amy: warm today, but a few showers expected overnight. i have the timing in your first alert forecast. michelle: replacing justice scalia, the political firestorm his death set off and who could , fill his spot on the bench. good morning. they did for joining us. i am michelle imperato. jason: and i' m jason guy. let' s get over to amy sweezey now for your forecast. amy: we have kind of a big picture difference this morning. depending on where you' re heading out from. some of us are in the 40' s, some of us are in the 60' s. most of us are in the mid-50' s though. to plan your day, not a lot of sunshine expected. once we get to sunrise, just after 7:00 a.m., we will brighten up, but there will be plenty of clouds today. there is a slight chance of rain. most of us will stay dry, but an occasional shower from time to time is possible today.

in, out ahead of some bigger rain expected tonight. temperatures will climb into the middle 70' s today. right now we are at 55 degrees in orlando. 65 degrees in melbourne. a big difference here from north to south. mostly warmer along the coast, because of that breeze coming off the ocean. plenty of clouds right now. plenty more threat the day today. we will see some showers east of orlando until noon. 79 degrees for our high in claremont today. mid to across the metro area. 79 degrees in orlando. 77 at palm bay. let' s get to jazmin walker with some breaking news. jazmin: we are watching very closely to see when the southbound side of 1792 will reopen between maitland and winter park. we have a camera crew there right now. take a look.

closed where intersects with 1792 park avenue since late thursday night. crews are lowering the road under the railroad crossing bridge. since the work started, it' s caused massive backups. you may remember on friday morning, that is when the backup started. the workers hope to reopen the roads around two minutes ago. unfortunate, that is not the case. they found more muck than was expected. ted noah has your backup plans. ted: we' ve been seeing traffic diverted onto park, and then onto dennings road. you might want to consider using weimer wrote instead, or state route 446. we have the chopper up, and they are heading over to this crash that we have been dealing with for a while in east orlando. that is at lake underhill.

meanwhile, on i-4, this is a nice shot. moving nicely through downtown orlando. no traffic to speak of yet. from the conway toll plaza to i-4, it is a short drive there. michelle: we are following breaking news. right now, the coast guard is on the search for a missing boater. jason: he never returned home , after heading out yesterday in brevard county. alex villareal is live for us at the coast. alex what we know so far? alex: we -- [no audio] jason: what we know is that the area that the coast guard is searching, is a favored wishing spot by the boater. they were able to think the man' s phone, which is how they found the bow. however, when the boat was found, it was empty.

man. we will hopefully get more from alex derail wimico back to her live, later on in this hour. this is the search area of satellite beach north to jenny park. florida fish and wildlife agents are helping with the search. there was an advisory from the national weather service from melbourne overnight, warning about dangerous conditions for small boats in the area through to tuesday morning. we will stay out there. follow the search live, and continue to bring you updates on sunrise. brett: new on sunrise. for a new home, after a house fire. this is a look at the home behind me. it was engulfed in flames. this happened about four hours ago in the land. you can see heavy damage to the home. the heavy damage to the home, and the roof collapsed during the fire. it also burned a van in the front yard. one person suffered a minor cut

no injuries reported. the red cross was called in to help the residents displaced by the fire. >> i do not need a gun. because -- [indiscernible] michelle: that man goes on trial today in orange county. last august, armando montalvo went on a rampage outside the wwe facility in orlando, it ended when he was shot by a sheriff' s deputy. questions remain about his [indiscernible] michelle: concerned employees called 911 about montalvo' s strange behavior. attorney' grab something from the ground that' s when he was shot. deputies charged him with aggravated assault. montalvo' s father told wesh 2 , last year his son has a

problems. we' ll be following up on this case and let you know what happens inside the wesh 2 mobile app. jason: happening today, a teen accused of running over an orlando police officer is headed back to court. last july, police say edward kelty ran over officer william anderson. anderson fired two shots in return, wounding kelty. officer anderson' s wife says her husband suffers from vision problems, a traumatic brain injury and ptsd. kelty, and another teen accused of helping him, angel nieves, will both have a status hearing in front of a judge today. michelle: leesburg police need your help finding a missing teenage girl. they say 16-year-old cassandra mcmillen has a history of running away and she is not from the area. she was last seen saturday afternoon at the club house pool of the legacy of leesberg. she was wearing jeans and a black shirt with an aztec design. she was also carrying a pink duffel bag. jason: the fallout continues this morning from the unexpected death of u.s. supreme court justice antonin scalia. republicans and democrats are battling over his replacement. nbc' s tracie potts has an update

it will be warmer than yesterday, even know we will not have as much sun. we have wind coming out of the south, south east, that is bringing in the warmer air. a slight chance of rain, but most of us will not see any of it. you' ll see more rain overnight tonight and into tomorrow. 55 degrees in orlando right now. a big temperature difference though, depending on where you are. take a look at futurecast. a lot of clouds today. a few showers east of orlando until noon. i do not expect a lot of rain today. i do expect plenty of clouds. a little bit of moisture is building in, out ahead of our married -- our main area of showers and storm out to the west still. that will come into play tonight, and into tomorrow. today, we are mainly dry. 73 degrees by noon time. we will top out in the mid-to upper 70' s for our highs today. i will take you around county by county, and we will look at the

>> you are watching wesh 2. michelle: breaking news. an all-out search for a boater who vanished in brevard county. 38-year-old lloyd chamberlain' s boat was discovered off satellite beach, after he was reported missing late last night. the search area spreads all the way up from there to jetty park, a 17-mile stretch. jason: we are watching to see when the southbound side of 1792 will reopen, between maitland and winter park. as you can see, that area has been a mess for the last three and a half days. crews were hoping to have the road back open about 10 minutes ago. however, it is not reopen as of now. michelle: one person is dead and another injured after an rv crashed overnight in ormond beach. investigators say it hit a tree on u.s. one near i-95 last

the tree uprooted and then fell on top of the rv. it is not clear what lead to the crash. bethune-cookman university students return to class today, without one of their own. jason: a former football player and new father was killed in friday night' s triple shooting at party in daytona beach. jazmin walker is here. jazmin, how is the school responding? jazmin: bcu officials tell us their critical incident care team is already providing support and counseling for students affected by the shooting. police say this man, lamont postell junior, is responsible, he surrendered to police and was booked into the volusia county jail. police say postell shot donkevious johnson just outside a country club off campus after an argument got out of hand. johnson played one year of football for bcu. his mother tells wesh 2 by phone her son was planning to propose to the mother of his child. she also says he anchored the

>> it was just a smile he had. he oh is keep people together. to keep the peace. jazmin: two other bcu students were also it' s usually injured. trey williams and justine cunningham they' re both , recovering. police tell us the victims were all bcu students. but the suspect, lamont postell junior was not. he' s being held without bond on murder charges. michelle: former florida gator aaron hernandez has settled out of court with a man who says hernandez shot him. alexander bradley claimed hernandez shot him in the face and dumped him in a parking lot in riviera beach in 2013. the terms of the settlement weren' t released. hernandez is already serving life in prison for murder, and faces trial for a double murder. a billion dollar drug bust is making headlines out of australia this morning. detectives say they seized $1 billion dollars worth of the drug ice, a form of meth. it was hidden inside a shipment of silicone bra inserts and art supplies. they say the bust is one of the biggest in australia' s history.

the bust. jason: people in the northeast are digging out after a very snowy valentines day weekend. the snow caused a major pileup that shutdown a highway just north of indianapolis. meanwhile, washington dc, -- washington, d.c., and other parts of virginia, are bracing for a winter storm today. forecasters expect them to receive several inches of snow by the end of the day. tram cars at a new hampshire ski resort are not expected to run today following a large-scale rescue. emergency crews rappelled 48 passengers to the ground yesterday after the cars became stuck 40-feet high. officials say a service brake issued caused the trams to stop and do not believe weather played a role. no one was injured. michelle: we are turning to your forecast now. amy, it is not too bad for a monday morning out there. there are some temperature discrepancies out there. amy: that' s right. about a 20 degrees difference

most of us though are in the middle 50' s. let me show you the numbers. first of all, yesterday' s highs were not bad at all. we were in the upper 50' s and lower 60' s. we were getting closer to our average of mid-70' s. today, we will not have as much sun. we' ll have a lot more cloud cover. it has kept our temperatures from dropping too much. you can see the difference though. the reason it is warmer along the coast in brevard county is the breeze coming in off the ocean. the water temperature keeping us a little bit warmer there. art images in the inland areas are in the low-to-mid 60' s -- 50' s. we have some patchy fog right now. not too much. it is mostly just some cloud cover, associated with some sprinkles seen in the overnight hours. the big rain is off to our north.

that is all going to be continuing to head to the east. this cold front is than going to get dragged through central florida. the main energy is going to stay well to our north. we are still going to get some showers and storms here overnight tonight and into tomorrow. a lot of clouds right now. some showers east of orlando until noon today. in the afternoon and evening, a couple of pockets of rain here and there. i do not expect much rain today. i do expect showers and storms to role in tonight, and into the morning commute tomorrow. some of you are off work today , maybe try to get back into the swing of things on tuesday. well, maybe not so great with the showers and storms. for our high today, we we back to warmer than average temperatures. send the eight degrees in longwood. 79 degrees -- 78 degrees in longwood. 79 degrees in winter park.

at 3:00 a.m., that is when the showers and storms will push into the metro area. they will continue to push out of the area by about 8:00 or 9:00 tomorrow morning. so, it will mostly be around throw morning. once we get -- around tomorrow morning. once we get to new time, it should be all cleared up. our temperatures will stay in the 70' s. let' s get a traffic update now. ted: we are being told now that open one or two lanes here. blocked off there. the crews are very active. let us go over to our maps here. there is a chop review of 1792 southbound. in the meantime, if you need to use 1792, consider using wymore road as a backup plan.

the cruise down over the weekend. brett: how an rv ended up crashing into a tree, and igniting into flames. jason: it is 6:30. thank you for waking up with us at wesh 2 news sunrise. i am jason guy. michelle: and i michelle imperato. we are starting off with your forecast. amy: we have quite a bit of cloud in central florida right now. once the sun begins to shine , we will not see a whole lot of sun today. we will keep the clouds around, but even know the clouds will be around, it will still be a warm afternoon. we will top out in the mid to upper 70' s today. a couple showers are possible here and there. i do not expect much rain. we will get an occasional shower from time to time. a lot more rain is expected overnight tonight, and into tomorrow. 65 degrees right now in melbourne.

you are heading out from this morning. whether or not you might want a jacket or a sweater. we have a lot of cloud cover, as you can see. there is not a lot happening right now, as far as the rain. from now until noon time, a few spotty little showers are possible. the highs today are in the mid to upper 70' s. even warmer than we were yesterday, that is thanks to these south east winds coming in. 79 degrees in apopka. 79 in maitland and st. cloud. 77 today in deltona. mid 70' s up and down the coast. for now, let' s go over to jazmin walker in the breaking news center. jazmin: southbound 1792 is open in winter park. we have been waiting to give you that update all morning. crews have been working all weekend to deal with the wrote underneath the bridge there. as you can see, the drivers are heading to that area now. the southbound lanes have been closed since thursday night.

during that time. crews hit a bit of a snag over the weekend when they found more muck than expected under that bridge. it slow them down a bit. the original goal was to reopen the road by 6:00 a.m. the road that open until about two minutes ago thanks to that muck. let' s get a traffic update from ted noah. ted: you can see traffic' s flowing to that area now. nice to see. we have another crash, the choppers are confirming it for us. this is at lake underhill. your backup plan their is woodbury road or the 408. keep an eye on her i-4 delays, this is eastbound right here.

orlando, no major problems there. if you are going to go straight through from the turnpike to you eight minutes. to get back to the breaking news we are following this morning. an intense search is on right now to find a missing boater. michelle: the man went out yesterday in brevard county, but never returned. the coast guard is covering a large area between satellite beach up to jetty park. we have team coverage for you. amy sweezey is tracking the dangerous boating conditions. out to be a rail is live. alex. alex: we now know the identity of the man who' s missing. he is 38-year-old lloyd chamberlain of merritt island. here' s the scary thing, just look at how choppy this water is. the waves are rough out here. we are about six miles north of satellite beach. that is where the search area begins.

miles, to jetty park. the search stands out to about a half-mile into the waters here. chamberlain' s friend called the coast guard around 10 o clock -- 10:00 last night. he said chamberlain was supposed to get back by dusk but had not returned home. officers pinged chamberlain' s cell phone, and that' s how they were able to find his boat near the eau gallie bridge, but he wasn' t in it. now, the coast guard is using its own small boat and helicopter to try to find the -- find him. the brevard county sheriff' s office and the florida fish and wildlife commission are helping with the search. we' ll be following the search throughout the morning. i want to get over to amy sweezey here. amy, there was a weather advisory about dangerous conditions out here right? amy: yes there was. when you talk about these advisories, it encourages the

out on the water. when you look at the police -- buoy data, you can see the wave height is that about four and a half feet, just off the coast of cocoa beach. that is the area where we have the swells. it is very breezy out there , too. the wind overnight was up near 20 miles per hour along the coast. michelle: thank you, amy. he will continue to monitor the search all morning. look for live updates right here on wesh 2 news and anytime inside the wesh 2 mobile app. brett: we' re following breaking news of a deadly fire in volusia county. this is in ormond beach where an r.v. crashed into a roadside ditch, hitting a tree, and then catching fire. you can see the tree uprooted .

s tough to see because its such a mangled mess. two people were inside the r.v. at the time. one was killed. the other had serious burns and was brought to halifax hospital. this was on u.s. one near i-95 just before 1 this morning. -- just before 1:00 this morning. it is still unclear what caused the driver to go off the road, and ignite this deadly fire. jason: new from overnight. supreme court justice anontin' s scalia' s body is on the way to virginia after his sudden death. he passed away in texas on saturday. scalia was set to weigh in on several cases this spring. wesh 2' s aixa diaz explains what happens now that his seat is empty. aixa: admin -- and since glee' s absence leaves for conservatives on the bench and for liberals. there is no tie-breaker boat. he was expected to weigh in on several important cases.

a mechanic found an explosive device attached to the car on sunday, when it was returned to a facility near the albuquerque airport. the bomb squad disarmed the device and nobody was hurt. investigators do not know who the car bomb was meant to target. michelle: covering brevard county, students and staff will hold a memorial for a popular teacher, killed in a murder-suicide. sandra cook taught math at rockledge high school and was nominated for teacher of the year. melbourne police say, her estranged husband shot and killed her, before killing himself two weeks ago. the memorial is at 6:00 tonight at mclarty stadium. after the break, a local woman facing tough questions this morning. jason: her father was found dead. and now she and her boyfriend are in custody.

s in most of the forecast area. it is ashley colder off to the north and west. barry county in the 40' s. brevard county is actually in the 50' s. it is actually warmer there. as you look at the wind, it is preflight for most of us. still, look at it -- look at that south, southeast breeze, helping to keep our temperatures warmer on the coast. we will see a lot of clouds today. despite that, our temperatures will climb into the 70' s by late morning. that is pretty much what we did for highs yesterday. we are going to keep climbing, until we make it into the mid- and upper 70' s later today. there is some rain in our forecast, and we have a lot of rain expected overnight tonight and into tomorrow morning. i will show you futurecast when i get back inside, in just a few minutes.

ted: 1792 is now completely open. if you are going to be driving through maitland and into winter park, you should have a nice smooth drive now. let' s take a look at the beach line expressway. there is some time -- there is sometimes congestion there. however, traffic has been lighter there recently. it is looking good so far. a crash is blocking at lake underhill road. you can use dean wrote or when very road as your alternates there. when the chopper -- dean road or woodbury road there as your alternates. when the chopper was looking down, they did not see much congestion happening now. we have some congestion on i-4 eastbound, but otherwise it should be a short eight minute drive. michelle: covering orange county.

anxious to talk to the daughter of an 81-year-old man found stabbed to death. jason: she and her boyfriend were named persons of interest. jazmin walker is here. jazmin, what have we learned about them? jazmin: well, we know tessie gresham and her boyfriend, david buchan, were placed under "a baker act hold." which means they' re under temporary detention for a mental evaluation. the body of julian gresham was found inside his taft mobile home saturday night. firefighters had been called to do a well being check, and made the gruesome discovery around 9:45. a neighbor tells wesh 2, gresham was on dialysis and unable drive. from her knowledge, gresham' s daughter and boyfriend were living with him to help with his care. >> before we went on vacation, he was out front, weeding his yard. trimming back bushes. he was ill, not well. but, he was great. he was a nice man. michelle: -- jazmin: investigators said that

-- water and her boyfriend took the victim' s car. that vehicle has not yet been found. it is a 2006 beige for us. the boyfriend, david buchan does have a previous criminal history. he' s done time in prison for both burglary and robbery. michelle: the florida highway patrol kicks off a new effort today, to cut down on hit-and-run crashes. last year alone, there were more than 92,000 hit-and-run crashes in the state. killing 186 people. that' s an increase of 2014. this morning, troopers will kick off an annual statewide campaign to bring awareness to the problem. families of hit and run victims will speak at the kickoff event bringing an important message. >> stop leaving the scene. it is simple. call 911. michelle: the campaign will kick off at 10:30 this morning

we should continue to see a lot of clouds today. morning, i am amy sweezey. we are talking about a couple of showers today. a whole bunch of rain overnight tonight, and into tomorrow. once we clear of the rain, tuesday afternoon, we should be done with it for the rest of the week. he will stay dry and quite warm. in fact, we will see highs in the 70' s the next couple of days. even as we cooldown, it will not be that much cooler than average. by thursday, we will be in the lower 70' s. that is our coolest day of the week. 55 degrees right now in orlando. 65 in melbourne. there is a big temperature difference between the north and the south, mostly because of the wind coming onshore in brevard county. we do have some moisture building back in today. so while we have cloud cover and not much sun, we will see some isolated showers from time to time.

once we get into the afternoon and evening, we will see more pockets of rain here and there. it should briefly lift off to the north. we will then have more rain off to our west, rolling through tonight. 77 degrees in ocala in the villages. 79 degrees in claremont. we will make it up to 80 degrees and winter haven. 79 and kissimmee and st. cloud. 79 at altamonte springs and orlando. 75 at daytona beach. mid 70' s on the coast. 75 will be our high today if you are headed to cocoa beach. not a lot of sun today, but also not a lot of rain. late night tonight, here is 3:00 in the morning. the showers will approach, pushing into the metro area early -- in the early morning hours. it will be gone from brevard county, by the time we get to
