the fire was burning so close to the home. it is remarkably good work that they were able to put these flames down and get the fire stopped before it cost any more significant damage. all of the fire burned up. it ran out of fuel and they were able to top it. this is a red flag warning today because of the low humidity and high winds that. we do not know what started this fire but it moved quickly and rapidly. the fire service guys got here so rapidly and they got the upper hand very quickly. a small bit of property damage but the fire is 90% contained. dave mcdaniel, wesh 2 news.

friends and family gathered outside destiny' s home in sheeler heights to remember her. police say that the teen who was charged was shooting the gun in the backyard of that home. the gun was allegedly brought inside, where destiny was shot. the teen is charged with second degree murder. jim: a nasty hit and run crash in brevard county leaves 1-man dead. police say steven terry was on a bicycle, pedaling back toward a homeless camp where he lived, when he was fun down. it happened last night on the courtenay parkway, just south of of a-1-a on merritt island. police are now looking for a dark-colored chevy s-10 pickup truck. today wesh 2 spoke to terry' s sister-in-law, who says she can' t believe the news. >> it' s unbelievable. it' s a shame that he was hit, but that someone left and left him there. it' s unbelievable to me. he had been homeless for awhile and he was willing to help anybody that needed help, because he got help from a lot of people around here.

wesh 2 that if the driver is caught they will likely face prison time. right now a palm coast man is accused of shooting another man saturday night. it allegedly started with a dispute over loud music. police say 38-year-old antoine young shot danny campbell in the leg, because campbell was playing his music too loud. witnesses told police they saw the two men arguing, and then young pulled out a shotgun. when he was arrested, police say young had a sawed off shotgun, and ammunition. summer: tonight we have new information on the investigation into an alleged rape that supposedly happened outside a disney nightclub. the accused wants the judge to drop the case, wesh 2' s greg fox explains why. this is surveillance video of hector herrera there in the black t-shirt and dark rimmed glasses, walking into the house of blues last july 15th. the infrared cameras inside make his clothing look white, but that' s him dancing with the

accusing him of later raping her outside the club. we' re concealing her identity. herrera is charged with sexual battery on a physically incapacitated person. detectives say he took advantage of the woman while she was intoxicated. now, wesh 2 news has obtained a copy of a motion to dismiss filed by herrera' s attorney which reveals more of what he plans to argue at trial. herrera says the girl danced in a very sexual manner and that he never purchased or provided alcohol. the girl indicated to law enforcement she had two apple ciders and 10 lemon vodkas. herrera says the girl suggested leave the club to engage in sex in the bushes. he says he gathered the girl' s clothes and tried to get her dressed she became hysterical and insisted that he leave. herrera' s attorney says the alleged victim has since moved out of state, making it challenging for him to defend his client, who has a trial scheduled for the end of may. no word when the judge may rule

the charge against herrera. in orange county, greg fox, wesh 2 news. summer: the key to this case is whether or not a jury will believe the girl was intoxicated to the point of being incapacitated at the time she says she was attacked. the ex-fiance of a local woman who disappeared years ago, will have to answer questions in a civil court case. michelle parker vanished in 2011. her family thinks she' s dead and that her ex-fiance may have played a part in it. today parker' s parents asked a judge to force dale smith junior to answer questions under oath, as part of the negligence lawsuit they' ve brought against him. smith' s attorney says there' s no point. but the judge sided with the parkers, who are now hoping it will provide some clues to what happened to her. it' s agony and it' s total torture everyday. it gets to the point where you accept that this has happened but you' re hopeful that things will come the right way some day. and i hope that we get these right answers. yvonne stewart is also seeking the right to visit her 7-year-old twin grandkids the

it has been nearly 90 years since a u.s. president set foot in cuba. that changed this week, with the arrival of president barak obama. the president met with cuban leader raul castro. this is the 3rd time the two have met since 2014. both talked about improving relations, which could lead to stronger business ventures. president obama says he hopes to learn more about the cuban lifestyle, and help strike deals with economic benefits. >> for the first time ever, air force one has landed in cuba and this is our very first stop. this is a historic visit and historic opportunity to engage directly with the cuban people and to forge new agreements and commercial deals. jim: the last president to visit cuba was calvin coolidge in 1928. he arrived on the island by battleship. it' s tax time less than a month before the filing deadline. that also means it' s busy season

summer: con artists and hackers are apparently working over time this year. this weekend the irs issued the warning that phishing and malware schemes are up 400% this year. wesh 2' s michelle meredith looks at what you can do, to keep your cash safe. the irs is reporting a 400% increase in irs scams this tax season and the scammers are tapping in to potential victims on two different levels. a popular angle is phone call where you' re told you owe money. anthony buono got one of those >> if we didn' t respond in about a 30 day period they would be starting prosecution or whatever. reporter: did that scare you? >> yes thank you for calling the bbb can i help you? reporter: here at the better business bureau, not only are they getting consumer complaints about irs scams/ several staff

not demand that you wire them summer: adrian whitsett explains. in november, kissimmee police arrested a man on a marijuana charge. in security obtained by wesh 2, you can see three officers go to a hotel and one uses a key to get in the room. the affidavit says detective hall was the only officer to approach the door after witnessing a drug deal, and that the suspect opened the door for her then gave her a plastic bag filled with marijuana. in court march 14th, prosecutors learned of the video and dismissed the case after they learned that an investigating officer' s testimony conflicted

now the state attorney says, we are reviewing all open cases involving these officers to determine whether prosecution should proceed. kissimmee police tell wesh 2: that all three officers were immediately removed from duty, pending the outcome of a criminal and internal investigations. detective hall, and the two other officers removed from duty are part of the street crimes unit a unit now suspended and other officers in that unit have been reassigned. state attorney jeff action called the entire thing disappointing. what is the deal with all the dead fish piling up? plus, or uber officially begins

jim: there is some encouraging news from seaworld tonight. tilikum, the orca profiled in the documentary blackfish, is recovering. we learned earlier this month that the mammal' s health was failing because of a lung infection, and there were fears tilikum might die. seaworld now says tilikum' s appetite has returned, and he' s once again interacting with trainers and other whales. the company says it is cautiously optimistic about his recovery. the sight of them is something to behold the smell is something else altogether. thousands of dead fish clogging up canals and washing up on beaches in brevard county. this is in merritt island. wesh 2' s dan billow looked into the problem, and explains. in cocoa beach, it looks almost as if you can walk across the thick carpet of dead fish filling some canals. >> oh, my gosh. this is terrible. this is the worst i' ve ever seen it, and i' ve been here since

reporter: and that' s not just because there are so many dead it' s also because the dying is so widespread. a fish-kill normally covers a small area; a pinpoint on the map. but right now, fish are going belly up from titusville to the pineda causeway; from kennedy space center to patrick air force base. about it, or else the economy' s gonna drop quite a bit. biologists don' t know why the fish are dying. but they do know the water in the indian river lagoon has turned brown. that' s because of a new kind of algae that' s caused square miles of water to go from blue-green to the color of mud. the only issue until now has been the murkiness of the water; but it' s becoming clear there' s a larger problem. you can see fish trying to gulp air just before they die. leon stennis says they' ve literally been jumping out of the discolored water to die on his dock. tell the city they need to get their you know what out here and

i just froze up he leaned out of the car as if he was about to come and get out and come towards me. reporter: zaporha steward got a good look at the man who she her friday night as she walked down hillcrest drive near berkshire road, heading to her boyfriends house. she says this is a good man' s orange hat, because the suspect opened the car door. >> he kept asking me where i was going and i kept ignoring him i froze up i didn' t say anything. he asked about 4 or 5 times. then he was like come here and it sounded like he said you come to me or i will come to you. reporter: though terrified, steward says she finally got her wits about her and as she' s long been taught, reacted to the threat i' m scared what do i do, should i just scream? the smart thing to do is scream. reporter: and it worked not only did the suspect race away stewards boyfriend who lives close to her, came running. when she went to my house i heard her scream and i came down off. s seen the blue jaguar in the neighborhood she' s not sure who owns it, or whether the suspect was in it on those earlier occasions, she got time.

from the university of florida. officers say robert dentmond was carrying a rifle around and threatened to kill himself at the majestic oaks apartments. this map shows how close that is to campus. deputies and officers warned him, he would be shot if he did not drop the gun. they opened fire when they say, he refused, and walked toward an occupied apartment. dentmond died at the hospital. right now daytona beach patrols are reporting big crowds, a continuation of spring break. it has so far been a wild season on the world' s most famous beach. last week, more than 100 people were arrested, and an officer hurt. the problems persisted this weekend. numerous alcohol violations had to be given out. off the surf and closer inland, nearly 200 people have been arrested, mostly for underage drinking. stewart: a seminole county man is facing charges of false imprisonment tonight. sheriff' s deputies say he grabbed a 12-year-old girl while she was jogging. take a look at cesar reyes. deputies say he spotted the girl friday night, while she ran on the seminole wekiva trail outside of altamonte springs. the girl told police reyes asked

partner. when she said no he allegedly grabbed her, causing a bruise. s mother was nearby, and called 911. stewart: the suspect in a deadly shooting outside an orange county strip club was ordered held without bond today, deputies announced the arrest of louis cintron last night. s charged with first degree murder and attempted murder. deputies say he was in a group of bikers who got into a brawl outside the diamond club early sunday morning. cintron is accused of opening fire and killing carlos enrique cruz. two others were hurt. summer : work on fixing a sewage leak in west orange county is wrapping up. the leak was spotted just off of good homes road. that' s near the 4-08. this all started yesterday. it was originally reported as a sinkhole. workers tell us a main sprinkler line eroded the main valve box, breaking the lift station and causing the sewage spill. if you use i-4 be prepared for another round of some potentially big delays. it' s all part of the work on the i-4 ultimate project. workers are scheduled to set up rolling road blocks at midnight. it' s to install steel girders

i-4 along kirkman road. beginning at par street, law enforcement will jump in front of traffic and slow it to 20-miles an hour. all 13 westbound i-4 entrances between the par street and kirkman road interchanges will be temporarily blocked as this happens. the rolling roadblocks are scheduled through thursday. stewart: the cocoa beach fire department is asking for help as they investigate this fire at a multi million dollar mansion. the fire marshals office wants to see any pictures of the blaze on atlantic avenue in the pumpkin center from before emergency crews made it to the scene. the fire at the al neuharth home in cocoa beach was destroyed last tuesday. investigators are looking into renovations going on at the 11 bedroom and 12 bathroom estate and whether anyone who wasn' t supposed to be there was on the property. stewart: united launch alliance is targeting a late night launch from the cape for tomorrow night, the mission is to resupply the international space station. this is a picture tweeted by ula today of its atlas five rocket carrying a cygnus cargo vessel. this is the last of the missions
