this is melbourne in brevard county. we have dave with us. how's friday shaping up? dave: certainly cloud cover and rain unfortunately in the forecast. not everyone, so don't let it ruin your weekend plans. we have a great-looking end to the weekend. i'll talk about that in a couple of minutes. we dropped to 69 in daytona beach. 62 in orlando. even though it doesn't feel these temperatures are before what they should be this time of year. spring comes for us sunday morning. offshore moving toward the coast. the outlook for our future cast shows light rain across the rest of the afternoon we're talking thunderstorms moving along and north of the i-4 bit of patchy fog still a possibility in the next hour. temperatures in the middle 80's. above

drivers can no longer go on to 408 westbound here on they have to take the detour and get on at division avenue. so that is going to be a big change for people this morning. but the good news is that that new ramp is just four blocks here. there are those detour signs that you can follow. transportation officials say they moved the ramp to give crews space to build a new ramp for the future i-4/408 interchange which is going to be a massive cheng out here. the new ramp is temporary but a long kind of temporary. three years long at least. the next major project will be down the road where workers will set steal beams for the kirkman road. watch for this to begin sunday with a test run from 12 a.m. to 5 a.m. we will continue to follow all of your project news so stick with wesh for

michelle: a driver involved in a crash that killed a father and son is headed to traffic court. the 75-year-old was not criminally charged after rear ending the family's car last october. jose rosario and his one-year-old son died in that crash. witnesses tell wesh 2 they disagreed with the decision to only cite guthry in that case. jason: an nfl player is in critical condition after a serious motorcycle accident. authorities say baltimore ravens corner back tray walker was on a dirt bike when he collide wad ford escape last night. police say his bike did not have lights and he was wearing dark clothes. walker was drafted by baltimore last year. the coach reacting in shock saying, quote, this is

our prayers and hopes are with tray and his family last night. police say the driver of that ford escape stayed at the scene and is cooperating with this investigation. jason: covering lake county, a family is dealing with heartbreak after this teenager got in a house fire. we brought this story to you as breaking news yesterday morning on sunrise. jazmin, how's this community coming together to remember the 17-year-old? jazmin: those flames destroyed everything they owned so now the high school is collecting donations. pictures and flowers are in the place where flames and smoke took trevor's life. he was home alone and couldn't get out. trevor went to lake minimum i don't see la high school. -- lake mineola high school. friends told us he was good

this was the scene out there as part of the i-4 alternate project, the first real sign of change at the interchange with 408. for the next three years drivers will use an on ramp at division avenue instead of the one at orange avenue. michelle: a man will learn his fate today for running over a horse and its rider. christopher todd got into an argument with horseback riders in orange county in 2015. he then drove into the group killing the horse and injuring the driver. he faces up to 35 years in prison. jason: out of control spring breakers on daytona beach. beach patrol says arrests have more than tripled this year and the local beaches have been trashed. 6:14. returning to lake county, a local hospital was forced to throw out thousands of dollars in medication after they say a guy urinated on the storage refrigerator. michelle: police say the homeless man was brought into the hospital on

at one point doctors say he began to urinate on the walls and floor and some got into the refrigerator. the thrown away. he is charged with criminal mischief and is out on bond. jason: we're shifting gears to some of the weekend events. country music setting up shop in osceola county. tens of thousands of fans will be in town for this three-day long festival. this is the first time the event is being held in kissimmee? >> a change in location for the organizers here and they're expecting some huge crowds. the three-day festival begins this afternoon which means tailgating has probably already started for some. here's a look at the headliners and they are some of the biggest names in country music. jake owen today, kenny chesney tomorrow and our church on sunday. osceola heritage park playing host for the next couple of days. this festival used to be out in melbourne. single-day tickets go

a pep jason: caught on camera, video is going to be the talk of spring break that begins today at a south florida school. a fire breather caught ablaze at a pep rally thursday in delray beach. michelle: several students captured what happened with their phones. you can see they were running to help him. >> i saw everyone running to him and everyone was trying to put out the fire. i tried to remain calm. people were friekin' out. a -- people were freakin' out. a couple of people passed out and one went into a seizure.

were taken to the hospital. the performer suffered serious burns but is expected to be okay. still no word on what exactly went wrong. >> this morning california police and osha are trying to figure out how a construction worker fell 53 stories to his death. the man was working on a high rise in los angeles on thursday. it was his second day on the job and he didn't have clearance to go higher than the third floor. he landed on a car with a woman still inside. she was not injured and it's still unclear if he was wearing a safety harness. jason: if you have tuna in your home, listen up. bumble bee foods is recalling more than 31,000 cases of tuna. the company says the fish could have spoiled or have other patho gens. bumble bee says a third party packing facility didn't do proper sterilization. >> the accused sniper

thank you for waking up with wesh. i'm michelle imperato. jason: i'm jason guy. it's a busy weekend ahead. we've got festivals, music, art, a little everything in between and plenty of golf. we need the weather to cooperate. right now 68 degrees in downtown orlando where you're looking live. dave, the weekend is looking pretty good as we welcome in spring. dave: i would say the weather is going to be cooperative. i'm not sure it is cooperating as we have clouds and rain in the forecast. spring, well it springs on us early sunday morning. sunday is the day that is going to be magnificent. right now melbourne clear skies, 62 degrees. there are some high clouds out this. it's cool in the harbor city. we're talking about temperatures all around central florida in the middle to upper 60's headed toward the middle to upper 80's. plenty of cloud cover, showers trying to push in off the gulf of mexico. that's what we're going to watch throughout the day today.

alex: so far so good but we are still a little bit away. we have some time before we see the peak traffic hours. we'll have to watch for that. you can see the road closure sign behind me. you can still get on to 408 eastbound normally here, but the westbound ramp out here is closed. and this is right beyond orange avenue and south lucerne circle. there is a detour you can take. that detour is off of division avenue. you can get on 408 west from division now. that is just four blocks west of the old ramp here. transportation officials say they moved the ramp to make room for a new ramp. the new ramp is temporary but it is going to be around for awhile. that temporary actually means the next three years. in the middle of downtown, you have tons of venues and buildings around. there's not much space to

ourselves space to work. this is the first major things motorists are seeing happening. there is much to come at interchange. it is very intricate, a complex interchange. >> the next major project will be down the road where workers will begin the interchange. watch for work to begin this sunday. of your i-4 updates. we'll be following the traffic out here and let you know if we see any issues. michelle: the man convicted of running over a horse and its rider will learn his fate today. we have a preview of the sentencing. jazmin: christopher todd will be sentenced at 9 this morning. many will remember he got into an argument with four horseback riders in orange city in february of 2015. deputies say before that argument, todd was driving recklessly near the riders.

watering area. one of the riders walked up to todd's truck and talked to him about his driving near their horses. deputies say todd revved his engine and interventionally drove his truck at the group. he hit a horse and injured one rider. she was thrown from the horse and suffered a broken collar bone. todd pled no contest to aggravated battery charges. he faces up to 35 years in prison. sentencing starts at 9:00 a.m. jason: for the first time we're hearing the 911 calls made by the victims of the home invasion after several men broke into an ocoee house earlier this week. >> i know they hit us all in the face with a gun. >> there was like six people. when we walked in, we came home from the club. as soon as we opened the door they ran up on us. they were already inside the house. jason: police say the group kidnapped one of the three people inside and while making their

they crashed but kept going and eventually crashed into an officer's cruiser. guinness and cash were stolen. suspects are still on the run this morning. >> today two catholic leaders will be in court. they will be arraigned today along with a friar from minnesota. they knew about sex allegations but a priest but continued to put him in jobs that gave him access to kids. officials suspect the priest of molesting more than 100 children. he killed himself in 2013. michelle: u.s. intelligence officials say they could get valuable intelligence from an american who has been fighting for isis. >> i'm from the united states. michelle: this video was release bid kurdish fighters who captured the virginia native.

traveled to turkey and over the course of a few months entered syria to join isis. he says he was trying to leave isis when he was captured. >> i didn't really support their ideology, and that's, at that point that's when i decided i needed to escape. michelle: he says he wants to come back to the united states and spread the message of how bad conditions are in mosul. jason: u.s. officials confirm the north korea regime fired a ballistic missile off its coast. this medium range missile landed in the sea. authorities say it was fired from a mobile launcher which u.s. intelligence says is very tough to detect. the military says it's closely monitoring the situation. this comes after the u.s. imposed new sanctions on north korea earlier this week.

candidates are returning to campaigning. leaders are looking for ways to defeat the frontrunner donald trump. nikole killion is in washington with the latest. >> as the candidates campaign in arizona and utah today, top officials in both parties may be attempting to change the course of the race. conservatives in washington to stop donald trump. meanwhile others are ted cruz. marco rubio who just dropped out of the race is reportedly considering an endorsement. democrats are trying to come together with the white house denying reports that president obama recently told donors it is time to unite behind hillary clinton. >> our success in november in electing a democratic president will depend on the commitment and ability of the democratic party to come together behind our nominee.

bernie sanders is vowing to fight on telling the associated press he still maintains a path toward victory. michelle: florida senator marco rubio returns to the nation's capital days after ending his bid for president. he lost the florida primary on tuesday and yesterday he talked about his future political plans. >> i'm not going to be anybody's vice president. i'm not interested in being vice president. i don't mean that in a disrespectful way. i'm going to finish up my term in the senate over the next several months. we're going to work hard to do some things we want to achieve and be a private citizen in january. michelle: he said he believes it wouldn't help the republican party if donald trump wins the nomination. >> hopefully they'll prevent a trump nomination which think would fracture the party. michelle: in florida's primary rubio lost in every county but miami-dade.

man and his fiancee. they were rushed to the hospital but are expected to be okay. officials say the driver just lost control. jason: the international space station is about to get a little more crowded. michelle: these are the three new crew members getting ready to head there tonight. that includes a nasa astronaut who is about to become america's most experienced space traveler. jason: he's going to beat the record scott kelly just set. >> many believe records, they are made to be broken and astronaut jeff williams is looking to set a new mark. he's going to set a ride on russia's soyuz around 5:30 tonight headed for the international space station. williams will be joined by two cosmonauts on the trip. the group tweeting out this photo from last night. this is going to be williams' fourth mission into space. when he finishes his six months he'll have a total of 534 career days in space, beating scott kelly's lifetime current record by two weeks. he's got 520. the grandfather says he is

always say i can't complain, but i will. you may complain a little bit about the weather forecast as you look at the next 24-36 hours. there is some rain out there. right now it is pretty darned quiet in the volusia county area. we were looking for fog this morning. we didn't get to 100% relative humidity yet. it can still happen when the sun comes up. 69 degrees in daytona. 85% relative humidity. the closer your temperatures get to the dew point temperatures that's when you get higher relative humidity. mid to upper 60's. this morning not quite as sticky and mild out there as it was yesterday morning. a fairly pleasant setup for us. if you're sending your kids out to the bus stop, i think short sleeves or pants will be fine. not a real issue for rain this morning but coming home later today on the bus particularly if you're north and west of orlando, you might see showers out there. temperatures today in the middle 80's. my cloud deck is fairly thick. as we go through the morning hours we'll talk

filtered sunshine and enough that filtered sunshine it will get temperatures into the middle and maybe upper 80's in some locations. watching this swath of showers moving to the northern sections of our area, the best chance for rain will be our northern counties. as you look into the afternoon as well, some locations along and south of i-4 and the beach line could see a couple of showers. future cast is picking up on a lot of cloud cover in the morning hours. in the afternoon a better chance of rain. in the end rain is in the forecast not only today but tomorrow and into sunday morning as well. temperatures around central florida today into the middle 80's, warmer than they should be for this time of year. 84 degrees in longwood. the coastline, there is a higher than normal rip current threat and more swell in the water today. surfers 3-4 feet. boaters will make for an inland chop with winds coming onshore.
