raising money to help children suffering from cancer and she died last week at the age of any and not before the foundation she found it with her late husband raised almost $37 million. in 1984, cancer was a death sentence for children. today, more than eight out of 10 children survive and they said she sponsored research that saved the lives of thousands of children. she literally changed the face of cancer and launched the careers of cancer researchers. she showed what one person can do and she will long be remembered were the surely howard to get your hospital opened -- shirley howard hospital opened in her name last year. with a fixture on local television in the 1950's included a number of shows here.
