find another way to get to work. alex: you do not want to go through here unless you have to. but i can say that traffic has been moving smoothly so far. we're still not quite into the busiest hours of the morning yet. but you can see that a police officer is out here and he has been directing traffic. what has to happen here is if you're coming southbound on 1792, you have to make this soft left here on to park avenue. we talked to a police officer out here who tells us that the reason for this road work is that trucks had been hitting the railroad bridge here. we can see sun rail trains passing along this bridge and workers are now digging the road lower underneath to create a taller space there so those trucks do not hit the bridge anymore. fdot has to remove a concrete slab under the bridge to lower the road by nearly a foot. they tell us they are going to work as quickly and as hard as they can all the way through the weekend. this is going to be tough, though, on drivers as well
6:04 am
bridge here, like u-haul that's on the other side of the bridge. it's just going to be a lot more difficult for people to get there, to get to these businesses around here. the big problem here is that our crew saw last night that many people didn't know about the closure. >> it's going to be terrible. it's going to be a mess. >> i didn't know they were going to close it. >> sometimes it sets up this way. >> we're going to work as quickly as we can and as hard as we can all the way through the weekend. >> they're pledging to work as quickly as they can with this, but this is just the first weekend of the closure here. next friday the 19th to monday morning the 22nd. and you will see the detour signs when you come out here but stick with wesh for all of your traffic updates and your ways to get around this. jason: one of the ways to avoid that mess is kennedy boulevard. however, it's still closed this morning after that water main break
