in lake county, we have dropped into those freezing numbers. 29 at the paisley area.
